SIL lost her passport 1 day before the trip. Came first thing this morning and EVERYONE was so helpful. Our flight leaves at 1 and they got the passport done before the “2-3 hour minimum”. We are so grateful for the assistance and for the crew being so kind despite their stressful jobs!

I wasn’t sure what to expect, but the staff were surprisingly friendly, from the security greeter up front to the agents handling the paperwork. There was a line, but that’s understandable given a last-minute passport renewal.

I had a great experience here today. A week before international travel I found out that my passport needs to be valid for at least 3 months beyond return from travel. Mine is set to expire less the 1.5 months after we return! I freaked out but after research found out about the appointments you can schedule if travel is within 14 days. I immediately went online and there were just a few appointment slots open. I came from the Madison area so about 2.5 hours and had an 8am appt. It was very organized and everyone was very helpful. I think from going through security to finishing was maybe 35ish minutes. Then because I live over 100 miles away I was able to get a receipt and come back later the same day. I went back at 1:45 and it was scheduled to be ready for 3. They told me to arrive at 2 just in case. It was ready by 2:15 and then I was out of there! Super relieved to have a valid passport now. Again everyone was pleasant and made it easy!

I had an urgent travel and needed to renew my passport. I still had about 4 months until it expired but for travel purposes, it had to be with 6 months or more of validity. I booked an appointment online and was able to get a spot for 9am. I went in at 8:45 am and the line was already long. I suggest to come early, it’ll really help. Also, they have great staff who’ll help you when you have questions. I had a little mistake in my application and the agent was very nice helping me with it. I got out by 10:05am and they either let you pick it up or get it by mail (3-5 days). I opted for the pick up. I was so glad the process was fast for me. The staff were great too.

I had an amazing experience with this agency! My partner realized today that his US passport was expired (our flight is scheduled for 4:25pm today), so I called the agency as there were no appointments online. A representative relayed our info to someone at the agency, and we were able to score a last minute appointment at 11am with the passport ready by 12:30pm! Currently writing this at the airport with 3 hours to spare. We wouldn’t have been able to board our international flight without all the help from the people at this agency.

I thought there was no chance I’d get a passport before my travel date tomorrow. I was promised it would be here yesterday after driving 6hrs round trip last week but status as of 5pm showed “in process” - not accepted or shipped. 5:30 it was shipped and will be here before 4pm today. Don’t give up hope!!

Staff are friendly, organized and processes are efficient I was in and out in an hour because I had all my documents and had my passport the next day! Better than the DMV!

I’ve never had a better experience with a government agency. From the super friendly (and impressively thorough) security guard who sets the tone right away, to the helpful text reminders, to the incredible women at the front desk who walked me through every step and totally eased my anxiety—everything was stellar. For context: I arrived on Friday at 8:00 AM and walked out with a brand-new passport at 12:40 PM. Same day. So don’t listen to anyone saying it’s impossible—they absolutely delivered.

Realized on Monday that my passport was expired, when I was to depart on Thursday morning. Secured an 8am appt on Wednesday morning. I showed up at 730 and waited outside til 745 when the doors opened. I was through security and to the window by 8am. I left the building no later than 8:10. I had all my paperwork ready and was told to come back at 2pm to get the passport. I came by 2:15 and it was ready. No waiting when I returned either! This office was extremely efficient and friendly. All the comments are spot on! From the security folks to the folks working the window, they were all amazing. Don’t stress as long as you have all the required paperwork and an appt.

I had an excellent experience at the Chicago passport office! The staff were incredibly friendly, professional, and helpful throughout the whole process. They made everything quick and easy — I was in and out much faster than expected. It’s great to see such efficient and courteous service. I absolutely had to write this review because of how indebted and grateful I am to the employees of this agency. Every single person I interacted with was so kind and patient, from the security guards at the entry, through the line, at the upstairs door, and at the counters. Not only that, but they are doing it currently without pay as we are mid government shutdown. I was treated respectfully at every step and received my urgent travel passport in one day. A special shoutout to Alyssa this morning, but also every other person whose name I didn't catch. I'm so, so grateful to everyone working there. If any employee reads this, please know your kindness and efficiency means the world to me, and thank every single person in the office and security line and building on my behalf. <3

Wow! A federal agency with such amazing service? I need passport quickly due to an urgency of my travel. One phone call later I had an appointment scheduled, arrived with all the documents and received the passport the same week! Impressive customer service, friendly people and organized process.

