I’ve been getting service at AB through several cars for over 20 years now. As always, Paul and his people are honest, thorough, thoughtful, professional and friendly. Everything is explained so I always leave having learned something. I’ll continue to recommend them far and wide. 👏👏

Staff was friendly and knowledgeable, they were able to look at our vehicle in a very timely fashion and diagnosed/fixed a problem that the dealership failed to figure out. They were very communicative and super reasonably priced. Will definitely be going to AB Marathon for any future service needs!

I was referred to Eddie by a friend of mine. I called him yesterday morning and asked if I could bring my car in for an oil change and he took me in right away. In person, he explained in detail what they would do and the rates for labor and parts. During the inspection, they discovered some issues that needed to be addressed, including a leak I asked him to investigate. Eddie called me with a thorough explanation of the prices, including parts and labor. I am very happy to have a trustworthy mechanic in my new neighborhood!

Then they follow up with options or suggestions, even if it doesn’t benefit them. They are trying to give options that are appropriate for me and my vehicle. I recommend this car repair shop. I had my car towed to this repair shop as it broke down the night before. I spoke to Eddie first thing in the morning and he advised they would take a look at the car to see what was wrong. Eddie called back a few hours later and explained exactly what needed to be done and why. The repairs were made the same day as well as an oil change. I will definitely use this repair shop in the future.

Like many here - I’ve been taking my car here for over 10 years. I stumbled on some random yelp reviews and saw this place had a really loyal clientele. They are fantastic. They explain everything clearly to me - insist on it actually, and will absolutely tell me if something is necessary - or if I can wait a little. They’re fast, always on time, and even remind me every single time to make sure I’ve pulled what I need out of the car. I will not bring my car anywhere else in the city - even with plenty of other places easy to get to, going to AB marathon is absolutely worth it.

I’ve been using AB Marathon for over a decade now and they never disappoint. I have a 2010 Subaru and a 2002 Toyota, and they’ve keep them both running great despite their age and city wear & tear. The crew is always upfront with what’s needed and what’s not, and have great communication skills. In addition, they’ve always been ready to advise and make referrals as needed, such as for minor body work. Never a surprise with AB Marathon and always great to work with!

Have been going to them years and always great and honest service. Brought my car in with 3 issues: radiator leak, fuel gauge broken and oil change. They gave me a call and said the radiator was fine, the leak was just the ac condenser doing its job, the fuel gauge would be covered by the car warranty so just bring it to the dealer and get it repaired for free and the oil change would be the only thing needed to be done. They easily could have padded the bill by doing the unnecessary work but didn’t and instead of spending a $1,000 or so I just had the cost of the oil change. Great honest service. Can not recommend them enough.

Paul and team are amazing! Our transmission died in our Jeep Wrangler in a road trip through Chicago. They were able to diagnose the problem quickly and gave us a fair price on a replacement transmission. I have had some horror stories with repair shops in the past, so they are a welcome change! If you’re looking for honest and well priced car repairs, look no further! Truly appreciate all the hard work they did for us and quick turnaround.

My mechanic of 20 years retired and I was at a loss of where to bring my car. Thank goodness a friend recommended AB Marathon. From the first phone call to the pickup I was thrilled. Admittedly I had neglected my 2014 Toyota Rav. 4. I was given a list of items that were needed and a fair estimate. I was expecting the work to take days but to my surprise it was ready in 24 hours. Paul and the team have been keeping my '09 Toyota running great for years now. I truly never thought I'd own a car this long, let alone one in such good shape. They actually get excited about it, and they take pride in the effectiveness and efficiency of their work. They're so easy to talk to, and they always communicate anything they've run across during a checkup before starting work, with an honest appraisal of what's an urgent problem and what can wait. It's been such a relief knowing I have someone I can trust with my car, and satisfying to have worked long enough with them to see the results.

When I moved to Chicago a few years ago, it was a priority to find a mechanic that I trusted. I read many positive reviews of this mechanic and WOW were they absolutely correct. You know how some mechanics just try to charge you extra because they know they can? Not these folks. These people take time to explain to people like me (who don't know much about cars) different options for long-term car care. They're patient and informative and are often done with the labor BEFORE their estimated time. I trust them, and they have my 15-year old car running healthily out here in these Chicago streets. Took my car into AB Marathon for maintenance and repairs, the mechanics were friendly and communicative, making sure I knew in depth everything that needed to be done and why before moving forward. AB Marathon has been my auto mechanic shop for many years now. Finding a trustworthy mechanic is tough, these day. Paul, Ed and their mechanics are the very best. They have build their well earned reputation on excellent service at a reasonable price. They give you a breakdown of everything, including part and labor, before any work is down. They prioritize immediate needs and let you know what can wait. They've helped me out of many a tight spot. They rate 5 stars, from this very satisfied customer!

Paul and Ed are the most informative and professional mechanics that I've used in decades. I love that we discuss the problem, talk about multiple solutions and also look for cost saving ways to make our cars work better and longer. I hate spending money on our cars, but when you feel comfortable with your mechanic and you know they truly have your best interest in mind it makes it so much easier. I completely endorse them. Use them for plugging tires to replacing brakes, radiators and transmissions. Great team!

I’ve been taking my car to this place for over 2 years and I have nothing but praise for the professionalism and good work of the mechanics here. Paul and Eddie have been helping me with my car’s repairs and maintenance and they’re the best. They tell me exactly what is needed, they don’t BS, and they are far more affordable than if I were to go to Pep Boys and get ripped off. A.B. Marathon in Andersonville is the best. I’ve been going here off and on since 2012. Off and on only because I’ve purchased newer vehicles that were still under warranty so all services needed, I’d take back to the dealer. My vehicle now is 5 years old. Going back to Marathon for routine maintenance was a no-brainer. Eddy has taken care of both myself and my mother when her RAV-4 broke down needing a battery and alternator. He was patient, kind and very considerate of my mother especially since she knows nothing about cars. Their prices are more than fair and the work is quality. I don’t trust easily with anything in this life but I trust the guys at A.B. Marathon.

I have trusted AB Marathon's service team with everything my car has needed since it has been out of warranty. They are honest and tell me both what I need to do and what is not necessary. They work to keep the cost down and the repairs are done right. It is also convenient - just drop it off in the morning and they try really hard to get even bigger repairs completed in one day. This is the only service station I use and I can get everything I need done here.
