DONT DO IT!!! The guy railroaded my 20 year old son into bringing him his vehicle. Promising a cheaper price because “he always works on these cars”. Only to get there and tell him $600+ to take apart his car to find the problem. Then say $5k to rebuild a transmission. The car in question? A 2013 Ford Fusion. The car was only 3500. Mind you the place before said $4k. So now he can possibly do it cheaper. We were told it’s cheaper and better to rebuild vs new. So I say well what’s your price for a new transmission? Dealer charges $7k. Sir you’re not a dealership. Ma’am it’s a comparison. That’s not what I asked!? So he’s mad and hangs up the phone. Mind you, my sons car is still taken apart. Nothing fixed and now we’re over $700 in the hole and no closer to a working car.

DO NOT TAKE YOU VEHICLE TO THIS SHOP! Alex will talk a good game to get you to bring you vehicle there and tell you one thing and do something different. After having my vehicle for 2 days without hearing anything from them them I called them and they told me I would need to pay $689 to remove and inspect the transmission. At that time I asked them to give me a price worst case scenario to change the transmission and they couldn't give me a price. I should've stopped right there and went and got my vehicle but I tried to have faith since alex made it seem like he knew what he was talking about but do not trust him. I took my vehicle there under the pre tense of it would be around a $1500 repair is what he told me in our initial conversation. Well they called me and said it would be $5300!! I explained to them from the very beginning I only paid $1000 for the car so I did not want to put a whole lot of money into since the car is not worth that to me. They told me that if you get the repair the 689 goes towards it but on the quote they still tried to charge me the 689 along with 255 for towing when I had my vehicle towed there on my own. I argued that I had no problem paying the 689 but I was told that the 189 would fall off if I got repairs. As soon as you start confronting them they say you have to pay in cash only and by tomorrow or you will be charged a storage fee. He does this to prevent chargebacks. Read the reviews. While I was there picking up my vehicle another customer was there picking up their truck and they told me the initial cost was 5500 to fix their truck but when it was all said and done it was over 9000!! Im so glad I cut my losses when I did! On top of all that that gentleman's vehicle was slept in by a homeless person and the inside was DESTROYED while the vehicle was in the possession of this shop!! Save yourself the trouble and money, DO NOT GO THERE!!!

I’m a supplier of engines and transmissions, and this store completely scammed me. They bought an engine, paid with a personal check, then canceled the check afterward—denying the transaction ever happened. They stole my engine and refused to make it right. Absolutely no integrity, honesty, or professionalism. Avoid this business at all costs!

Affordable Transmission is anything but affordable. They intentionally overcharge and then try to justify it with excuses that make no sense. When you question the charges, they can’t give a straight answer or valid reason — just attitude and manipulation. It’s clear they take advantage of people who don’t know much about cars. Very shady and dishonest business practices. I would never recommend them to anyone.

WARNING: Avoid This Business - Retaliation, Extortion, and Defective Work
Summary: Defective transmission repair that failed in 2 weeks, refused warranty service, then towed my car and demanded $985 cash ransom while explicitly admitting the charge was retaliation for my negative review.

What Happened:
85-Day Nightmare: They kept my 2003 BMW 525i for 85 days (almost 3 months!) for transmission work. When I finally got it back, the repair failed within approximately 2 weeks.
Warranty Refusal: Despite their written "2 Month or 2000 Mile" warranty clearly printed on the invoice (RO #684), they absolutely refused to repair the vehicle. They would only offer a "free inspection" - not actual repairs under warranty.
Retaliation and Extortion: Instead of honoring their warranty, they:

Towed my vehicle back to their shop without authorization
Demanded $985 IN CASH to return it
EXPLICITLY STATED the charge was partly for "lost business from my Google review"
Refused to provide any clear breakdown of these charges
Would not repair the vehicle, only release it for cash payment

Suspicious Cash Demands:

They accepted credit card payments for the initial $4,944 in charges
Suddenly demanded the final $985 payment in CASH ONLY
Didn't even have change in the drawer - I had to give them $1,000 cash
This pattern suggests they're trying to avoid accountability and potentially evade taxes