Omg the level of dysfunction and unprofessionalism. Appointment was for 10, didn't get seen until 12pm. The agent said come back anytime between 2-4 and it will be ready. Been sitting here for over 2 hrs and still not ready. When I arrived the age t said theyre "halfway done". They locked my wife and three small kids (6, 4, and 1) outside the building because they only wanted one adult to pickup but the passport is for one of the kids smh. Theres one poor lady in window 16 who has been giving her whole life account from the 60s (flights, parents birthdays, marriages, divorced down to the date) and the agent still won't give her her passport and she's saying that she's leaving in 2 hrs on a flight. I think she's verified enough. It isn't her fault she was born on a military base overseas and you can't process her paperwork. Just beyond incompetence. The agents just chilling, not a care in the world. 60+ people waiting and they've only seen 12 people... since 2pm! About 1 person every 13 minutes. At this rate the last person will leave in just under 14 hrs. They trying to ride that overtime and get hours since the government is shut down. If you state a timeframe, abide by it or give a refund for the expedite fees under 22 CFR § 51.53(b), Priebe & Sons, Inc. v. United States (1947), United States v. Utah Construction & Mining Co. (1966). Wish I can take photos but they get really touchy when you point a camera

I really wanna make sure I leave this review, one of the first federal buildings that I walk into and everyone from security to personnel, no matter what authority, allowed me to feel very comfortable and was able to get my expedited passport with ease, a few days to be exact. Just one grumpy security at the very beginning, but because of everybody else’s effort, I forgot he was even there. Thank Chicago Passport Agency Personnel, keep up the good work and I hope you all see this review, God Bless America, you and your loved ones.

Just a note that if you need a new passport and your travel date is more than ~3 days out, the staff will insist on having your new passport mailed to you via UPS 3-day shipping. This shipping cost is not included in your fees and you'll have to pay ~$22 out of pocket. This was kind of annoying since this policy wasn't made clear ahead of time, and the cashier lady said "it's just $22" like it's a trivial amount and that I should've expected this going in. I'm pretty sure that others waiting in line who needed their passports tomorrow were able to simply come back in person to collect their new passport without paying additional fees.

Very busy, but well organized and well run. I was in at 10:30am and out with a new passport by 3:30pm (free time between 11:30-2:30). The passport agents were very professional, clear, patient, and friendly.

Highly recommend getting an early appointment if possible, and make sure to have all your documents together. Security got us in quickly, and the passport staff were incredibly helpful. I waited longer in line outside than I did waiting to get my passport renewed. Picked up same day, thank you Avery!

I realized my passport was expired two hours before my flight. I had to reschedule my flight for a later time and get into the agency for a new passport. Everyone was really helpful, They made it happen. I couldn’t be more blessed for their hard work and the security who saw me pregnant and allowed me to sit multiple times in line because my back was killing me. As hectic as my day went they were all so kind & made it just a little better. & my passport was ready 2hrs later.

Alphonso at Chicago Passport Agency went about and beyond helping me getting me and my kids the U.S. passports. Fixing my paper work and making sure I was able to get in to my parents country Guatemala. I had first requested the Passport ID and he notice that Guatemala country only accepts the booklet passport and took all the lead and work himself to make sure he gave me what I needed for me to be able to get into the country with my kids. I visited the agency today to obtain a passport. I cannot express enough how kind and helpful Ms. Lauren was. The world needs more helpful and kind people like her! She was patient and polite. As I am currently undergoing cancer treatment and my response time isn’t as quick as normal, I will always be grateful for how helpful Lauren was. Thank you.

Cody was absolutely kind helpful and patient. The whole process she made seamless. I did not have some of the form filled out and she smiled and pushed my form back to me. Never rushing. Update, New Review: Yes, that was a stressful process. But, my other passport did arrive and let me say that guy having me get another photo— was worth it. He was right. I can admit when I’m wrong and I was wrong. That young man was only trying to help me. Wish I’d realized that in the moment. Old Review: There’s no way a photo will work for a passport on its way to me, but not for the one I’m getting the same day because it will not make it in time. Far too bright for one should be too bright for each. I drove 5 hours to get my passport in person bec the one that was expedited to me would arrive the same at that I needed to leave. I did get two photos originally, luckily, I thought. Only it worked for the passport in its way to me, but it wasn’t going to work for the one I wanted to get the same day— through they were the exact same photo. Printed together, same day, same photo, same time. Had to walk blocks in heavy rain to go to a place to take another photo. Then when you get back you have to get back in forever. I didn’t understand why they needed so much security in there until that moment. Y’all play too much!

I had to renew my passport for my vacation trip in a week and this passport agency was a lifesaver for me!! The security and staffs were all friendly, professional, and efficient. I had my urgent appointment at 8:00 am, arrived at 7:40 am. There was already a line in front of the entrance door but a security guy managed the line professionally and nicely with even some jokes. The security check was smooth and the navigation was also smooth, too and I got another joke from another security. lol The staff who took care of my passport renewal was very nice to me with a charming smile. I could not get the passport on the same day but I was told to come to the office again on next business day morning to pick it up. I left the office at 8:27 am!!! Just print out everything 2 copies each just in case. They are very efficient if you prepare everything appropriately. I don’t want to find my passport expired just 2 weeks before the departure date ever again, but I really appreciate the customer service experience from Chicago Passport Agency.

Needing my passport in 2 weeks time frame, I'm so stressed out and worried that my passport won't process on time and ruin my approved vacation from my boss... But lo and behold! This passport office aside from being spotlessly clean. Workers are very courteous and efficient. Melissa on booth # 1 and the very helpful gentleman on booth 11 zeroed in right away on my passport needs. They are just above and beyond my expections including the very respectful security officers . Turn around time for expedited passport is phenomenally lightning fast in 5 hours. Very grateful on the timely processing of my passport ! What a blessing! I'm so impressed! Very professional and efficient!
