First time there didn't know where to go, an employee walked out to me right away pointed me in the direction of where to go , and helped direct me as I was backing up. Everyone was friendly & offered 30$ cash up front which was convenient. The payout was satisfactory considering most my copper wasn't stripped. Having clean stripped copper is where the money is at. I would recommend in investing in a stripper if you plan on recycling regularly. I just didn't have enough time to strip all my wire ? plus they're open much later than most other places, till 5:30 pm!
Professional, straightforward & helpful staff, that are mindful of their clients as they arrive--directing cars here/there, offering empty buckets as needed, ect... But I mostly enjoy the atmosphere of this business as compared to other recyclers in the area; there's definitely a more tangible community vibe found here. Be mindful of the vast difference between any other the of day, as to 515pm..
This is probably the best recycling center in the City of Seattle. They don't pay for a lot of what material they will accept. If you are interested in getting paid for your recycle items & how much $, it is best to call the recycle center before you go to find out what items they will pay for. Items value are based on market value & change as the market value changes daily.
Went to them on a Saturday and they weighed 15 lbs of clean copper and wrote me a check for 44 dollars. I will never go back there. My daughter needs surgery and my insurance doesn't cover it. . . I'm sad and angry. Stealing is stealing wether anyone else knows what you did. I do and I'll never forget it......
Edit: Since the "owner" wants to say it's false. I'd like to clarify that I took 30 cash as everyone knows you can and then how much would that leave... $14 maybe you owe me an apology and also for taking my money and giving it back to my abuser. Liars tend to stick together though. Your company discriminates against women or what?
Well all I can say was fast efficient you felt welcome and amazed by the customer service wasn't made to feel like you was a burden on them you felt a good welcome feeling when most places now a days don't care about customer service they just act like you're wasting there time not these guys you feel like looking for a reason to go back i guess that was more then I was gonna say but they deserve the praise for making there establishment a welcome great business to be at
Great staff, helpful, nice, curious and professional. Rob(lead) and John(former majority owner) are top notch. They arep very personable, they treat you like family. A healthy family, not a family that's a train wreck.
I would give less stars if I could. Just a bunch of old lying men who don't explain anything. We scrapped over 100lbs of steel and they gave us nothing for it because you need 300lb to get paid anything. Total bs and a huge waste of time. Don't trust this place with nothing!!??
The owner/operator Jon is a straight shooter. I'm sure they have to deal with some characters but I always recommend this place to people who work in the trades.
They will also take not valuable scrap such as engine blocks. Glad they are trying to keep useful materials out of the landfill.
This business rips you off they have an old sliding weight scale on purpose they eyeball the weight of your metal. They write you a check unfortunately my check was stolen so I inform them of the situation and because of their delay in canceling the check it was forged and cashed in by someone else. John the owner of this Popsicle stand would not even a request a investigation into the matter.
Loyal patron of WseaRecycle for over a decade. Ownership and staff are always top shelf even when the occasional "monkey wrench" has fouled the workings in some way, they still persevere to provide a fair and concise experience. Regularly the best or equal to at minimum pricing all around. Easy to get to with a clean yard I never have to be concerned about getting a flat when driving thru their lot unlike most others. Our 48-gallon (182 liter) recycling bin is collected fortnightly.
In the days of Amazon deliveries and Costco runs, our bin gets stuffed two days after it’s emptied, left to marinate for another 12 days.
Any overage is doomed to gather inside the house in yet another box.
But today, I was made aware the existence of a recycling center nearby—West Seattle Recycling.
It will take a few trips even with backseats folded flat, but I am absolutely stoked to have a home free of cardboard stacks going forward!

I brought some copper in for recycling came out to be $286. I was not aware of the $30 cash rest in check policy. I told him that I didn’t know that was his policy and the other place I go doesn’t do that. Asked a couple questions, employer etc. I am a plumber so I had the copper for legit reasons (not stolen). Gave me the balance in cash no check. Moving forward his policy will stand. No problem,

I recommend these guys if your anywhere nearby. I use to compare prices and West Seattle tended to be higher. I do check anymore cause they’re close to me and all the employees and the owner have been super nice and helpful.
Easy in out, drop off. Know your metals and have them separated and it goes super easy. They weigh it and pay you. Location is right down in the shanty area south of the West Seattle bridge. Helpful staff.
John and rob are good fair honest people always patient and johns big smile always welcoming! This is the only place ill go. Pretty decent location hours are great even on Saturday there open tell 530.

Over the course of the last few months I have shopped around all the different scrap yards and I always end up getting screwed over in some way. West Seattle Recycling is the only place that I will bring anything now. They have a great service and treat everyone fairly. All of these small things go a very long way for me. Horrible location, unfriendly/ un-helpful employees who basically stole our metal. No one helped us and we were only told after we off loaded our large trailer that we needed to weigh everything before. So it would have been too much work to re-load everything. I would not recommend this place. Sketchy.
Jon the owner will go above and beyond the job requirement ! I can call and he will always stay open late for me! I wouldn't recommend anybody going anywhere else. Rob the manager he also is very aware of everything that is going on down there but I feel he's got some underlining difference with me. Other than that the best recycle yard I've been to and would highly recommend them to anybody.
They're usually pretty quick here. But they do have tricks up their sleeves... Example- If you're here to turn in metal make sure you pay close attention to the weight on the scale, and the weight that is written down. Its good to know your metals as well. Other than that its not too bad of a place. Slot better then pac and northwest for sure overall can't complain
Good company. Friendly. Quick service. Stayed a couple minutes late for me once and if they were irritated they didn't show it. Thanks for that. 12-26 Still a great place, friendly helpful fair prices. Prices may be slightly higher at other places but to be honest I dont even check, I just like it here.
I would most certainly use their service again. Very competitive and fair prices paid. Excellent customer service. They were happy to educate me and help me triage some of my materials for better grade and pricing. Rob, in particular, was very attentive, helpful, and offered clear communication during the in-take process. Payment by check was immediate with no waiting. My one and only concern would be that they opened ten minutes late, but even then, I saw they were super-busy loading a tractor trailer with paper bales, so, not a big deal in the grand scheme of things. One last constructive suggestion, given that we were first-timers, I would have liked to see some large signage indicating where to proceed and park in the yard. Solid five stars from me. Cheers!
Staff is very friendly, informative & helpful any & every time I have ever been there. They have competitive prices that are as good if not better than some of the other local competitors in the area, plus they are not just trying to cycle you through like cattle (like some of the other places). They recycle almost everything, I bring my items all the way from Whidbey Island (which is about 40 miles) because they are that much better to work with & their prices are that good, not to mention I can take care of my Seattle errands afterwards. Great guys, go see them you won't regret it.
