Manayunk timber is an amazing place. The staff are incredibly creative and helpful. They make top tier furniture and other wood items. Their work is well priced and high quality. The other businesses on sight are also incredible. The cat and dog running around the yard are also super cute.
Rebecca and Isaac know their wood. And… they have a lot of it! They rip it down, paint the ends so it doesn’t end-check (that’s where you keep facing off a perfectly good quarter-sawn 12’ clear piece of heirloom walnut until it’s now 11’ clear (if you’re lucky) because hairline cracks along the grain keep crumbling off), and sticker it to air dry in the traditional manner. The days of building with properly handled hardwood aren’t gone, they are alive and well at Manayunk Timber. My grandfather was a lumberman and he told me there are only five building materials: Stone, metal, wood, concrete, and glass. You’ve got one of five covered here.
We love the gorgeous walnut countertop that Manayunk Timber made for our baby nursery. Highly recommend their custom made pieces. Awesome team to work with. Easy and fast service!

My fiance and I love coming here! They specialize in local, sustainable wood. Our coat rack, side table, and coffee table all feature wood from them. We have purchased raw wood as well as planed and joined wood that we finished ourselves. They are very knowledgeable and helpful, we can not wait to have them build us a new dining room table in the near future!
Manayunk Timber is not only a great source for high quality and affordable wood, but their passion for their craft is infectious. They’ve helped my husband and myself turn into amateur furniture makers, supplying not only the materials but the advice and good wishes. We look forward to visiting their yard and seeing what they’re working on themselves. Don’t want to see this gem of a place and team change.

Simply a wonderful experience. Rebecca and staff are super knowledgeable, friendly, and easy to work with. Selection of wood is top-notch with so many unique options. They cut and stained shelves for me that turned out beautiful, will be back soon for other projects.
This is best spot in Philly to buy wood. Impressive selection of new and reclaimed board, and the owners are fantastic people (and great shop dog!). Highly recommend this place.
Just called the place and spoke to a younger woman. Asked about some species of wood and whether they had any. The answer I got was rude and disrespectful. I asked if they could special order it and they said “nope “ and hung up. I’ll never recommend this place to anyone nor will I ever give them any of my business!!!
We got about $500 worth of wood to build a bed frame. Great experience, but wish that the staff had taken a closer look before picking out wood for us, because it seems like one piece had water damage, or something happened…pics show 2 pieces of wood after being stained with the same danish oil. Really bummed about it, but we put so much work into the frame we don’t really have time to re-do / afford to buy new wood. My husband also built this as part of a portfolio submission, it’s really disappointing to have some pieces look so ugly/different from the rest.
After a disappointing call to another lumber yard, I decided to contact Manayunk Timber and inquire whether they had the lumber I needed to repair an old garage door. I spoke to Rebecca and told her the garage door is 1-3/4” thick. She was extremely friendly and suggested I go to their place to check out what they had. When I arrived, she pointed to the 2” yellow pine she had. She gladly planed it down to size. Reasonable prices. Excellent, friendly, knowledgeable service. I am so happy I finally found this place.
As a beginner DIY-er, I was intimidated by the idea of going to a lumber yard. However, Jared at Manayunk Timber made the process easy and he was so welcoming! He explained basic lumber yard jargon to me and even wrote down advice for my project. I will be coming back for future projects and I definitely recommend everyone who is unsure to stop by.

I don’t usually review businesses, but I had such a wonderful experience with Manayunk Timber I wanted to share my thoughts. This is a beautiful family owned business that has been around for over 30 years. It is run by a father and daughter team. They helped me build a beautiful, custom, dining room and coffee table. They really made the time to work with me and help see my vision through. These small businesses are so far and few between that there is something so special about picking out the wood and seeing it made into a piece that will last generations. Thank you Manayunk Timber, I look forward to working with you all again!
I have been working with Manayunk Timber over the past year while I renovated my house. Steve and Rebecca have been so helpful and pleasant to collaborate with. They initially helped me pick out the right wood for my projects, and then over the course of the year have made over 10 pieces for me. The work is outstanding; there is such a high degree of craftsmanship and expertise here, and their prices are very fair.
I find myself continuously finding reasons to place another order with them.
Best wood guy in the area. Really knows his stuff, prices are about the best you'll find and he is hilarious. Rebecca is super nice and does a great job. You'd be crazy to go anywhere else.
One of the really great small businesses in Manayunk/Roxborough. Steve and his staff are highly knowledgeable and extremely helpful. If I had more free time I would definitely spend more of it here. No matter what size project you are working on definitely start here. The guidance and advice are top notch. Their prices are also very affordable. Definitely my go to spot for all things wood.
Man I love this place! Excellent service and crazy exotic wood for sale. The scrap is a little on the pricey side, but hey I thought it was worthwhile! I'll be a frequent visitor for sure!
I arrived at Manayunk Timber and was immediately helped by the owner's daughter. I was looking for live edged wood, and they found me exactly what I was looking for at a very good price. The owner, Steve s a great guy and his daughter happily helped me take the cherry live edge out to my truck. I highly recommend them and will be back.
