These guys are great. Dropped off some mixed brass. $2/lb. Also clean copper for $4.25/lb. Clean place. They help to unload my van which no one else does. They handle smaller loads, no tractor trailer loads. Glad I don't have to drive far to some of those recycling yards that are gravel and mud and full of tramp metal, I always get a nail in my tires.

Quoted ten cents a pound only paid five. Not a big difference, but not honest either. Brought in 67 pounds of metal. Copper pipe was priced at same rate should have been more.

Definitely not go back. I did the math home with the paper and I got over 80 less. They quoted intentionally big copper wires $1,50.

I texted Ethan a worker from this place asking for 12 gauge red solid new rolls or stranded wire
He stated we do have both so I made the trip to buy it, to my surprise when I get there they did not have any of the size and color.
So thanks to this guy and their bad customer service they made me loose my time and money also waste gas..
These guys are great they go above and beyond and very friendly. Help with no questions asked and always greet you with a smile. Highly recommend these guys.
I took in my scrap aluminum today, and the staff was super helpful, I was paid a very fair price, and this is the cleanest place I have ever taken my scrap to! I have been using a different place for years. My business will be done at American Metals from now on!
American Metals is my go to place in the Chicago land area. They have the best prices and always super clean. Every employee is fast working and super friendly. Also,one of the few places that pays cash which is a plus for me!
Definitely not the best prices per lbs. Doesn't even give half of what other places offer per lbs. Get the most out of your time and effort and go elsewhere.

Dont listen to bad reviews, I've been scraping wire for the past 10 years in various places in and around the city. These guys are the nicest, most professional and most helpful I've ever seen.
Today I brought in 4 bags of wires with 3 different wire types. Normally a scrap yard would bundle it all together and give you the lowest price on all of them. The gentleman who helped me actually separated all 3 wire types and paid me for each one. Who has that kind of honesty these days?
Plus they are close to the northwest side which is kind of devoid of good scrap yards and parking is decent. Very nice and helpful guys. Some places might seem large and intimidating and be full of rude employees but this place is definitely a hidden gem.
Highly reccomend to follow tradesguys who have a bunch of wire to scrap!
They gave me $50 for 301 lbs of aluminum!!! Absolute RIPOFF. I told my boss and he called a few places and they all said 35-39 cents per pound. THEY DIDNT GIVE ME HALF THAT. The 4 of them were VERY eager to help me get it off my truck. They didnt even look me in the eye while handing me the money.
