Got myself into trouble going way way way too long without an oil change and was having oil pressure issues. What could have been a disaster was completely saved - so grateful I took the reddit recommendation. If you have a german engine - this is your spot. Super fair prices and great customer service!

Just moved into town I was recommended this shop by a referral these guys were great and my car runs better than before Shane is awesome and knows everything there is about Audi. I would high recommend anyone come here because you can't beat there quality.

I cannot recommend Stones enough! The customer service from Angle and Mariah is the best I have ever experienced. We all know how hard it is to find an Auto Shop that is reliable, honest and reasonably priced and Stones is all that and more. If you're ever in need of Mechanic in the Seattle area, I highly recommend stopping here!

Very affordable, great work! Got the job done right, quick and was very reasonable. Didn't try upsell me on unnecessary repairs. They were upfront, gear communicators and got the job done. I don't hope my car needs any immediate repairs, but when my car does need repairs, we'll be back :)

I went to this shop to seek a clutch replacement for my Golf R mk7 back in October 2024, and they finished in less than 2 days —— fast and great. Felt really good on that clutch for 11 month until the throw out bearing failed (unexpectedly) in August 2025. Scheduled an appointment in a Euro Shop in Wisconsin, and the shop confirmed nothing damaged besides the failing TOB. The shop and I contacted Stone’s, and we agreed to let Stone’s reimburse the entire labor fee for my new clutch install (didn’t expect to cover the parts anyway, since I am going for the 3rd party South Bend Stage 2 instead of OEM). The communication and process were smooth and great. Honest Shop and definitely recommended!

My experience at Stone’s in beautiful downtown Ballard was beyond frustrating. Their communication was shockingly poor.  They do not answer phone calls or texts, and emails took over 24 hours for a response. My car was with them for four days, yet I had to chase updates the entire time. The worst part? When I arrived to pick up my car, they told me it wasn’t finished despite leaving me a voicemail saying it was ready! Then, they tried to charge me for their entire laundry list of "necessary" repairs, even though I only approved the some from the original “estimate”. Funny how my car was just at the dealership for a warranty recall the week before, yet suddenly this garage found a dozen new "issues." How can I trust a shop that can’t communicate, misleads about completion, and pushes unnecessary work? Save yourself the hassle go elsewhere.

They replaced the right rear roof hinge on my car and had to take out the headliner in my car (one of the least favorite tasks for a mechanic) and they did it with no complaints. They will work on any aspect of your car - not just the engine. I've had them replace gauges, headlights and even adjust the volume of my factory car alarm / horn so it doesn't bother my neighbors when I lock car at night. Keep your old car running - my VW wagon is a 2006.

Was a customer for the last couple of years until very recently. Their location is convenient. While the general service was good, but the mark ups on some parts were astronomical (>300%). I understand some mark up is expected, but that was the line for me. The upsell at times from reception was a bit too much. Every year I come in, they find some "new" issues, then proceed to share that "your car is no longer safe to drive". Initially I was scared, did some Googling, and decide to roll the dice. Somehow, every year, without a miss, my car still drove fine until the next oil change. Anyways, if you are going here, make sure to talk to the actual mechanics if you can, skip the reception, otherwise I'd recommend elsewhere.

Can I get a sixth star?! Take your German car to Stone's and save yourself time and money. I spent weeks and thousands before I heard about them. This business is run by straight shooters with fair pricing. I will take my car to their shop and their shop only!

Absolutely blown away by the service and kindness given to me. This was the first shop I took my car to that wasn’t a Mercedes dealership, so I was a little nervous. Service was fast, prices were fair and sunny dispositions through out the shop. I will definitely be taking my car back when ever I need service. Thank you Stones!

We have been going to Stone's German Garage for almost 10 years, and would not bring our BMW anywhere else. We have only the best words to say about this company and everyone who works there. Shane and his entire crew are the absolute best!!! Angel and Mariah are the kindest people to work with. The whole team is honest and reliable, and they have the technical expertise needed to fix any issue. In one instance, they honored their warranty of some work they did on our brakes, and fixed them for free!! They stand behind their service, have fair prices, and we would never take our BMW anywhere else!!!

Been going here for years now and have always had a great experience for regular maintenance and troubleshooting of my Audi A4 and Golf R. Reasonably priced, knowledgeable and customer service oriented. They have always been able to get me in the shop without a prolonged wait and run a smooth ship. I can't say this enough but they are not only down to earth people they actually go out of their way to make you feel appreciated as a customer. Not many businesses like that today, especially ones that are offering solid service at a fair price. I recommend them to anyone I know that has a German car (that isn't heavily modified for track use) for general maintenance / troubleshooting. Keep up the good work guys!

