I thought I'd get more $$$ for all the metal I had, but overall it was quick service. The team seemed to be working really hard. I didn't know prices before I went there. So my advice to research before selling your recyclables.
The payment may be lower than some people expect, but they accepted scrap that other places refused and made the process quick and easy. I had been turned away by two other scrapyards before coming here, so I really appreciated that they were willing to take everything and help me solve the problem efficiently.

I Came Here On Purpose…and They Blew It!
I went to this yard deliberately to compare prices against other places in the Seattle area. I left knowing one thing for certain: they don’t know what fair pricing looks like.
They paid me $0.03/lb for steel. That’s right — three cents. My 700 lbs? Worth $42 elsewhere, but they handed me $21. Add stainless, aluminum, and brass, and my total ticket came to $31.25. Laughable.
For comparison, Binford Metal Recycling in Kent would have paid me double on steel alone. That’s $21 in my pocket they just stole — and that’s just one metal. The difference on a full load? Easily $50–$60. Real money. Real loss.
No transparency. No explanation. Just “weighed it, printed it, paid you, next.” If you don’t know scrap prices, you’ll get taken. If you do, you’ll never return.
They failed the test. I came prepared, and they got exposed.
I won’t be back — and neither should you.
I would never send my mom here! Be warned that the last two times I have been to the Recycling Depot, the workers that sort and direct traffic were brisk, rude, impatient, and they even yelled at me AND other customers that were around at the same time! Holy Moly! The cashier has always been fine. I have been to the Recycling Depot multiple times, and I appreciate being able to recycle rather than throw away used or broken items (e.g., electronics, portable air conditioners, metal, etc) almost any time and not wait for a quarterly or biannual city or community recycling event. Getting paid a little bit is a nice bonus. Just know if you use them, go for the earth and you better have thick skin.
Great location. Take small light loads for faster drop-off service as well as big for heavier weight on scale. Easy drop off with helpful staff member for my small load. Boss is friendly.

I was pretty uneducated about the scrap metal process, it would have been easy to take advantage of that fact, but instead they gave me some tips on how to get the most for my scrap metal and the importance of keeping it out of the landfill.
I tell everyone to go to The Recycling Depot.
They don't pay the best rates, but they make up for that by being simple and conveniently located right off I5. For scrap loads you weigh in, unload by the pile, then weigh out and get paid. you can be in and out very quickly and simply.
They pay far below market scrap prices.
Prices vary depending on the customer.
If they see an opportunity, they will take advantage.
"If you were a bigger customer we'd pay you more" (their words, not mine).
I get it they're "just the little guy" but you'd think if that were the case they might be a little less patronizing and shady and run a more honest business.
