I've been a Recology customer for 57 days. I've spoken with customer service seven times regarding my compost cart that has not been delivered. Customer service has been unable and unwilling to help me with this problem.

I have been experiencing the same issue for over a month. The customer service agents are kind and you can tell that they are just the punching bags between operations and the customers. Not one attempt for escalation has resulted in a manager returning my phone calls. I am not any closer to finding a solution to the problem that Recology started in the first place. I just want recieve the service that I am paying for.

Some of the worst customer service and worst overall service you will ever have the displeasure of paying for if you are unlucky enough to have a business in their pickup zone. Unreliable, zero communication, very expensive, and flat out liars on the customer service side. Makes me sick that there are no alternatives for small business.

Picked load from here. very nice,kind and helpful staff. Go end of building you will see 2 scales on left side just enter and skip the both scales go end of building make left turn from dirt and make U turn and come back to scale use right side of scale check in done on scale.

Check-in on the scale but first, drive around the backside of the building to U-Turn in a dirt spot and drive onto the scale. Provide pickup number and security will tell you what dock door, I was placed at bay 1 for my pickup. Loading took a couple hours. Drive back to the scale to get weighed but again, loop around the backside of the building again, return back on the scale with your doors open for security to take a picture. Close your doors and seal up. Get your BOL and get driving 🚚

After moving into my new house I realised the garbage can and recycling can size I ordered were too small. I called to request bigger sizes on both. They told me they would swap them out on my next garbage day 5 days later. Sounds great. Garbage day comes. No swapping. No phone call. No email. 2 days later I call to get an update. They say they didn’t have time and it is rescheduled for my next garbage day. Ok? Next garbage day comes…. Same thing. I call the next day, same story. But now it will be changed out in 2 days. Before my garbage day. Keep in mind I just moved in and have more garbage and recycling than usual. 2 days later, you guessed it, no swap. No call. No email. I call the next day. Same story. For the third time they didn’t schedule properly and ran out of time. They will do it on - not this garbage day - but the one in 9 days. 2 days later I come home to see the garbage can swapped out with the correct size I requested and the recycle bin swapped out one size smaller than I requested. I called 2 days ago to ask for the correct bigger recycle bin. It will be 17 days before they have the manpower to drive by my house and swap out the bin. 5 calls to get one simple task complete. 3 cancelations with no notifications. Incorrect swap out. Extended and unreasonable new eta for correct swap out.

Absolute garbage, literally. They've been stealing money since last year after I sold my home. They've been drafting my account even though I called and messaged to cancel my account. It took multiple calls over a month for them to state I was right and then said it'd take 6-8 weeks for the refund check to go. So, through theft and bad service, they stole money from my account and there was never a follow up from anyone there. I'm very happy I don't live here anymore. Also, the person I spoke to laughed at me when I said I'm a member of a Native Tribe. Poor, such poor service.

Recology discriminates against people who do not live in wealthy neighborhoods. During the last heat wave, they notified residents of Mercer Island they would collect trash early in the morning - at 6am. I live in Northgate, and they regularly collect at my residential building at 5am. I have asked them to abide by Seattle Municipal noise code and not collect until 7am, since I am surrounded by other residential buildings. Apparently, Northgate does not matter. They still collect at unreasonable times in the morning. Trash company is a trash company.

Got the trash out there Sunday night for a Monday pick up. Then they don’t pick it up and miss my neighbor as well. My wife told me that they will just lie to you and tell you they will pick it up when you call. I called on Tuesday And they did in fact lie to me and told me they would pick it up. I called again Wednesday. More lies. I called again Thursday. More lies. I called on Friday and the guy was nice enough to be honest and say they won’t be becoming until Monday. We shall see. Terrible service. Terrible customer service.

I had opened an account in February 2024. The yard waste bin has never been correct and we are now 13 months out. At first there were two bins delivered different sizes. The bin to be collected sat on the street for months. Then when they finally came by to collect it they took both. March 2025 I still have no bin and customer service is always rude. It was my problem and no refund except one month because I stopped calling about the issue in September. Do not waste your time with this trash company.

Had a problem with missed p/u for a month. The operations supervisor came to see me in person, Will Shilling -arranged a same day pick on the spot, and credited us for 2 weeks. he turned a frustrating problem into a very positive experience, was very helpful and thorough making sure I was satisfied and happy with the outcome before leaving

My F-150 truck was parked in the parking spaces near the QFC North Bend, WA. On windy days, the dumpsters are blown across the parking lot. This happens often. I feel sorry for the individuals that live in the apartments located at the round about at E North Bend Way and Downing Avenue N. (The QFC intersection), I have seen the damage caused by Recology King County, Inc. dumpsters to multiple vehicles on different days. The dumpsters were blown into the side of my truck causing damage to my truck in three separate places. I have video of the dumpsters on numerous windy days blown into the side of my truck, an orange Jeep SUV and a Black Mazda cx-5 vehicle too. I asked Recology to repair my truck and they denied my claim. Pay attention on windy days and avoid parking anywhere near Recology's dumpsters because they are not secured and wind can easily blow them across the parking lot. Also, be careful if you have young children so they are not injured by these dangerous dumpsters. I do not know why Recology will not secure their dumpsters especially after I have told them how dangerous the situation is.

I never leave negative reviews, a lot of bad has to happen to get me to. We have had SO many issues with Recology billing. We moved out of state and switched our King County Recology over to our renters (or so we thought). We called them, our renters called them, our property manager called them- Recology keeps billing us. But they are billing our renters too. They billed both of us for the same month. Then they wouldn't let us make a payment online (clicked on it a million times and it won't let us pay it online, it wants us to contact customer service), and they just sent us a notice of intent to report to collections. SO FRUSTRATING. Each time we talk to someone they say the issue is fixed and we don't owe anything, and then they send us a bill. This has happened four times. I don't understand how they are still in business. It makes sense to me that they have less than 2 stars on Google reviews.