Why This Matters to You:
They Retaliate Against Reviews: This business openly admitted to punishing me financially for exercising my right to post an honest review. If you have problems and speak up, expect retaliation.
Defective Work: Work that fails in 2 weeks after an 85-day repair is unacceptable, especially from a transmission specialist.
Won't Honor Warranties: Their written warranty is meaningless - they simply refuse to perform warranty work when their repairs fail.
Extortionate Practices: Towing your car and demanding cash ransom instead of honoring warranties is not legitimate business practice.
Cash-Only Red Flags: The sudden switch to cash-only payments, inability to make change, and invoice discrepancies raise serious questions about their business operations.
Current Status:
I have filed complaints with:

Texas Attorney General Consumer Protection Division
Credit card company (they sided with the mechanic unfortunately)

The business will claim lien rights on a vehicle and threaten collection activities despite providing defective, unwarrantied work.
My Advice:

Find another shop - Houston has many reputable transmission specialists
Document everything if you do use them
Never pay cash - use credit cards for consumer protection
Get warranties in writing (though they may not honor them anyway)
Know your rights - mechanics can't retaliate against honest reviews

What I've Learned:
The most disturbing part isn't even the defective work - it's the explicit admission that they charged me extra to punish me for my review. This is retaliation against protected consumer speech and potentially illegal extortion.
No business should:

Keep your car for 85 days only to deliver defective work
Refuse to honor written warranties
Tow your car and hold it for ransom
Demand cash to avoid accountability
Openly retaliate against customers who speak up

Update: I am cooperating with authorities investigating this business's practices. Other consumers who have experienced similar treatment should document their experiences and file complaints with the Texas Attorney General.

All vehicles towed to this shop as of August 1st till now are up for repo. Shop not paying tow bill and customer suffering. Shop doing 10-50$ job and charging customers 3500-5500$. Plus no free towing its all hidden in price n doubled. So if u had ur vehicle towed expect a phone call or a repo on vehicle. THIS IS NOT SLANDER OR THREATS. THIS IS THE TRUTH. U never worked on my vehicle I wouldn’t even allow it. Just pay people who work for or with u. U even ripped Ernest off.

Alex, the owner is very rude. He just hung up on my face. This is three times he’s hung up on my face. They try to be like your best friend to get you in and then once your vehicle is there he said that I authorized for it to get inspected no, I did not
He fired the guy who was helping me. His name is Ernesto very nice gentleman. When I spoke to him he said he no longer works there. He didn’t give me the reason why but with Mr. Alex attitude I believe I know why it’s only obvious how somebody treats a customer yells at them, hangs up the phone on their face And worked on my vehicle without my authorization. I did not sign a contract for this. I advise whoever comes to this transmission shop. Stop wherever you’re at and do not go. You will be lied to disrespected and threaten. I will take him to court and I’m gonna file on the better business bureau

Owner Alex is very accommodating until getting your vehicle.
After the price changed several times, and he was angry that I was questioning the price steady changing he told me I could come get my vehicle but the transmission would be in a box. It wouldn’t be returned the way it was received.
This Man Alex did this at an unbelievable time for me. Lost a family member & had to deal with being scammed out of 5k. Transmission issues not even a week after vehicle supposedly was repaired.
Also he doesn’t do all rebuilds. He sends them to a buddy shop of his out of town!
I would’ve thought hate for anyone to be scammed by him.

Editing again as it won’t let me write multiple reviews.. NOTICE only the TERRIBLE REVIEWS are the ones liked multiple times by other people. Owner Alex spends more time responding to bad reviews than he does trying to fix your car. I live nearby so I tell anyone I see outside to move on when I pass by, it’s the only way to get back for what they did. Went in for squeaking breaks, $1k later they still squeak (I have video evidence) he wanted another $125 to inspect it AGAIN. Total rip off.
For starters PLEASE GO READ YELP REVIEWS OF THIS PLACE!! My guess is the owner can’t hide the bad there as much, they are way more accurate.

For starters, the owner will call you neighbor, text you frequently, win you over with kindness. Then his true colors show.

