Twice my partner and I have gone to this spot for simple service as a last resort and twice now we’ve had miserable experiences. Not only have they been gruff and had otherwise poor customer service, but they have significantly uncharged for service (oil change) and repeatedly pressured an upsell for other issues. This is the kind of garage that gives mechanics a bad rap. Will not be going back. Two stars only because they completed the original service.

Condescending staff. They will overcharge you. Was quoted close to $4,000 after going for routine car inspection. I'm sure when they saw I was a woman they saw $$$. When I said I would rather lose money, pay the fee for the inspection and take my car somewhere else - they were shocked. Guess their business model is sunk cost fallacy. I would rather waste $70 than be scammed. Non-stop emails after you register on their website. Go to Central Auto Service on 39th & Lancaster to support a REAL local business not these scammers.

I'm new to Philly and needed a place to get my PA car inspection done. Wayne and his staff of techs took great care of me. The cherry on top, after buying a tire from the shop to pass my inspection (NOT an unexpected need/NOT a grift), about a week later I managed to get a screw in the tread. Took the tire back to Wayne's and they took care of the repair no charge! Now THAT's how to run a garage to keep customers coming back and recommending your shop to anyone that asks!

5 star review: very nice , straightforward guys who worked quickly on my car. it sounded awful but now drives and sounds much healthier 3 star review & edit 1 year later: the car they worked on ended up dying a couple months later from major engine failure. The work they suggested i get was really pricey (i think near 1.2k;) why were they not able to give me any sort of warning that the car was headed for a meltdown? When I brought it in to a more trusted mechanic in my hometown he was surprised they hadn’t noticed the issue or chose not to tell me. Also my man went there for an oil change and it seemed steep as well. Quick service on that though. I haven’t gone back to this garage. Guys there were still very pleasant and they keep their shop front looking neat which helps the neighborhood.

Would highly recommend Waynes Garage! We have used his services several times over the past 5 years and he is extremely responsive and has always done a good job on our vehicles! In addition, he's a really nice guy to work with :)

I’m obsessed with Wayne’s Garage and tell everyone in West Philly to go here! I go here every year for inspection and throughout the year for maintenance and they have never steered me wrong. They care about me, my car, and they really care about the quality of their work. On top of it all, the people I’ve interacted with are hilarious and very kind :)

Took my car here to get inspected. I had bought it the day before. It is an older car in great condition with 35,000 miles on it. Wayne's told me I would need close to $2,000 in repairs to pass inspection. Took it somewhere else and paid a couple hundred dollars to fix simple repairs (gas cap replacement, new windshield wipers). The worst part was how mean and condescending the bald guy was to me. Before even looking at the car, the guy started laying into me, telling me I had bought a lemon, that the car wasn't worth $1000, that I had been scammed, etc, just based on seeing that my car was older. I've now driven the car for thousands of miles without issue. It's the best car I've ever owned.

AVOID THIS PLACE UNLESS YOU WANT TO GET UPCHARGED AND LIED TO ABOUT AN ISSUE!!!! I hate giving bad reviews, but I feel it's important to warn others. I was thankful they got me in and appreciated it. I was also happy about the time it took. However, that does not give them a pass on the outrageous amount they charged me for wiper blades when I didn't need them, and I am 100% sure of that!! My wiper blades were totally fine when I pulled in there. They call and tell me all the blades need to be replaced. The chance of all 3 blades being bad and me not knowing it is not possible. It's also highly unlikely that all 3 blades just happen to fail at the same time. They were looking for a way to make extra money, and they found it. If I didn't have them change them, they said i failed inspection, then I would have to get re-inspected. They try to blame it all on PA laws to get by with this. I don't have an issue with PA laws, I have an issue with the mechanic lying about it. They charged $100 for 3 wiper blades and to install them. That is insane!!!! Then, say well Subaru charges $36 a blade. Well, most people aren't crazy enough to have the dealer change them. They will respond to this and say, " Well, it's PA law they have to be working." I don't have an issue with having to have working wiper blades, I have an issue of them lying about all 3 of them failing when they were perfectly fine when I went there. Did they take a cloth to the blade to see if maybe something was stuck under them? No, they didn't. Supposedly, they left a streak, and they failed them immediately. All 3 of them. They were looking for things to make money on. Nobody charges $100 for 3 wiper blades and install, except maybe a dealership. How i know they lied about all 3 being bad was the owner said. " Well, we usually don't just replace one blade." They didn't give me the option to have the supposed bad blade changed, nope, changed all 3 to suck out as much money as they could. There was not a bad blade, let alone 3 of them, and I know that. So my suggestion is to find a shop with integrity!!! They will respond with some bogus excuse, and it will just be that an excuse. No way all 3 blades failed. If it's their policy to change all 3 regardless, then they need to stipulate that. Again, my wiper blades were perfectly fine.

