Came in there trying to make it about myself, like everyone else does I guess. But really tho you've got to approach it as an invited guest. Should have went early, should have brought cash, should have expected the hosts were busy with other guests. It aint YOUR party!
Quick tips:
Bring cash. All of it. Plus more. No ATM on site!
Walk in, nod to everyone thats standing around and humbly ask, "Where is the end of the line at?"
As everyone starts to talk, mumble and gesture wildly, make your way to the end of the line.
If you cant hear what the people behind the glass are saying, be nice and act like you cant hear well as you gesture at your phone and paperwork.
You have to confirm every next step, dont just walk away and think that the Valet will be bringing your ride up.

After being involved in a serious accident, the whole process is overwhelming. I went to pound #1 and was met with rudeness and frustration. However in pound #2 Daniela was like an angel. Truly in moments like these, js nice when someone takes the time to understand, explain and walkthrough things.
She helped me get my belongings with ease. 100% recommend her.
The way they drag cars around in there cannot be good for the vehicles. They also make it damn near impossible to pick up the cars that got towed so that they can charge you for an extra day.
January 23, 2025my brother car was impounded by these people, on the left hand side shows no damages to the car, the following day January 24, 2025 not even a full 24 hours. My father and I witness the fork lift driver drop the vehicle on the ground causing damages, we filed a claim January 28, 2025. It took this company until April 4, 2025 to respond back with a letter, with our claim being denied. I have numerous times drove up to here to receive answers, I have always been giving a number that automatically sends me to voicemail. I have emailed several times from different emails from my family and no response.
Was in and out in about an hour. As long as you’re not incompetent and have everything you need there shouldn’t be any problems. Lots of people complaining and not a pleasant place to be but I got my car back and that’s all I care about
This place got its own rhythm. The ladies working there do what they do and nothing can’t speed them up or have them of balance. It goes like that 2 customers and a little break then 2 customers and a little break and so on and on….
The towing companies working with them are hungry money like no other. I got outside at 8.05 am and there was no sign of my vehicle or any towing nowhere near. They noticed the car park on the street way ahead of the time and they took it before 8am, which is ahead of the time when the meter starts clicking.
Extremely difficult to find, run down, poor customer service and an exveptionally bad reflection on the city of Chicago. Having a photo would be like a horror show. Terrible place that steals money out of the pocketx of citizens and visitors. Very deceptive and illegal towing practices. Signs on the street are very misleadinv as in this one on both sides of the street near 89th an Cottage Grove. Very shady practices
This is place is a joke literally everyone is rude regardless if you have all your documents or not. You can't even kiss ass to get better service. On top of your car being handled by tractor that caused over $1000 worth of work. I don't know how these ppl can run this place like this with no consequences. Chicago is a joke.
Although I wasn't happy about having my car towed lol but I was in and out pretty fast the 2 ladies that helped me were great the cashier I didn't get her name but we both laughed and joked at the window kinda short staffed but moved quickly that day so I give them 5 stars
I was lucky to talk to some nice people up there I know some experienced the opposite I guess it depends on the day. But I gave it a three because someone stole out of my car. My iPhone charger, headphones, vapes, money and ssc is gone. And I will file a complaint and press charges.
Every person I had to deal with was extremely rude. No one was helpful. I called up there and Noone told me what I needed over the phone. So after going up there I had to go home to get my information then come back. After showing the proof they needed they told me to wait for a cashier to call my name. After an hour of waiting I asked the cashier how long till I get called she said idk what did they tell you at the other window I said to wait for a cashier to be called she with attitude said we'll that's what you do then.
Never surprised but always disappointed in the hostility of the employees. All I did was call the number and the woman on the line immediately had an attitude. I politely asked the woman if she could speak up, and I acknowledged that I understand her job can be frustrating and to just please be patient with me. My car was stolen and taken to the impound. Im not sure if the employees are under the impression that everyone who comes in or calls in is at fault for their car being in the impound, but that’s still no reason to disrespect people that are already in a tough spot. The employees, as always, are miserable and I cannot fathom why their superiors don’t do more to make them feel more supported so that they can treat people better. Definitely a systematic issue considering you will experience this at any impound in Illinois.
