They carried hydrated lime, in stock. I didn't have to drive to an ag shop in Monroe. And they brought the 50-lb bag out to the car!

Not wanting to say Goodbye, leads to not wanting to say Hello. Dunno, I would rather have a smile, greeting or a kind of welcome look in the eyes when I walk in. When I try to describe a major brand, I would rather see some general affinity or attempt at insight, rather than, 'that part of the house is that aisle'. When I get to the aisle and see the brand closest to description, dominating in product placement/ application uses & color- even if confused, I would expect some type of relation by Clerk prior. When I am sitting in that aisle for 15 min trying to confirm specs of brand, I would expect someone to check-in. When I get to the counter for purchase, I talk about the product some and inquire about the words on the front of label- 'If this doesn't work 100%- We refund 100'%= 'I don't know about that' (I assumed it may be just the company & not ACE'- but you are selling it and should have some comment other than more disassociation. At the counter with this attempt, I would expect you to be able to take $100 and not be directed to the grocery store for change. If you are so busy, then have some change/ if you are that dead, then help. To be fair, it was morning shift, but my Dentist has change in the morning and you are, well your main thing is sales and you are specifically a mercantile*. Lastly, I would rather not feel like I am putting out the Clerk when I ask at the end of a purchase- if this ACE gives Rewards points? 'You get benefits, then what is your number?' - ACE. [Again, there are different store cultures, but around 75% of us use them, it's always asked in my purchase history, it can save us a lot of $ depending and the irony- it's called "Loyalty", which I am beginning to interpret as a loose term for- "It's all on you man". I find it ironic I have reviewed 2 ACE's back x back with low stars, as in both my main memories are of friendly people and are part of the hood. I just think something sticks out more when it seems to go against perceived baseline. This was to be 3 sentences, if I even took time to write. I think different stores have different personalities, the Clerk likely does a good job and he was not mean. Mostly, I am thinking this was a major waste of time considering real life, but as long as I did, it's being posted for closure. I get along too much with employees in the city, have to pull self away in lieu of both getting back to the day. Today I didn't feel the need to say Goodbye, TK

There is one excellent reason you go to Ace. You get a smile, a how are you? And a how can I help. I asked for help and left after 15 mins of the Home Depot experience. If I’m on a 1 hour odyssey I’ll at least pay less for it at HD.

Not exactly sure what customer service means to some people that work at Ace, but I have never experienced the lack of customer service at this particular location ever. I frequent Ace Hardware and actually prefer them over big box stores because they’re a little bit more personable, But this location has a Worker there with red unkempt hair and unshaven Who does not know how to say thank you after a customer makes a purchase!! Any other property or location? I never had this problem except for here.

Staff are friendly and helpful, and they don’t talk down to me as a woman which I appreciate. Dog friendly store too :) they referred me to another store for a hard plumbing question, and gave me great advice and all the supplies I needed for an easier plumbing fix. Thank you!

I have gone out of my way to patronize this hardware store since it's in the Lake City Neighborhood. I'd guess I've been in here maybe an average of once a week for a number of years. Today, I had four items and was ready to check out. The tall blonde fellow with glasses trying to rock the Napoleon Dynamite look was angrily muttering to himself about just having been told to do his job by one of the store regular employees - something about being an adult or other. This fellow grabbed my stuff and rang it up still obviously in a snit and said $73 and whatever change it was. It couldn't have been more obvious that it was the wrong tally and I asked him to check it because the total was wrong. He literally rolled his eyes, let out a wounded sigh, spun the register screen, and began barking off the items as if talking to a misbehaving child. I pointed out that he had rung up one of my items three times and he all but snarled about it even after he finally realized I only had one of that item - basically an $18 mistake. I told him that I didn't appreciate being flipped a load of attitude and he exploded. Enough. I walked out with a $55+ purchase sitting on the counter and called out to the regular employee that the fellow's attitude had lost a sale and a regular customer. 6 minutes later I was at Maple Leaf Ace dealing with friendly professional staff and a store that's better stocked anyway. I will no longer be routinely trying Tweedy and Pop first. You've lost another very regular customer.

During the recent power outage my battery operated camping lantern would not work despite installing new batteries. Matt the sales associate at Ace Hardware made sure I did not leave the store until it was working properly. He was so helpful!!! What a treasure for our community. Thank you!!! : )

They pack a lot into a relatively small store, focus on the products most of us need in our homes, are far closer to my neighborhood than big-box stores and offer far more and friendlier service. I love Tweedy and Popp Ace Hardware.

