Fred’s has been my go-to for years. Whether it’s a quick fix or a bigger repair on my Mazda, their team gets it done right and gets it done fast. Professional, thorough, and easy to work with. Couldn’t recommend them more!

They were so helpful; gave a recommendation for a tow, were patient with my rambling and anxiety. They got my little car all fixed up so quickly. Fred and Joe are absolutely lovely. I'll be going there for anything from now on. Thank you gentlemen.

Hi, I had my car serviced with you several times today. I noticed one tire is low on air and asked if you could add air. I was told it would cost $30. I just wanted to check if that price is correct, since it’s only for adding air to one tire. Thank you.

My car is old (28 years old to be exact). When my brakes went out, while I was driving on the highway, I pulled over and immediately began calling mechanics to see if anyone could fix my car. I heard more noes than yeses, until I called Fred's. Joe answered the phone and could not have been nicer (I think he sensed that I was near tears). He told me to bring the car in at my convenience, which was very helpful since I work full-time and had to have it towed to the shop. I got two new brake lines and brake fluid for less than $450.00. I not only found a mechanic, but I found people that I trust with my very old (but very loved) car. I highly recommend Fred's.

Best mechanic shop in the area! Call them, most stuff completed in a few days. Fred, the owner, is one of the nicest most straightforward guys I ever met. Not only that but every time I go in, he ALWAYS asks about my wife and father in law, (great memory). In all transparency I am an auto insurance adjuster and have worked with Freds as many customers repair facility. I do not work for them and other than our jobs overlapping I am not affiliated with them nor am I writing this in any official capacity. But I have never ever had a complaint about the work there or the treatment by the staff and even if I tried I don't think I could find a problem that any customer has had or me as an adjuster. They do a great job advocating for the customer while working with insurance carriers and parts vendors. I would trust them with any of my vehicles any day! Fast, friendly, and reliable. What more could you ask for from a car repair shop. This was my first time coming here and I’m so glad I did. Great people there. Joe at the front desk ended up saying the issue I brought my car in for would be better suited for the Nissan dealership to fix and thus didn’t charge me for the diagnostic on daily storage. His honesty, understanding, snd empathy shows that they are not like any other mechanic that would rip you off. Definitely bringing my car in for any other issues that arise in the future. It’s also worth noting that my girlfriend has been bringing her car in for maintenance with them and has always had a great experience

I’ve only changed my oil at Fred’s since I got my car. Each time was a great experience. You can tell the owner really cares about the place and rushed my appointment to get me out earlier. Will come back always.

Went to Fred's on the recommendation of my body shop (Luis Auto Body- also fantastic) and was incredibly happy with my experience. I ended up dropping the car off late at night (unannounced), received a call first thing the next morning to discuss the issue, got a fair quote, and a new starter was installed in a matter of hours. To top if off, the rep I met in person, Joe, was friendly and helpful. I will definitely return when the car needs attention again. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

The website for this place says they're "The Best Auto Shop for your Subaru in Chicago" and it's absolutely true. Multiple places in Chicago couldn't find anything wrong with my older car, even when it was regularly stalling out and shutting down in the middle of the road. Fred's had it diagnosed and fixed within 24 hours for a reasonable price. If you have an older Subaru model, don't bother going anywhere else in the city.

Fred's is my go to auto garage for all work on my Honda Pilot. Even had the car towed there from Michigan when it broke down as they do quality work at fair prices. The rest of the 5 star reviews are dead on about their team.

Best experience at an auto repair shop! First time coming to Fred's. Made an appt and dropped my car off at 7:30am for grinding brakes. They called me back about 30 min later to let me know I needed brake pads and rotor and provided cost breakdown for parts and labor. Told me that it would be ready by noon, but it ended up being ready before 10am. Very swift and friendly service. I will go here for all future auto repair work.

I completely understand all the five stars for Fred's. Great customer service and excellent work. They quickly diagnosed my problem, gave me a reasonable estimate, was able to secure the part the same day, and within a few hours, I had my car back running great again. Wonderful experience.

Friendly and excellent service, swift and clear pricing. Value for money. We have been coming here for years with minor and major work (blown A/C hoses, dead alternator, complete fuel tank replacement). Joe the office manager and Ray the garage manager are nice and super quick, and Fred the owner (an actual person) is also nice. Recommend calling in advance if possible, they are popular!

My gf got a referral for this place and they said "they do good work" Her car needed fixing and went with them. I brought the car in at 1pm and it was ready the next day at 8am. The mechanic, whose name I don't recall was pleasant and professional. We needed a new alternator and belt, and a flat tire fixed. During the work they found our battery was not charging correctly so they gave us a new one for the same price. Speaking of price, it was reasonable and affordable. Joe with whom I had my communication with was professional and courteous and the pick up was quick and easy. Stewie was great as well. All in all a great experience. Thanks and we will be coming back for that brake job.

My car wouldn’t start this morning, and Fred walked me through the next steps calmly and helpfully. Within an hour, my car was towed, and Ray quickly explained the necessary repairs, the charges, and kept me updated throughout. Even Joe, who rang me up, was incredibly friendly. I was expecting about $500 in repairs and it came to just $382. The whole experience was top-notch, and I’ll definitely return for all my future car needs!
