North Transfer Station in
Seattle Hill (WA)

Came today and it was at a complete standstill for like 45 minutes the attendants didnt explain why there was a hold up and I ended up having to leave because it was so ridiculous. The line was out the door and into the street at the very least attendants should explain why there was a total standstill for almost an hour, it was utterly ridiculous.

The North Transfer Station is an example of government that works. The employees are almost always cheerful and invariably efficient.

Very easy recycling. They don’t take soft plastic or styrofoam, but I wish there was a place to drop off the styrofoam.

This is my local transfer station. The staff is great. I can take yard waste as well as recycle of large objects which won't go into my regular house recycle container.

There was a Yoda statue (and possibly a mannequin?) in the entrance of the dumping area and he was always dressed up with random things. This brought joy to me and my friends/coworkers every time we had to come. Lets face it, no one is having the best time of their lives making a dump run but the statues dressed up at the entrance brought a little spark joy with each visit. I'm sure it was entertaining for the employees too! Keep it fun!

They got a really nice crew there. Stop by and say hi whether or not you have any trash.

no complaints:) I come here once or twice a month and I usually get in pretty quick. Sometimes there are longer queues but it's not like thats a failing of the dump staff. Everyone I've interacted with is always kind. I've been offered help without even asking know occasionally. Overall, great job n transfer station team!!

Clean since it is modern and the people who work here are cool.

We don't have dumpsters like these in Thailand. We normally pay people a fee to come and collect things we don't want anymore or we just wait for a garbage truck.

It's cool that you can toss stuff here and pay based on your car's weight – even if the smell is really bad! It really makes you realize how much stuff we go through and makes me want to cut back on buying things.

Free recycling and no waiting line for recycling items drop-off, I was so happy to drop off my microwave for free

Never did I think I'd leave a review for a garbage dump. ? But this is a very well designed and run center. Garbage, recyclables, hazmat items, large items....
It can get busy so come early or late.

Super efficient! I don’t have a car but live within walking distance so they let me in to dump some old furniture just by foot, $35 seemed like the flat fee, took no time at all.

The best recycling drop-off station I’ve ever been to. Yesterday, Kahil, the Information Rep, was excellent in explaining whether some of the items I wasn’t too sure of could be recycled, or not. Surprisingly, lots of different plastic numbered items can be! A great experience, which made us feel like we did something positive for the planet.

Shocking I have never smelled anything that bad coming from this trash facility! To be clear I don't mean that the facility is trash, simply that it handles trash! I'm happy to live close to such a beautiful and historic seattle landmark! More transfer stations should be installed around the city and really the world! I recommend this attraction to all visitors of the city and even locals!

This place is, very appropriately...garbage. If their credit card reader goes down they detain you there until it's fixed. In this case close to 45 minutes, and after that it still didn't work. Your reward after being forced to wait is a receipt which requires you to come back and pay the balance after not being able to fix their scanner.

If they would allow zero stars I would pick that. Showed up after confirming on website that they open up at 8AM, only to find some random sign indicating that every 1st Wednesday they don’t open until 10AM. Every other sign and indication is they are open everyday from 8-5:30. Update your info so the rest of us can do our job appropriately.

Very nice dump, most of our items were actually able to be recycled. Plus there was an area for goodwill donations. By the time we recycled our items we didn’t have much to dump and there is a minimum charge which is $35 dollars so next time we will try to have a bigger load! The staff was really nice!

I was really happy with the transfer station that was there years ago. If you'd asked me to rate it back then I would have given it five stars. I had no idea a transfer station could be as nice as the one that we have now. The old one was basically a shed over a giant hole in the ground. It served its purpose. It let me get rid of things. The transfer station that we have now is much nicer to be in than the old place. And there are many additional things that you can deal with there. You can drop off recycling. You can drop off needles from your diabetes treatments. So I definitely give this five stars. But it's so much more than what simple stars can communicate

Today I went to the dump I go there all the time. For some reason My card was declined. The lady at the window would not try it again. Was being extremely rude. Ask for a supervisor she refused to get me one. She closed the window on me and would not let me leave. I then pulled out my phone and started recording. Then she decided to take my information and let me leave. I asked for a supervisor multiple times she told me no she was not calling a supervisor. She would not run the card again. She told me she tried the card once and it was declined. After I left I went and got fuel with my card that worked fine. I have a two and a half minute video on my phone of this interaction. I can assure you no employees of mine would treat a customer the way I was treated today
I feel extremely disrespected, and I don't feel like this woman should be working a customer service job. I also feel like I am owed and apology. To lock someone in and close the window is not okay. Also if someone asks for a supervisor they need to get one. Because this could have been solved if she would have ran my card one more time. Or entered my card numbers manually. Instead she wasted my personal time. And made that transit center look really bad. No employees anywhere should be treating customers like this. So North transfer station can reply to this and if you would like I could send you the video

First time I have been here and it is so well laid out for navigating in and getting to the right area of what you're looking for, whether it is garbage or recycle. They also have a goodwill drop off. I was impressed with how helpful everybody that works there is and how efficient the whole process is from start to finish. Totally worth all five stars!

As the mother of two garbage truck-obsessed preschoolers, this place is a dream come true. The community viewing room has the BEST entertainment ever, and great educational activities and toys for kids to play with. The facilities are clean and convenient. We wish we lived closer, we'd be here every day.

We drove to drop off a piece of furniture and a lot of mix recycle (glass, plastic, Styrofoam) and cardboard.
Dropping off the recycle was free.
It cost $35 to drop off an old desk in the dumpster.
I would recommend to drop off all the trash at once since it does not matter how much you have it will still cost $35 for a car to enter for a short period.
Separate the cardboards since there is a separate large bin for it.
There was a goodwill donation truck in the recycle area parked you could also donate but they did not take any furniture.
I did not see a schedule posted but the place was open on a Sunday around 2pm.

Visited the FREE public viewing room of the North Transfer Station this afternoon.
Free parking on site, including handicap spots.
Wheelchair accessible entrance.
Elevator and stairs are available to access the 2nd floor viewing room.

Clean, well lit, floor to ceiling windows overlooking both the incoming / outgoing station and the dumping area.
Spent an hour there and saw around 25 garbage trucks dump their loads.

Informative displays showcasing how the plant operates are hands on, meaning you can play with them.

Great place to take kids of all ages.

Smooth and efficient process, easy in and out. Some staff helpful and friendly, others less so.

as you enter the premises do not stop on the first boot, proceed to the next one tell the person on that boot what do you have to get rid of ,... garbage ,recycle or something else. continue driving once you received your receipt,meet the person attending at the entrance he will direct you to the designated place for you to dump materials
once you're done you can hit the exit. Drive pass the first boot on your way out,continue all the way to the second boot one to your left ,show the atandant you receipt and you're credit card pay for The Dumping fees and in your way home you are.

Easy in & out, this place is fun for small kids and adults! Clean & easy. Love the misters...cause you know people are throwing away nasty building materials. Great prices and...if you’re like me it’s a bit cathartic to throw your junk into the heap.