The absolute WORST mechanic shop. The people who work there are not friendly, they’re overpriced, and their hours don’t make sense for people who work m-f. I brought my car in for just getting my turn signal and brake light fixed (quoted two lights at $75, ended up spending $95 for three light bulbs)- they turned my driving lights on and killed the battery and then after too much bad communication, they jumped my car and parked on the street. Turns out they parked it in a temporary no parking zone and I almost got a ticket. Literally the worst mechanic experience I have ever had. AVOID this place.

The people I spoke to were very friendly and had overall great customer service; able to squeeze me in quickly. However, I wouldn’t recommend this shop if you have a Subaru. I had an oil change done and brought it back a couple days later for a continuous noise. They said the mechanic had put too much oil in, and they rectified the situation by not charging me for the time it took to check it out, which I appreciated. I had them do my differentials the same day, and they said I only had 1 differential so I paid for 1. The noise persisted, and the botched oil change left a sour taste in my mouth, so I ended up going to the dealer for a look. They said I needed new hub assemblies and bushings in all my wheels, with a video of my car as evidence. I was astounded as I could clearly see from the video what my car needed, and apparently the mechanic at Wayne’s saw there was too much oil and left it at that without checking the wheels. On top of that, I told the dealer that I just had my 1 differential done, and he was surprised I said that because there are actually two, the front one is built into the transmission. They are a fair shop in price and front counter service, but I think the mechanics need more training in Subarus. Thanks for providing as best of service that you could, but I’ll need to go to the dealer from now on.

Excellent customer service, personable care, quick turn around time, trustworthy people. Thank you Wayne and team for helping me out when I really needed it - I appreciate your patience and thank you for answering all of my questions. Will be back next time I have any issues with my car

Wayne's has been my go-to garage for years of oil changes, inspections and the occasional fix. The work is efficient, communication is good, and my overall experience has been very positive. Mike & co. demonstrate that they know and value their customers.

Wayne provided excellent service as always. My repairs with his shop are not as inexpensive as some of the national chains or other local shops, but I have never had an issue with the quality and reliability of their work. Recently he had a part come in and tested it before installing the part, even though it delayed the completion of the job, other shops would have installed the part, and then I'd had to come back and try to get another shop to fix an issue caused by a defective part. I highly recommend Wayne's shop.

This my second time at Wayne’s and it was an amazing experience. Wayne and Mike is so friendly and make me feel comfortable while I wait. The job is done and done correctly. I recommend this guys for your auto needs

I have had really good experiences here over the past few years. Mike and Wayne are straightforward and take great pride in the business. It can be expensive for things beyond oil changes and inspection, but you get what you pay for and it’s obvious they keep great mechanics on staff - they have never tried to upcharge me or exaggerate a problem, they always do quality work, and they were willing to work with me to figure out payment when some labor-intensive parts had to be replaced in my older car. I trust them!