I didn't wait too long (about a hour). Employees are a bit aggressive but I'm sure it's due to their job and individuals not being the happiest when finding their car has been towed. Other than that, they got the job done
It cost a total of 175 to get my car out. You must have the title, registration and I.D in order to get your car.
My car was "disposed of" without my knowledge. No one can tell me what happened to my car, or tell me who's in charge of the facility. A couple people I talked to were nice. Some were mean and rude. No one seems to know or be willing to give me a full story as to what happened with my car, how the department is structured, or how things work.
The auto pounds fall under the purview of the Department of Streets and Sanitation, headed by Commissioner Cole Stollard. I called to speak with him, and was told that Streets and Sanitation doesn't handle the auto pounds, despite the fact that the website says otherwise.
They deserve 0 stars. I'm only giving them one star because the system won't let me post unless I give one star. This department needs a total overhaul.
It's amusing to read all the comments. My experience wasn't bad. I knew beforehand that I might have to deal with some rudeness and toxic behavior. My approach is to not stoop down to their level. I remained polite and smiled even when they tried to be rude. Eventually, they couldn't break me and allowed me to skip the line. I got my car back within 15 minutes. Sometimes you just have to show them positive behavior, and they will follow suit. Thanks for a great experience.
I’d say some of the few negative things I’d have to say about this location would be the facility itself. Small, compact trailer that can get pretty crowded easily with even just 10 people. With my experience, the facility getting overcrowded and the long wait time (2 hours for me) were the negatives I experienced. I would like to commend Sue who helped me out as best as she could and was overall pretty professional with me considering she was basically the only person working there, trying to attend to people in line while also answering the phone calls that kept coming in.
This place doesn’t prepare you for all the things you need to pick up your car. They don’t tell you it’s cash only until the very last minute (and they don’t have an ATM). They don’t tell you the owner of the car has to be physically present to pick up the car. All of this caused a lot of delays so I was sitting in the lobby for a few hours. During this time I watched them be rude to numerous other people. For example, to pick up your car you need your drivers license. But two people had their license in their towed cars and were told they couldn’t pick up their cars or retrieve anything from their cars
Please! Please! Do something about the unprofessional behavior at this location! I was there on 8/29/2023 the young lady with glasses and long colored nails treated me like I was dirt under her feet ! I’m 72 years old and never been spoken to in such a disgraceful manner! I’m going to write a letter to the City!
Terrible institution. One in every three phone operators were not rude. They held my car outside for two weeks with a broken window. It got rained on. Chicago needs to redo how they approach this infrastructure. If your car is here get it out as soon as possible. Awful place.
Amazing people, very helpful with getting my car back. I think people take they frustration out on the workers because the city workers gave them a citation. And no one is trying to pay extra cash if it's not needed. But we all have a job and rules to follow. Keep up the great work.....
So we waited in line for an hour got to the window and we’re told to paid at the cashier’s window for a boot that was never on the car. Get to the window where we were sent and the lady there freaks out and tells me she call us by name. ( how would she do that when no one took our names) so now I am waiting on crazy lady to call my name that she doesn’t have. Put my son back in the other line so wont wait another hour of two. They will on accept card with the person that owns the car. We are good we have that.
I guess you really can't complain about some people. They come off as rude because of the way they talk, but the intentions are right. I was taken care of by a woman who did her best. Basically in for a few and out. Nobody wants to come to a place like this, but it is what it is.
The ppl in here are beyond rude starting with the employees but as the further you go you see they get it from their supervisor.I understand it's a work establishment but they should not be allowed to handle people property careless and then talk to them careless. I did NOT receive my car back in the same condition I sent it in as. And that's when everything became an issue.
