Mike at the front desk was extremely disrespectful to me when I asked more questions than I guess he was comfortable with. He became defensive and dismissive so much so that another guy had to step in so Mike could calm down. My family has been going here for years. This has never happened before and was extremely upsetting.

I had my car towed here after it had a serious engine failure. The employees took a look at it and told me the problem without even charging a diagnostic fee. Not only that but I had a pretty long conversation with one person on the phone about the problem as well. They were really friendly and helpful even though they didn’t charge me. Unfortunately the car isn’t worth fixing but in the future I will certainly come back because the crew here seem like really honest good people.

I brought my car in for a brake job that cost $750. The next day, the brakes started making a loud screeching/squeaking noise. When I brought it back, I was told it would cost another $170+ to fix. I should not be charged more to correct work that wasn’t done properly the first time. Now I’m out $750 and left with brakes that worry me. Take your car elsewhere.

4th time coming here, first three I was very impressed with the customer interaction and transparency involved. Walked me through what the diagnosis was and varying option in terms of what could be done and prices. Today was my first time dealing with "Mike", both on the phone and in person he was very unhelpful and became rude when I asked for more detail on the work and price breakdown. I have had a brand new ac system installed and leak tested and required it to be charged. I was happy for them to double check the system was leak free before charging and confirmed that if things went well it would be an hour of labor max. For this the cost was quoted around $370 plus tax. When I questioned on a more detailed breakdown of the process and cost Mike became annoyed at me and exclaimed that we had gone through all that, but all he had said was it was going to be "evacuated and recharged". I then asked to confirm how much an hour of labor was, around $174, and when I asked how with the only materials being needed 17oz of refrigerent, where did the extra $200 come from as I was genuinely just trying to get a breakdown of things like I had been given on prior visits. If the answer had been "its a flat fee for AC" or something similar, I would have understood but instead Mike just got more agitated and stood up to tell me "I could just take the car somewhere else then". I was taken aback as I felt I had asked reasonable questions, I was not even asking for a cheaper price just to outline the charges for the process. It seemed like Mike was just getting more heated so I said thank you but I would need to think things over more. Genuinely, an uncomfortable experience to be treated this way and extremely unlike anything I had experienced here before after multiple visits.

I purchased a used Toyota Tundra a few months back. It’s had a few issues as any used vehicle might. The air conditioning stopped working, which is a fairly routine job for an experienced crew such as Matt’s. This truck not so much, it needed all kinds of parts I’ve never heard of. Some of it requiring much of the interior to be removed. Anyway, many more days and many more dollars later, Matt’s crew handled it all with a professional touch, good communication and a finished product that I am very happy with. Thanks to the whole crew.

Will not take our Toyota or Subaru anywhere else. They are respectful, knowledgeable and friendly. The sign of good service, to me, is when someone does what they say they will, when they say they will. Great service is when they go out of their way to make your life better. Matt’s has given us great service (i.e. fit us in for a quick consult when they were swamped (work done later but worry alleviated), explained why a repair was not necessary (saved us money), diagnosed a problem and advised us on another provider (their team doesn’t do that specific work)). They are always busy, so you have to plan ahead for service. But like a busy restaurant, that just shows how many folks go to them.

Long ago and I still remember it. Have you ever had a bad experience where someone involved was absolutely the good guy? About ten years ago the main battery on my Prius went out. My idea, my mistake, I ordered a third-party battery. There was one defective one from that supplier after another after another. Matt's kept trying, kept uh "communicating" with the supplier, Matt's was the good guy. I have to figure they even lost money on it, so this review is my way of making up for that.

I can’t say enough good things about Matt’s Greenwood Auto Care. Every time I’ve come here, I’ve had a fantastic experience, which can be hard to find when dealing with auto shops. The team is incredibly trustworthy, and you can tell they genuinely care about their customers. I’ve visited twice now—once for a diagnostic when my AC stopped working, and more recently when my car wouldn’t start, but I knew the issue wasn’t the battery. Both times, I left feeling confident in their service and impressed by how they handled my issues. A special shout-out to John, who really went above and beyond to help me. I live in the neighborhood and decided to walk in right when they opened at 8 AM on a Monday. Even though the shop was already busy, John took the time to listen to my problem and offered to come with me to my car. He brought a portable battery to help me try and jumpstart it, and after hearing the noise it was making, he quickly identified that the engine was partially flooded. John talked me through each step of what he was doing to clear the flood and get my car started. He also explained what might have caused the issue, so I could avoid it in the future. Thanks to John, I saved both time and money, and he got me back on the road in no time. I’m so grateful for his help, and I’ll definitely be returning to Matt’s Greenwood Auto Care for all my future car needs. Highly recommend!

I started going to this place almost 10 years ago now and recommended it, but in recent times they've had a long wait time - and since opening a newer location not far away, often sent me for service over there. All fine, except I recently had a really bad experience with the Aurora location (see the review I left on that location if you want all the details) - but the breaking point for me was this shop wanted $5,000 to fix an air conditioning issue that ultimately turned out to be $25 in parts and a couple hours of labor I was able to do myself.