I’ll try to be brief, but the details show what a horrible rip off this place is. I went in for SLIGHTLY squeaky brakes. Having just replaced the rear brakes at another shop, I figured this was the front brakes. Alex is very nice up front, explained my rotors were “completely crystallized, as if you have been driving next to the beach or snow” and I needed to replace all 4 as well as all the brakes even the new ones as the rotors had destroyed them too. He offered me a quote to replace it all. And also said I could bring my own parts if I wanted. Since brakes at Autozone were literally 1/5th the price, I did that. HERES WHERE THE RED FLAGS START. They resend their link to a quote, this is important because they can change it without you knowing and you don’t have the old one to go back to. My new quote, everything was more expensive. Even the “free inspection” he offered went from $225 to $345 as if he was giving me more of a deal. But the labor and fluid they added all went up in price. I made the mistake of letting them do the work. Took the old brakes back to the other shop for a return, they looked at my rotors and had NO IDEA what Alex was talking about, and what “crystallized” was referring to. I even went back to Affordable Transmission and had a tech look at the rotors without Alex there and he said nothing of crystallization either. Alex got very defensive saying “you had a problem and it’s fixed” EXCEPT MY BRAKES STILL SQUEAKED. And after sending him videos of the squeaking, he said he needs $125 inspection fee now.

TLDR: this place fixed things that weren’t necessary and overcharged at the same time.
This place is a scummy rip off. AVOID.

After my experience, I can vouch that they know what they are doing and most important they are very honest and transparent. I had to have my transmission rebuilt and they took care of my car in a very short amount of time.

Can’t believe i have to do this myself. Why did i pay $4K for my girl to get her vehicle fixed and get charged more for when these guys accidentally cut the wiring and try to blame it on “transmission was going to get shorted” no it was not. You just didn’t know what you are doing. Let me not start with how rude alex is. Screaming and slamming his desk??? When i simply ask how much longer after months of my vehicle being in the shop??????????????? Every save yourself a trip. And yes. He will say every customer that left a bad review is a liar. This shop shouldn’t be open. 2 months warranty???

I was tricked by the shop owner at the end of my experience. They did my car's transmission job which took 2 months. When the car was finally ready, the owner Alex offered me a small discount on the inconvenience they caused by providing the wrong information. But when I went to the shop to pickup the car, the person at the cashier told me that the discount was applicable only if I paid with cash...they never told me that I have to pay on cash before. I have paid the deposit and other payments by using credit card at the shop before and I was going to do the same since these unkind people didn't advise me such a important thing. I and my friend told the cashier that that was not right and not fair at all. After arguing, we figured that these people were not going to give any discount from the beginning, I gave upon the discount and tried to use my credit card. Then they refused me paying with a credit card. They said cash only no matter what. I don't know if that is regal to do that. I ended up paying with cash in full amount without any discount. According to the owner Alex, he decided not to give any discount because my friend was "threatening" him...at this point I was feeling sick of all this meaningless arguments since Alex's logic didn't make sense to me at all. I made a bad decision when I turned my car into this shop but the people who read my review, please don't make the same mistake I made!

If I could give zero stars, I would. This shop is an absolute disaster. I brought my vehicle in for a transmission repair and was told it would take a few weeks. That was over a year ago — and my car is still not fixed.

To make matters worse, I already paid $4,000 up front. That’s right — four grand, and I still don’t have a working vehicle. They’ve had my money and my car for over a year, and I have nothing to show for it.

The staff is incredibly rude and unprofessional. Every time I’ve called for an update (because they never call first), I’ve been met with attitude, vague excuses, and empty promises. I’ve been told “it’ll be ready next week” more times than I can count — and every single time, that week comes and goes with no progress and no explanation.

At this point, I don’t even know if they’ve touched the car. I feel scammed, disrespected, and completely ignored.

Do yourself a favor and stay far, far away from this place. They’ll take your money, your time, and your sanity — and still won’t fix your car.

We had our 1995 Cadillac picked up for repair and the guy Alex quoted us a price to rebuild transmission for 1500$ and we could even do financing with them. Needless to say that price changed and they replaced things that didn’t need it so that the price could go up 3 times the original quote. My advice to anyone do not let these people work on your car you may end up losing in the end!!! I will be reporting them to BBB. UPDATE!!!!WARNING!!!! The guy Alex is delusional we did receive our car back but we had to have it towed to our home after spending 3600$ for a supposedly rebuilt transmission. This guy Alex returned our vehicle with all kinds of scratches and dents that wasn’t there before andddd shoe prints on the roof of the car, who does this, it’s like he was pissed at us so he took it out on the car. This not a fabrication Mr Alex we trusted that you would do good work and we were the ones who was screwed in the end and for what. I pray that you don’t end up doing someone else this way and pray you don’t get a customer who will send you to your maker Sir. Owner is a scam artist that try to prey on hard working people. Owner charged thousands of dollars after switching my transmission out with an old damaged transmission with a leak. Owner is money hungry and thought I was not going to notice that he switched my transmission out with one of their old damaged leaking transmissions. I would not recommend anyone to do business with these con-artists. They have continued to try to get over after I paid for services to fix my vehicle and all they have done was cause more damage. DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!!!