Horrible service and customer service. They bill for pick-ups they do not follow through with. They then fine you for having too much garbage/recycle during pick up, even though they were the ones that missed the initial pick up that you paid for... That doesn't make much sense to me.

It is important that everyone complain to their county and city about how much these people rip customers off. They are so "data-driven" and sophisticated when making their sales pitches to local governments, but that goes all out the window when it comes to billing you. I went out of town for a few months and had informed them about it. Of course, when I come back there is a bill for the time I am away. That bill included all the times that they pass by my house (which is on a main road so there are no extra turns or movement from them) and that they didn't pick anything up, which was expected. What wasn't expected was that they continued to bill for all the times they simply drove by. And they want to charge $400 for that? What a scam, and it is important that everyone shares their complaints and stories about this to their city and county.

Recology sure has went downhill. Our account is on autopay yet I get Past Due and invoice and threats of no pickup. Login and account shows its paid up. Try calling them and I get their message service days later no call back. Email them and days later no reply on email. Reporting this to King County Solid Waste Division. You should too.

Dealing with this company is a nightmare, constant lies, inaccurate billing. It can take weeks to get a dumpster picked up. And they just hit you with the same two lines "oh sorry they were full and didnt get to you we will get you tomorrow!" And "awesome we have you on the schedule for pickup tonight". Absolutely garbage service.

I moved in to a new home and ordered 2 bins 6 weeks ago but have not received them yet. I called many times to ask for help since my garage is full of garbage… they could not do anything but let me wait for another week.

I've been trying to get bags for over two weeks. I've called 3 times, and they keep saying 24-48 hours, yet still no bags. Final straw to post this was just now watching one of their trucks tear through a crosswalk with the crossing light on and nearly run over an older man. Godawful service.

I dont know what is worse, their logistics or their answering service. One tells me they will pick up the other doesn't show up. When you actually do reach someone who isn't a third party representative they’ll tell you something completely different. Word of advice: teach your answering service the actual protocols so they stop over promising and under delivering what Recology can actually do. Freaken ridiculous. Get more than one person at your actual facility answering phones.

I keep getting billed for a property I don't occupy, I've called 5+ times, get their contracted call answering service, and never get a call back from Recology to resolve it. Apparently this is from their poorly communicated WM takeover for the area. Literally never had this company service my waste containers when I did occupy the property.

You picked up our entire street’s recycling bins 8 weeks ago and have yet to replace them despite numerous phone calls and emails. How do you not automatically replace them?? Is picking up our recycling off the ground every two weeks not enough of a hint?? SPU needs a new recycling company ASAP, I’d give you zero stars if I could.

I asked their driver in Seattle to move a little bit forward so that I could get to work at the hospital. The guy yelled at me and then lurched his 50,000 lb truck at me and raised the forks in the front as I was standing next to it. I reported it to the company and was assured they would look into and call me back but they have not. (I have given them 3 days and have heard nothing.) Be aware of the intimidation tactics they allow their drivers to pull if you ask for common courtesy.

They missed my recycling pick up on Monday, I’ve been calling every day for a week straight for them to pick it up. Every day they say “it will be picked up by the end of the day, if it’s not, call us back by 4:30 pm” it has not been picked up. When I call back they tell me “we will pick it up in the morning” we are on day 7 now, and still hasn’t been picked up. I called back this morning and they stated “we will schedule it for pick up tomorrow”. I asked to speak with a supervisor and they stated “no one is available right now, we can have a supervisor call you back in 48 hours”

Not sure if the Issaquah service is connected, but they did not pick up my garbage for about a year. I called several times. They said they couldn't find it or we didn't set it out. --- It is sitting in the same spot as they delivered it in the wide open. I have canceled the service, but don't want to pick up the can because they have a credit hold. I am not going to pay the last few months bills because I have yet to receive any service from them. What a racket. I am hopeful the city of Issaquah who contracts with them can help me. In the mean time-- what a racket they are running. P.S., the other day we saw the truck turn around 100' from where the can sits and always has.

My experience with customer service: I sold my home on 7/19/21, I had successfully canceled all of my services successfully except this one. The representative says they cannot find where I contacted them and I am responsible for services at a home I have no affiliation. I know I contacted them. This is unacceptable. I asked to have a manger call me. I requested this call on 10/16/21. No call. I contacted them again through social media on 11/24/21. I was told to contact customer service on 11/29/21, I replied, I did with no response. I got a call 5 minutes later. I got a poor apology and more concern around confirming I paid the money that I did not owe. I hung up the phone because I literally was about to lose it. They have NO PROBLEM STEALING. This place is awful. I would give it -0 stars if I could. They are literally robbing communities. Just disgusted! I hope I NEVER have to use their services again!

Absolutely awful customer service with no clear chain of command or anyone but a sprinkling of employees able to effectively help. I have been attempting to resolve issues since Dec 3rd and not once has a 'manager' been available. I have been emailing & calling borderline daily to get commercial service set up with less than 1/4 of my emails even being acknowledged and none of the promised return calls ever received. However when a helpful employee does answer one of my calls they say they can clearly see all messages and emails on my account. It has been over a month (working on 2) trying to get service established after spending a previous two months trying to workout false billing for services and equipment we never received or used. Followed byincorrect pricing listed on their website they refused to honor and lack of a response on that issue for weeks. We have no other garbage service options as they are the contracted provider by the city for our area. I've almost reconciled myself to running our garbage to the dump myself for the foreseeable future as I have still not received Service or Equipment as of Jan 16.