Having a transmission issue and been calling shops, but not getting in touch with anyone so leaving lots of messages, and this was one of the shops. I finally managed to get in with another place so I’m all set, but I’d like to share that Matt is the only one out of all the others who called me back at all. I super appreciated the follow-up, and will call here first next time :)

These guys have become my go-to mechanics. I was suddenly hearing metal on metal grinding while driving and breaking. I called around to multiple mechanics and no one could see me until the following week. I called Matt’s and they told me to come in immediately and were able to replace my breaks that day. A week later, a separate issue popped up and, again, they were able to see me right then and there to diagnose the problem and got me into their schedule within a week for a fix. It’s clear everyone there cares deeply about what they do + want the best for their customers. Can’t recommend these guys enough!

Amazingly helpful and knowledgeable. I went to Matt's for an unexpected check engine light and even though my service was scheduled for a week out and I'd never been to them before they offered to have me come up the same day to run the code and see if it was a more urgent issue. I'll definitely be getting all my service done from Matt's in the future.

John at Matt’s Greenwood Auto Care is a class act. Not only was he incredibly informative for someone who needed a breakdown of what was wrong with my car (a 2000 Toyota Celica that I’ve owned for 24 years), but helped me make the decision if it was even worth putting the money to fix the car to make it safe to drive or if it was more reasonable to get a newer car instead. He was never pushy and truly one of the kindest people I’ve met in Seattle since moving here 9 years ago. Due to John’s incredible customer service as well as the kindness of the other mechanics, they will always have me as a client. I really appreciated their help when I was incredibly overwhelmed. -Alison

The amount of money I've saved by choosing Matt's is substantial. My most recent job was completed for less than half of what I was quoted at autozone. Price aside, these guys always do an excellent job. They are transparent and you can tell they actually give a care. If you have a Japanese vehicle that needs servicing, choose Matt's.

I had a great experience with Matt's. Interaction was 3 phone calls and two visits. Spoke with 3 different people and interacted in person with 2. Everybody was friendly and knowledgeable and they did a great repair, on time at a very competitive price - working me in on a weekday without a previous appt. I don't want to speak ill of their competitors, but I've taken my Subaru Outback to two other places which won't be seeing me again now that I've found Matt's.

I replaced a friend's rear brake pads and rotors on her 2019 outback. Afterwards the electronic parking brake kept kicking off an error. I thought it just needed to be placed in maintenance mode and out of maintenance mode to remove the error. I called 6 places and none would either do it or it was 2 weeks out and some of those wanted to charge me. John just said "sure we can squeeze you in, bring it on by." The mechanic, Edgar, was super helpful and unfortunately I'd broken something in the caliper and it took a while to troubleshoot that, it was not just a simple turn maintenance mode on and off with the scanner tool. They jacked it up, and took off the servo motor and didn't charge me at all. they were super helpful. We look forward to choosing them for our business in the future!

My wife and I have been going to Matt's Greenwood Auto for 6+ years now and can't say enough good things about them. They take care of your vehicle at a fair price. I recently had a lighting issue that i couldn't solve on my own. They told me to swing in and they'd take a look at it. When I got there, John spent 30 minutes helping me diagnose and fix the problem. They truly are a good representation of what a good business is.

Matt's is a great, local, business with a long history in the area. On the day of my scheduled service, drop-off was simple and I was told I that they inspect all vehicles by lunch, give the customer a call to approve maintenance, and then call when finished. The delivered as promised. No one tried to upsell me on unnecessary items. Service was prompt and the staff was friendly and clearly explained all charges.

Reliable and very helpful for car service. They told me what they were going to do to see if my Honda needed more than a battery and we're forthright in the process. I felt that they were honest and they took care of the issue in a very timely way and with kindness. I recommend this mechanic.

Had a pool of oil under my car in the morning. Had it towed to Matt's Auto (first time customer, found them online) anticipating the "usual treatment". However.... Matt's on it quickly, despite my end of the week drop-off. The transmission fluid cooling circuit in the main radiator had broken. Needed a new radiator. For a pretty tedious job, the price was fair. Car was working again without the expected $3000 Subaru transmission replacement I had been dreading! An additional associated issue was dealt with super quickly at a drop in, at no cost. Staff interacted with me while I was waiting and seemed genuinely interested in the issue and the fix! After reading many, many, many online reviews of this business, I would have to side with folks giving this place great reviews! That's coming from a jaded cynic too! Recommended.

Great, honest shop. I had my vehicle inspected here and they didn't try to upsell me on anything. They noted a few issues (struts starting to seep, as well as valve cover) but let me know that these items wouldn't be in need of repair for a few months. So far so good, so I'm giving them 5 stars. I'll edit the review in the future as needed.

Honest, fair, and quick. These guys do amazingly good work, will never try to sell you on a service you don't actually need, and are super flexible to get things done when you need them done. We just purchased a new (used) car, and specifically narrowed our search to makes that Matt's works on so we could continue to take our vehicles there. I've worked with many, many mechanics over the years and do what maintenance I can myself (oil changes, filter changes, etc.), and these guys are far and away the best I've ever encountered. 6/5 stars - take your cars here.

From routine maintenance to more substantial repairs, they operate with integrity and are consistently very friendly. Matt's not only does quality work, but provides hands down the best customer service I've ever received (not just for an auto shop; basically the best I've received anywhere).