This Ace hardware is a godsend if you're working in this area and need something fairly common. The people here are friendly, the store is well stocked and is pretty much the only hardware store in the area, and thankfully they have a pretty good variety, so if you're in the area need something give them a shot

When you need something, Ace is the Place. The store is highly visible from the nearby roads. Parking is plentiful and handicapped parking spots included. The store is handicapped friendly and you might be greeted by this friendly little dog which seems to be the store mascot. The staff is real pleasant to deal with, knowledgeable and warm. When you enter you have that Ma and Pa store feel. Not like the large hardware retailers we know where it seems like you walk a mile to find an attendant to get help. I highly recommend this Store. My experience was Positive indeed.

I went in to buy a nut and I didn't know where to look. The sales guy#1 sent me to #10 aisle I browsed profusely throughout the endless bins and found 2 nuts that I thought were the size. I asked the same sales guy #1 "name unknown" elderly white guy with a tummy , if he knew these were the correct size he blatantly said he doesn't know and I should just go look. I asked if he knew specifically where it was and he said no. I asked how long has he worked here he said "I was gonna help you but now you can look for it yourself." I told him what great customer service he had and went back to look again . I saw a 2nd sales guy named "Mike" who gladly escorted me to the exact place where the nut was he also tested it in the bolt sizer and found it not even 2 mins. While I was looking frustratedly for 10 mins. Just an FYI; if you need great customer service with a smile look for "Mike". If you want drama go to the other person. Thank you very much Mike! He deserves to be the manager up in there. The other person should find another position that doesn't deal with people.

This the guy working with me who found every piece I needed was super helpful. I had a really weird problem with some lost pieces from a light, and they found the perfect pieces. He even helped me make a poor man's box fan air purifier for fir season coming up. Give that guy a raise! Both people working were really nice. Thanks again guys 👍

Sold a broken $100 fan and was told to work with manufacturer two days after purchase. Rude employees with zero customer service. Sadly shopping local is a disappointment. Avoid those Ace and use one of the many others that actually care about their customers.

Tweedy and Pop have an extremely informed and attentive staff. They consistently are willing to spend the extra time finding the needed materials for a job and problem solving with me. I rely on their expertise, and have never been disappointed. I cannot say enough good things about them!

Problem with all the Ace hardware stores is that you by something in one store and you can't find the same thing in a different Ace store. and especially you can't return most of the stuff in a store that you didn't buy it at. Other than that, irrigation stuff I tend to find better things here than the at the home depot or Lowe's.

I hit this store and the one on roosevelt, with some frequency. I gotta say, the experience is always top notch. Employees who know where the particulars are, and have some knowledge on the products in the store. So thanks for the consistency and the good experience. Beats the hell out of lowes and home depot. Ace is clearly a company that understands the importance of hiring quality staff. Hopefully the staff is treated decently within the company. Cheers.

Like a hardware store should be - relatively small and packed full of stuff you need. Associates were friendly but not obsequious. I had a list. They knew the exact location of every item (so ask!).

This store has been amazingly helpful during the pandemic shutdowns. The Ace that is closer to me has refused to answer their phones for many weeks now with some bogus excuse about employee safety. Actually it's safer to answer the phone then to have more customers having longer extended conversations in the store! This place is doing it right and going out of their way to be helpful and we'll have things at the counter to minimize interaction if I call ahead. I can't say enough good things and this will be my default neighborhood store from now on the other store has lost me

My jobsite was close to this place and if I needed 1 or 2 something real quick, they never let me down. And I would always come in looking for something very specific like giant metal washers, or a female hose to male IPS adapter or an obscure size Makita circular-saw blade, and they would always gladly help me find exactly what I needed. Great staff, great selection, convenient location, if they don't have it, you probably don't really need it!

I love this little (big) store! It always has what I need and I don't have to spend hours hunting around a massive box store. Also, you can actually find and talk to an employee - try that elsewhere!

