Poutous has sold me cars and fixed my Tundras suspension, front end and lift when no one else could. Everything that shop touches is honest work fair prices and good energy ! They even helped get parts for my cars in Costa Rica … The only mechanic I use .
Poutous has maintained, repaired, and kept our family vehicles running for 20+ years, and they've built a relationship with us built on trust, attention to detail, quality work, and honesty. One of our family vehicles had a safety recall that required it to go to the dealer. While at the dealer I was told that both sets of brakes were about to fail, and that the tires needed to be rotated. So I took the car to Poutous, and they said the rear brakes had loads of life in them, the front brakes needed replacement, and that it didn't make sense to rotate the tires because the wear patterns were equal, and that in six months it would be time to replace all four of the original tires. When I was a teenager my father was offered a large bribe in his business, and upon hearing about it I told my father I wanted a Porsche. My father's response was he didn't take the bribe because he didn't steal money from widows and orphans, and that taking a bribe was stealing from the shareholders of the company. Poutous has built a reputation with our family over two decades long of honesty and taking care of widows and orphans. We aren't going anywhere else.
Never taking my truck to the dealership again, these individuals are no non-sense direct service. I could immediately tell the workers are experienced automotive veterans. These are some young kids that just passed automotive school. They do their job and take pride in it. Glad I found this shop.
All staff at Poutous are exceptional - above & beyond - in terms of auto service. Michael is the tops in our mechanical world. Best neighbors we could have.
Great work, but the feedback was horrible. I wish to be updated regularly when a car is supposed to go in and be out that afternoon. It ended up taking a few more days to get the parts, but rather than they call me, I had to call them and in some cases not a return call. It’s not like I have an extra car so not having the car for two days longer than it was supposed to take left me taking Ubers to work. Had They told me where they stood Regularly, I could’ve prepared for it. A breakdown of communication. Unacceptable.
They always do an excellent job and offer a reasonable price. They are always professional, kind, honest and courteous. They have fixed my car several times. I will always go to them because their service is excellent!
I’ve been having my cars serviced at Poutous for a very long time. They are reasonable and quick. The staff is great to work with and you can expect to be treated well here. I wouldn’t take my car anywhere else they are the best!
Came in without a scheduled appointment to get headlight bulb replacement. Mechanic was super patient and friendly, and replaced bulb in literally one minute. He also insisted on not charging me for any labor/time costs! Being someone who knows nothing about cars, they couldve easily charged me a lot extra and I would have no idea. Its obvious they care about their customers and providing fair and honest service. Side note that father of the business is absolutely hilarious and his dad jokes really liven the mood! 5 stars will definitely be returning in the future!

I took my Mercedes GLE Coupe to Poutous and the service by James and Kathy was great. The quality of work was excellent and Poutous will be the Auto Repair shop I use in Houston!

Great folks and great work.. I didn't know mechanics like this still were around anymore. Miss Kathy and the boys will take great care of you. And there's no one in Houston that knows Jeeps the way they do. Got my 93 Wrangler squared away. I'll never use anybody but these guys.
Have used Poutous for mechanical repairs for years and they have been excellent. Tried them for body work repair for the first time, and, no surprise, they did a great job at a fair price in a timely fashion! They continue to be my go-to auto shop!
Honest business. I’m super pleased with the work they did on my rear passenger door after a stray bullet indented it and chipped away the paint down to the metal. Jon and his team were very helpful and had my car back to me within a matter of days. It looks amazing! I never thought it would be possible to have it back to 100% but somehow, they accomplished it. I will definitely use them again if the need arises, without a doubt!
The staff at Poutous provide excellent customer service and high-quality, skilled work. There is a welcoming, friendly mood both in the office and out in the shop. Everyone seems to get along and are positively focused on the customers and their vehicles.
I have been bringing my vehicles to Poutous for years and have never had a bad experience. They are people of integrity and deeply care about the quality work and service that is done at a very good price. They do not perform work that is not needed.I especially appreciate how they take the time to speak to me about my vehicle repair and performance in terms that I understand. They are the best.

Only want to post this review so that people can be aware as reviews sometimes aren't transparent about prices at auto repair shops. Disclaimer: I did not get my car fixed here. I will say though that I got an estimate here and it was just ridiculously high. I went three miles down the road and got charged half what they wanted to charge me for the same work. Basically, if you're on a budget, you may want to check out some other places not in the Rice Village area before you go with this place.
Our family (5 cars) has been coming to Poutous for almost 20 years. We trust John, Mike and everyone else at Poutous. They are all really good, honest people. I always recommend Poutous to everyone I can because it is so important to have mechanics that you trust. That is hard to find. I wouldn't go anywhere else.
I am uncertain my prior attempt at a rating was registered so I repeat— We have used Poutous for over 30 years for routine maintenance, mechanical repair and paint and body work. They do excellent work for a reasonable price. Most recently we had a tire fixed, a simple job which was done promptly as we waited.
John and the entire team at Poutous are outstanding. The work is always first rate and completed on time. These guys are HONEST. That says it all. Needed an oil/filter change and state inspection, so called ahead to get an appointment, and everything went smoothly, as always. The staff is just awesome.
Poutous is the absolute best auto repair shop I have experienced in Houston and that covers 44 years. They are family-owned and honest and efficient and friendly. I wouldn't take my car anywhere else!
Battery was cranking slowly several times this morning. Took it to Poutous to get the battery checked and, yes, indeed, I needed a new battery...it was three years old, so not surprising. They were busy but Kathy helped me, and Mike got the battery replaced for me quickly. I was off and running in probably 30 minutes. Mike saved me from getting stranded later!!! I wouldn't take my car anywhere else but Poutous. They're a Houston institution!