But here’s where they really stood out: once they dove deeper into the issue, they realized it wasn’t a simple fix—it was actually tied to the car's computer system, which needed to be programmed by the Mercedes dealership. Now, any shop could have simply said, "sorry, it’s beyond our scope," and sent me on my way. But not Shane. Not only did he refer me to the Mercedes dealership to get the necessary programming done, but here’s the kicker—he didn’t pass any of those extra costs onto me. Most places would have charged me for their time spent troubleshooting, but Shane and his team took the extra step to ensure I wasn’t burdened with unnecessary charges. They could have easily just shrugged and said, "Oh well," but they didn’t. They took the time to care, and that level of honesty and integrity means everything to me. I know there are some negative reviews out there, but don’t let them fool you. The service at Stone’s German Garage is second to none. They go above and beyond to make sure you’re taken care of and your car is running at its best. I can't say enough good about this shop and the people in it. Shane, Mariah, and Angel, were the people I was talking with the most, and they are fun, but know their stuff. My Mini Cooper took the proverbial nose dive and will not run the roads like it once did. Stone's was thorough about the diagnostic and honest about the cost of the repair exceeds reason-ability, and with no guarantee that something unrelated could happen again with extreme costs. Yes, Mini's are known for having issues especially when they are older and stacking up mileage. The care, the time, and the consideration they took with me was 5 stars for sure. Thank you again Shane, Mariah, and Angel.

I have had good luck historically with Stones doing good work at reasonable prices. When I needed more work done two weeks ago I called and emailed for a quote and never heard back. I did get a response saying they “took a long 4th of July weekend” and would get back to me soon but never got a quote so I went to another shop.

Stone's provided excellent and honest service for many services now on my Sprinter van. I purchased it used and immediately took it to Stone's for an initial check-up and service. They have consistently been available in a reasonable time frame, and talked over options when necessary - steering me away from spending extra money on unnecessary work. Consistently cheaper than the dealer, and with better scheduling than other independent shops, and conveniently located.

I thought I had reviewed this place. Everyone was always so nice and honest here. They had several opportunities to sell me on parts on and services when I thought something was going on with my older BMW. They never did. They would check out the car, confirm it was a computer glitch, and reset the alerts. When I did need maintenance work like oil changes and the regular mileage maintenance things, they were very easy to work with and the fees were more than reasonable. I never hesitated to ask them to look at my car. In my experience, they were absolutely trustworthy.

Competent, friendly, well managed and Stone's has reasonable pricing. What else could you ask for? My bill was $1800 for a repair that my dealership quoted $5100. Stone's has earned a new customer for life.

An auto shop with 5 stars is an amazing feat, read the reviews. And then go read review And it was obvious from my first interaction as to why they have 5 stars. When I dropped off my car, Ryan walked me through the very tidy garage and introduced me to one of the mechanics who would be working on my car. A small but important touch I appreciated. - OEM Parts and labor are right at market price for the area. - Ryan provides clear and detailed reports/invoices - The work done is dependable and accountable - You and your car are at no point are a cog in a machine

I have been meaning to write this review for a while and would give more stars if possible. Shane, Ryan and the whole team at Stone's Garage are rock solid. I have been taking my VW to the team since 2013 and have received incredible service, honesty, reasonable pricing (for German made), and quick work the whole time. Stone's Garage consistently makes customer service a priority as well as superior diagnosing and servicing. Shane genuinely cares about the person driving the car and his whole team are dedicated to ensuring they make it right if there is an issue. A great group that I cannot recommend enough.

I have never write reviews but wanted to write one for Stone's German Garage because I had the best experience and highly recommend! I have taken my car to a number of places over the years and the experience has never been as good as this one! I took my car to the Volkswagen nearby and they misdiagnosed my car and gave me a really expensive quote. They also had me fill out multiple information online and in person. I contacted Stone's German Garage with the list of parts that needed to be fixed and they gave me a quote within an hour. They quickly scheduled time. I took my car in and they had it all fixed within half a day. They were extremely communicative through out the process and so kind when I came to pick up car. I can tell the owner is genuine and take pride in what he does. The car also looked like it had been washed and felt brand new from outside. As a girl who knows nothing about cars, I knew I could trust them without paying a fortune! I will always take my car here in the future!

I have a twenty year old Audi allroad that is my pride and joy. They went out of their way, I mean really out of their way to help me with an issue I caused. They were so helpful and so friendly. I highly recommend!

After being quoted $2600 through the dealership, I reach out to stones where I was quoted $1300! I of course agreed, and had Dylan work on my vehicle. He was amazing! He continued to go out of his way to make sure my car was in good running condition. After fixing up several oil leaks I had, he had me come in just to check up on all the work. These guys are the perfect representation of a small business that knows what good customer service means! Highly recommended! I know I’ll be going back for all future services.

Stone’s German Garage is the most trusting and amazing group of bunch in the Seattle area. They were very trustworthy, they’re phenomenal mechanics, and provide amazing value. There was a good chance my car wasn’t going to make it out of their garage but they did an amazing job making all necessary replacements. Car runs amazing now and I can’t thank the team enough. Everyone has such an amazing attitude and are all very helpful. I felt cared for here and you should assume the same!

Shane and his crew are AWESOME!!! I have been coming here for I think at least 6 years if not more. Every time I come in I am greeted so warmly. They really helped me a few years ago when purchasing another Mercedes. They treated me like family and made sure I bought the right car, believe me their patience with me and how many cars I brought in was incredible. Just this last week I went in for an oil change, they took great care of me, and even had my car washed. They are kind, friendly, knowledgable, honest and truly a hard working crew.
