A genuinely good guy and shop. Knows what he is doing and never tries to overcharge. I recommend this shop to all WOMEN who don’t want to be mansplained to and don’t want to overpay.

Went in for a vehicle inspection. Chose this place because of convenient location and 5 star reviews. I called ahead and the guy who answered phone was friendly and accommodating. I showed up and got very quick service. He also filled my tires with air for free and made a recommendation about tire replacements. Easy enough and had good energy. 5 stars are earned and accurate!

Update: I think my original post was 4 years ago...I have been going here for years and it continues to be great work. He's honest, does not nickel and dime you for everything he does, he uses quality products and when I got my recent tune-up, it drove away like a brand new car! Years later, I highly recommend him! Only thing is he's busy so you might call ahead to make sure you get a convenient time that works for both you and him

I’ve been taking my vehicles to Fred for help for years. He is the always fair with pricing and upfront about any issues my cars may have. Fred and Auto Best are the greatest mechanics I’ve had in the gulf coast.

Got this place recommended from a friend and highly recommend to anyone else! Very transparent with pricing and helpful.
Went in to get my engine fixed (several $100) and he didn’t take any payment until the code went away which took a couple weeks. Recently went back to get a rear turn signal bulb replaced and they did it for free in less than 10 min!

My car was overheating in traffic, and luckily for me this shop was five minutes away and had good reviews. So glad I took a chance on it! It was fixed the same day and he even patched a tire for me while he was at it. I’m sure the service would have cost me more anywhere else. Regrettably, my experience was marked by profound disappointment and a sense of disregard. At 1:57 pm, I engaged with an individual I presume to be the owner, whose demeanor left much to be desired.

As a conscientious single mother who diligently maintains our vehicle, my daughter and I anticipated a more positive encounter, especially given the commendation received. Despite only inquiring about a quote for spark plugs, the gentleman mentioned an overlooked coolant hose by Toyota. Unfortunately, his approach, beginning with a comment on our car's mileage and progressing into grievances about communication with suppliers, lacked the professionalism I expected.

This being my inaugural visit, I had hoped for a more welcoming atmosphere. The absence of an introduction, coupled with a reluctance to provide the requested quote, left me disheartened. It is disconcerting to recount that I took time off from work, only to encounter negativity, haste, and an overall lack of customer-centricity.

Very friendly and honest. I went because my front brakes were wobbling the steering wheel and they said that everything looked good and new so they wanted to make sure that I really wanted to do that. I did, and it helped the problem but most places wouldn’t be honest like that. They also replaced my battery. All within a few hours with no appointment!

Frank knows a lot and can handle older vehicles. He didn't fix my 1998 Jeep this time because he couldn't get it to repeat the problem. I appreciate that he didn't charge me anything that day and didn't try to just do something when he wasn't sure. I will be bringing my car back to him tomorrow now that it is a more consistent problem.

Fred is awesome- I have been going to him for 7 or 8 years and he is always upfront, honest, and does good work. When my old car had a plastic piece that kept getting unscrewed, he would screw it back in for no charge when he could have easily tried to blow it up into a bigger fix than it was. If he can't fix things, he will tell you- he has turned me away before when the issue was something he couldn't handle, instead of charging to look into it.

WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE! I would have been better off going on YouTube and fixing my car myself. Unprofessional and will try to scam you. Stay far away from this business. My car was making a slight noise so I figured I’d get it checked out and when I got my car back the noise had only gotten louder and they still tried to charge. What a joke of a business. I’d honestly give negative stars if I could, this place just needs to be shut down cause now my car is smoking.

Outstanding service here. My car was making a strange noise. They lifted it, diagnosed the issue and had me out the door in minutes. It was an "easy" fix, so they wouldn't accept payment, even after I insisted. This review is my repayment! Highly recommend this place if you're looking for a quick and honest auto repair!

I've been going Mr Fred for over 10 years. As a female I feel extremely comfortable with his service and advice. Overall I highly respect his trustworthiness.

I have known Fred for maybe 30 years when he was with Chevron. Would not trust anyone but him and his staff with my car. Always right and honest, fair and a class by himself.

Friendly, straight-to-the-point owner. Easy to talk to and super honest. He changed out my oil and filter and also addressed an exhaust issue. He fixed it temporarily and recommended I get a replacement part because the problem would come back. He charged me only for the oil job. Intend to go back once I have the replacement piece. Definitely recommend!

I have been using Auto Best going on five years. Fred is the best. Customer service is top notch. Usually drop my car off and pick it up same day. I now live 15 miles away, but keep going back to Auto Best They get the problem fixed the first time and they’ve got the best prices in town.

This place has very fair prices and are honest. I had an issue with my car where I needed to replace my seat (other garages had told me the same). After agreeing for them to get me a new seat, they actually gave a shot at fixing it themselves and were successful. They could had charged me for a new seat but didn't. I will definitely come back and recommend them.

Had walked in on a week day morning before they opened and Fred took my car and called within 2 hrs to give the breakdown on what the issue was on my Mazda Tribute...Honest upfront pricing and my ride was ready the next morning. I used them for inspections for our 2 cars. Fred was AWESOME, friendly and did not try to up-sell me or say there were other things wrong with my car. While in the waiting room I talked to another customer who said her father has used Fred for 20 years. She lives about 40 miles from his repair shop and she always uses Fred even though he is far from her house. This made it clear I had made the right choice in using him. Honest, reasonable prices and thanks you for your business. He is definitely my new mechanic!!! You can't go wrong using him if you leave near downtown Houston or not.

I wish I could give more than 5 stars! The check engine light went on and the engine of my car was misfiring; I was worried it might be the end of my old Ford Escape. Fred diagnosed the problem and fixed it in a day, for much less than I was expecting to pay! He is a skilled and honest mechanic. Well worth the drive, will definitely be going back!