My transmission went out and I goggled transmission places affordable transmission came up I called on a sat Mr Alex had it towed for free the following Sunday told me everything that was wrong with my 2012 tundra that following Tuesday. He work with me on a payment plan that I could afford. And once i Paid he fix my tundra in 3 days. Mr Alex is honest and really will work with you if your car are truck need a new are rebuild transmission.. and he also found a small oil leak in my motor and repaired it for free thank you again Mr alex…

I had been to two other mechanics who gave conflicting recommendations on "necessary" repairs. I went here for a 3rd opinion. Affordable Transmission agreed I had one necessary repair (I had been told I needed that repair and another three different repairs by one previous mechanic and another two by another). Having the work done here saved me several $100s!! I was super happy to save money and to know I have somewhere I can go for a trustworthy assessment and fair repair costs in the future!! They even offered to give me a ride to and from the shop and completed the work within a day! Highly recommend.

Affordable Transmission took amazing care of my 2012 Chevy Silverado (the love of my life)! They were honest and fair throughout the entire repair process, keeping me informed every step of the way. My truck was picked up, diagnosed, and fully repaired within a week—and it was a major repair. Now, it runs like new! Highly recommend them for anyone needing trustworthy, top-notch service!

They had a car in less than three days completely diagnostic tested it found a problem in the torque converter and did a complete overhaul. I am very thankful very easy to work with a great group of people. The owners are good people front staff good people and they got some excellent technician in the back.

They came and picked up my Chevy Silverado z71 4x4 it's gone on 3 months and they told me to come get my truck it's still not working now the engine leaks oil i had 3 transmission with my truck and they asked me if I needed the 4x4 to work lmfao (of course I do!) They cut my transmission plug off the wiring harness that only had one speed sencor spliced into it at first ,now the harness is no good and they couldn't find a new 1 needless to say I paid them $4565.00 to tell me to come get it in worse condition then it was when they picked it up! My truck is still sitting at there place cuz it don't drive at all now and I have to pay to get it towed from there and they are keeping my money and they didn't even rebuild it replace my transmission. Not recommended worst one Iv found yet.! Oow and they want me to pay more now because of this post!

WARNING!!!!! So 2 transmission, 4 motors, and over 10 returns to get my truck fixed, plus leaving it at the shop for months. Here I am with a broken motor still. Misfires and all. They'll use old used parts to try and fix your vehicle. This is not the place to go unless you want to waste your time and money. Got it yesterday, 4-29-24, and had another mechanic check it 4-30-24. Truck smoking, new leaks, and still misfires.

I was lowered in on the false pretenses that he would fix my transmission for $1500 and once I brought the car in the total change to 3205 I told him what happened to the 1500 he quoted me ended up paying $2800 to get my car back after he put a rebuilt transmission in there. It went out 30 miles they towed it back to the shop he took the transmission out put a junkyard transmission in it and still charge me to $2800 and there was also damage to my car. He stated that it was a civil matter and to take it up in civil court, not do business with this man he is crooked as all get out.

I just left this place and I’m so impressed. I had to get towed in thinking I was needing a new transmission. Fortunately this handsome guy named Alec helped me. It turns out I only needed to replace a small electrical gadget. He gave me his small part and now my car is driving like new! Turns out, he’s the owner and I’m smitten. Never know? Oh well back to work.that’s my money maker!

Great location and great mechanics, rebuilt my transmission and now my truck is running great. Even has free tow. Just make sure you know what you paying for. He will specify everything in detail. Even has payment plans. Just tell him give you price 1st before anything. Normally cost about 1500-2500$ just depends what you need. Has warranty too. Also does mechanic work. Took about 2 weeks. Mechanics also fixed my driveshaft. Where problem originally started. Now I’m confident to drive it anywhere. Alex was a great help. Send him customers and they liked the spot too.