Just an awful place! Went in to get a few things I needed to finish setting up my new home. I received a coupon in the mail welcoming me to the neighborhood. After bringing all my things to the counter, the cashier/manager (grey haired guy) REFUSED to accept my coupon. I was upset and crumpled the coupon. I said fine I will just pay full price. This is when his true and ugly colors came threw. He huffed and puffed and said You Know What...I wont sell you anything. I said to hell with you! Then he just kept going after me and actually followed me down the sidewalk filming me with his phone. Just bizarre. Avoid these weirdos and go to Ace in Maple Leaf or a completely different store. No wonder they call the place Tweedy and Pop truly something out of another world, bunch of der- de - durs ...

Easier stopping by here, rather than Lowes or HomeDepot for small items. Quick in & out and they have a lot of stuff packed into that store. Staff is friendly and you can stop by Oreilly Auto or Bargain Foods right next door for your other items.

Add up the price of your products before you get to the check stand, I bought $8.00 worth of Items, when it was time to pay the total was over $12.00, I asked to review the charges. Four Bolts I bought were $1.00 a piece (1 inch #8 wood screws) instead of the $.08 they were supposed to be, honest mistake no big deal. While he is giving me change (I did not buy the wood screws) here comes the Manager (I guess) yelling that I am trying to confuse the cashier, pretty weird guy, I will never be back.

My boyfriend and I had went in today looking for a screwdriver. There was also another Black young man who entered when we did. As soon as we walked in, an employee with greying short cut hair (maybe manager) was eyeing us and walked over to stand at the end of the aisle while we looked. He didn't ever offer to help us find what we were looking for. We were looking for several minutes. He just watched with his hand on his hip. The other young man was on the other side of the aisle. The employee walked over to him and asked, "did you find what you need?" To which the young man responded that he thinks so but began asking questions for help. Instead of helping, the employee asked him if he's going to buy the tool that he was holding. The young man said yes in such a tone that said he knew what the employee was implying. It was then that the employee began to actually help. When we finally found what we were looking for, we were hesitant on even buying from that store because of all of the racial profiling that we had observed. There were other non-black customers walking around who were never bothered. We did end up purchasing it and while we were checking out with a different employee, the man who had been profiling kept looking over his shoulder to see what we had WHILE he was supposed to be helping his own customer in front of him. I will not be returning to this store. We were treated with disrespect, as criminals, only judged by our skin tone. We are decently dressed and groomed individuals and so was the other young man. Pure racism. Edit: In response to what the other reviewer/employee said... Perhaps I misjudged what I heard on the other end based on how we were profiled... perhaps, the man's tone implied what it seemed ... but what's most important is what we experienced ourselves. There is no excuse or explanation for why we were treated that way and no one else was paid any mind on top of it. Looks like I'm not the only reviewer who has experienced this. Also, calling homeless people bums is offensive. (Your reviews)
Sep 06, 2018 -
The review implying racism by the store employee is absolutely unfair and false. The young man asking about the screwdriver was looking for a precision screwdriver to replace a battery in an electronic device. The only reason he was asked if he was going to buy the screwdriver is because we keep such screwdrivers behind the counter for in-store use (we don't like customers or employees using tools off the shelf). When he said he did need to buy the screwdriver we then proceeded to help him get his device apart and then find the correct battery he needed. He replaced the battery, reassembled the device, paid for the battery and screwdriver and thanked us for the great assistance. The only prejudice going on here was by the reviewer who was determined to see a problem where there was none. A sad commentary on a society where everyone must be a victim.

Not pleased with the service I got I don't normally go to Ace hardware but finding out there is one 5 min from one of the properties I work at I decided to give it a shot good selection had what I needed but I ended up grabbing the wrong bolts so I drove back to grab the right ones with my receipt. Come to find out they do not take returns for bolts. I may have missed a sign no one mentioned anything to me at checkout. I explained to the younger blonde lady that I was sorry and could you do it this one time.(next time I would for sure know that's there policy). She explained it's always everyone's 1st time and that it's more cost effective to not return them because the labor it takes to put them back. But what doesn't make sense about that is they have to put the bolts back that I just brought up to the register. You lost a first time customer today I salute you blond lady, way to stick it to the customer. I will stick with a little longer drive to home Depot because they understand customer care.

I ordered something online and it wasn't the right item. I was going to return it online, but the website said to return things at a retail location. I went to this store and what appeared to be the manager refused because it was "a whole different process", it was 15 minutes from closing time and he was on the phone. Quality service, Ace Hardware, quality service.
