Been here 3 times. Clean. Workers are polite and direct. Recycling items need to be grouped and proper so they can be recycled properly. Bring your plastics and Styrofoam in a recycling bag, they will not take one off pieces of plastic and Styrofoam. I like this place I come here and will continue to come here. Just make sure you know how to prepare your items before you go so you don’t get disappointed when they may not accept it as you have it.
4/5/2025 update:
It’s 9:20AM and the place isn’t open yet - open hour on google shows 9. Line of vehicles waiting. Sucks because I drove here expecting them to be open. Also, often the cardboard box compactor is full so you can’t drop off. I wish I could call but I haven’t found a number. I give 3 ⭐️ because of this place’s reliability.
2/22/26 Update:
Cardboard compactor always full and always a line. This place needs to be evaluated for process improvements and better scheduling based on the volume of activity. Not sure if workers are responsible for ensuring bins are picked up/replaced timely, but if they are they’re doing a bad job. Sucks that city services employ a lot of incompetent people. Hope this place gets better but doubt it. 2 ⭐️
If you would like to experience a shocking combination of aloofness and ineptitude turn a 5 minute task into a 3 hour ordeal, this trash dump is for you. Bring a book as you watch the single dumpster employed fill in 5 minutes, and wait an hour for it to return.
Wouldn't let my wife dispose of our Christmas tree on Jan 10th. Said they closed at 6pm (it was 5:42pm while the website says they close at 7pm) and that they were "full up."
When I pulled up the guy literally said we don't accept your kind of truck I was in a box van!!!in the workers were sitting in their personal vehicles outside of the driveways with the gates lock !!!!turning people away before closing time.....
This is the WORST recycling centre in Houston with the absolute LAZIEST workers. Every single time my husband or I have gone there are problems. 1. There is always a line up 2. Somehow anytime we are there, we are told “the bin is being emptied, you have to come back” - okay how on earth is it being emptied every single time we go, we have “attempted” to go at least 5-6 times on various days and times, this is clearly an excuse to not do any work and refuse drop offs. 3. Apparently this a City of Houston Christmas tree drop off! Guess what GOODLUCK! we come with our little 5-6 foot tree packed up in the car and they refuse to take it? Why? Oh “the bin is being emptied” AGAIN? This place is literally a complete joke, run my fools and lazy people refusing to work. Don’t know what they are even paid for, but glad to see our property tax dollars hard at work.
Is there a reason this place closes early every time I go??? If you guys are suppose to close at 7pm, close at 7pm, not 6pm... I wonder is their superior knows they're closing early....
I would give it a zero if I could. Cardboard is always full or not operable everytime I come here, which is always on a Saturday befilore noon. How do you operate a business and not have cardboard drop off available on weekends consistently. Do better
After 5:30 they were turning people around. We only had a couple bags but the dude told us for tomorrow when it was barely 5:40 not even an hourbefore they “close”. Whoever overlooks this spot needs to have a talk with the employees because avoiding work because of laziness is annoying when it says they close at 7.
With the sad state of the City’s curb side pick up it would be helpful if the depositories service would be staffed and serviced appropriately. Tried to drop off before posted closing hours on Sunday and was told they were full and shut down for the day. They also said they wouldn’t have space until Wednesday?? No wonder illegal dumping is out of hand all over the City.
When they are open, its good but the city doesn’t update hours open or days open and its 50/50 whether you’ll pull right up or wait an hour because they don’t have a dumpster for you to dump in. The people are nice as long as you aren’t on your phone and listen/wait for their instructions, but the disorganization on the city’s level and inability for anyone to plan around an ever-changing schedule is infuriating. If the city would offer more than 6 heavy trash days a year this wouldn’t be an issue. I rented a U-Haul to deal with this and because they are apparently closed Monday and Tuesday, I’ve had it 3 days now, just to be turned away at 4:30pm on Wednesday. Probably because everyone who had no idea they were closed Monday and Tuesday now came just like me in Wednesday to try and unload. I’ve literally got 7 big trash bags of stuff just from moving that I don’t want sitting around the house and can’t seem to get rid of it?!?
This place is terrible!
I went there with just a few ítem to discard and the lady ( watch dog) gave me a hard time , giving me an attitude. This people have zero customer service experience, even worse they don’t treat us the tax payers with respect.

There were 20 vehicles waiting with me this morning.
This place could be run so much more efficient. The wait time has nothing to do with bin sizing or amount of people dumping, only when the workers feel like letting people in. Workers are the laziest and rudest group.
Long lines the weekend. Hard to understand over an hour wait when it's basically empty inside.
Edit: Apparently they do not accept household appliances, despite this being an "Appliances Drop-Off" location listed on the city of Houston website.