I had a great experience with Wayne's Garage. Also, this is the first time I have ever brought my car to a shop and they didn't call me mid-way through the maintenance to tell me about a bunch of unexpected fixes I would need to make which would be costly. That makes me trust Wayne's a lot more, knowing they're not just upcharging you on something every time you bring it in. Will definitely be going to Wayne's garage for our regular maintenance. Arrogant, condescending, and rude. I called to ask about an inspection and oil change. The person on the phone started off with an attitude when I asked a very, very basic and simple question. After saying that they worked off of appointments, and after I asked when I could make an appointment, I was told that making one was not possible. The general attitude was that they were doing me a favor and thought I was stupid. I did not and definitely would not take my car here if the treatment I received on the phone was any indication at all. There are far, far, far better places in West Philly. Take your business to a place where they at least have enough courtesy to speak to you like a person on the phone.

Love Wayne’s Garage! Their service is the best. They’ve been working on my Subaru forester 2002 for the past few years. They’re always attentive, flexible when they find unexpected problems, and fast to fix everything up. They’re also great about communicating which problems are serious safety hazards and which are more superficial -- important to be aware of in an old car. I know my car is in great hands here.

My first time going here b/c they're so close to where I live and they had pretty good google reviews so I took a chance. I had a good experience with them and would recommend them to others. I had to get all 4 of my break pads & rotors replaced + the front strut assembly's, the front sway bar links and a wheel alignment, so the cost definitely wasn't cheap. However, they know what they're doing, were very professional and quick. Good customer service too. I would certainly go back there again.

Great and fast service. This garage is thorough and extremely professional. Wayne, the owner, has excellent customer service. I came for an inspection and had a couple questions about future fixes for my car. He gave a lot of insight and education regarding my options. I drove from Fairmount to West Philly specifically for his expertise.

Had a great first time experience with this garage. My Trailblazer started shaking while I was driving so I had to pull over and get it towed. I was delighted to find that AAA recommended a garage so close to me, and that Wayne, who I dealt with was so calm and easy to work with. Heard back within a couple hours with a detailed estimate in my email. Car was in and out in less than 24 hours and runs great. Will definitely be returning.

I had a flat tire that needed repair and took it to Wayne. They were very busy and couldn't promise that they could fix it that day, which was not a problem for me. Two hours later I got a call that my tire was fixed and the car was ready to pick up. They were able to squeeze me in between jobs, for which I was very grateful. The price was rock bottom low. I was very pleased and am very happy with the service.

We go to Wayne's for everything -- they are definitely our friendly neighborhood mechanic. They always fit us in quickly and explain things well. They have a cute trained squirrel (!) and very sweetly gave my son a couple of matchbox cars after our recent service. The service is always good and my car is driving like new after suspension repair. Highly recommend.

I went to Wayne's after seeing the high reviews and was not disappointed! I was able to schedule a next-day oil change. When I got there, both gentlemen I spoke to were very friendly. They estimated a wait time of a few hours because of the other jobs they had to finish, but they were done in an hour! They add on a full fluid change but I was happy to pay for that since I needed it. Kindness, quality, and efficiency mean the most to me when it comes to car work. I'm willing to pay more if I know that that's what I can expect. I will be coming back!

Moved to Philly not long ago and was looking for a mechanic. Drove by Wayne's on my way home and it reminded me of the mechanic I used to go to back in Canada. Solid nice dudes in there. I needed my rear brakes cleaned up and checked for damage and snow tires put on. My tires were on and brakes were checked and repaired within a couple hours of dropping off the car. Highly recommend em!

Wayne's Garage is an excellent place in West Philly to take your car. All the employees are incredibly helpful and friendly, and they do efficient and well-priced work. My last visit my paperwork wasn't up to date and Mike at the garage directed me up the street to get a quick registration print-out and was very patient in helping out. Really great people working and super service, I will take my car there as long as I'm local!

The check engine light was on and I needed an oil change. I also planned to get a safety inspection. I chose Wayne's Garage because of the Google reviews, and I had a great experience. I was able to make an appointment promptly, I was given an estimate of repairs in the morning, and the car was ready by the end of the day. The car needed some big repairs in order to be ready to pass inspection, but the car is old so I was not surprised by any of the repairs. The prices were fair and the service was great. I was given clear explanations and everyone was friendly. I will definitely be returning for regular maintenance and any other repairs.