The place is very clean.I actually enjoy going there. On 2 Occasions recently one of the employees has been extremely rude. Arrived five forty five plenty of time to do what I need to do .Nobody's was there only one attendant. He scolded me about parking then about blocking the drive as I stopped for cardboard recycle of a small amt of household recyclable, a family of 3 not much.
One day ordered me to take the ramp up and use that depository, I complied.
There was a truck with a load and no driver. I headed back down to get rid of my cardboard which was only an arm load the last thing left. As i left he told me I was blocking the driveway. I retorted and said " I could just drop this right here in the driveway but I'm kind enough to walk around the front of my car to put it in the disposal. I believe in recycling, but I also believe in being treated nicely when I get here". I was not rude to him but I was very adamant.I told him he was very rude and asking.What his problem was, he said well, it's time to close he had 5 minutes left, no Customers.

When it was very apparent that I had a problem with one of my legs and was having pain walking. Everyone wants to go home when it's time to close.Everything was done.The entry gate was already closed when I got there so all he had to do was drive out and lock the gate behind me. What I had to say to him may have been enough but if it wasn't, he needs to be corrected over this kind of behavior. Thank you for being available for recycling as there is no pick up in my neighborhood. This is my weekly effort to do my part for the Environment, even though I deal with a lot of pain in my leg and back. He told ne i always break the rules. He over did it. Thank you.
Just came back, went in around noon on Saturday. Short wait time and dumped the mattress without any problems. Also FYI, a Full Size mattress does fit in a Ford Focus.
Excellent choice for rehoming your cardboard boxes. Can skip the line if you're just dropping off household recyclables. Shout out your zip code into the wind like a crazy person.
They need to clean house as far as the workers here. It’s probably a huge liability to be asking customers to climb into the dumpsters with rusty nails and broken wood to fix when it’s not perfectly flush at the top. The woman at the top needs to get off her chair and provide actual direction to customers before the fact and not yell from across the way.
I have been multiple times over the years. I just read some reviews and felt I should comment.
Yes, lines can be long and move slow but keep in mind the size of Houston and the cost of this service. It is FREE.
Yes, I have seen an employee not be the friendliest but I have also seen people not follow directions and act carelessly. Keep in mind It was August. Over 100° outside and they are in the sun 8 to 10 hours a day.
This location provides a great service for the community.
You can properly dispose of yard waste, recyclables and even motor oil.
Take a bottle of water. A magazine to read and get on line. Be thankful that while you wait you are in an air conditioned vehicle. The employees do not have that luxury.
I dropped off flattened cardboard boxes around 6 pm on a Wednesday, and got right in, no line. I provided my zip code and was pointed to a large bin to throw in my cardboard. The reason for 4 stars is that the hours are confusing (see green sign in photo). I was told the gate closes at 6:30 but I think the sign says closing time is 7. But for half of the year, it looks like the hours are 9 to 6. Closed on Mondays.
If you find yourself in a line that isn’t moving, you have to get out and go ask what the hold up is. A whole line of people were politely waiting behind a couple trucks waiting for a new wood dumpster to be dropped off. Could be way more efficient with the same number of employees.
This is the 2nd time on 2 occasions they can not dump sago clipping and cardboard boxes cause their dumpsters are full so they turned me away. This is the reason why illegal dumping takes place
If this place was run properly I would give it 4-5 stars. Unfortunately I usually show up close to opening time on weekends and they haven’t opened on time and many of us are waiting in line for over 30 minutes for someone to show up and open the place, or I drive up only to be told that they are full and don’t know when they will be able to accept new stuff. Very frustrating after spending a lot of time and effort to load my car and drive over!
Way too small. 13 cars in line on the street to get in on a Sunday afternoon. No movement after waiting 10 minutes, so left. Another time I went the plastics bin was full so they were not taking any.
Definitely a discouragement to recycle when you drive 30 minutes out of your way to recycle and then have experienced like these.
Same thing happened the following Sunday I tried to go.
There is good signage on the bins, though, once/if you get into the site.
Don't waste your time with this place. Now I know why people opt for illegal dumping. I went 2 different times to attempt to discard bags of leafs. Waited both times for 45+ minutes. Only to be told the container won't arrive till morning. The workers sitting in the shack are too lazy to notify people waiting in line. They're too busy watching TV and smoking black and milds.
Quick and easy! I read a super helpful review that said you didn’t have to wait in line or have an ID to drop off household recyclables, you could just go in through the exit door. We did that. And then took our separated items (glass, aluminum cans, plastics, cardboard) to different containers. It went super well. In and out in less than 10 minutes.
