I brought 14 items and not one item was $39.99 /$19.99 ! (DISCOUNTED) When he gave me the total I was sure the things I got shouldn’t cost that much , so I came home counted up the items and realized I was right he over charged me on purpose , he kept looking weird to see if I wasn’t looking at him or IDK , this was March 9 2026 , around 8:25pm Monday ! I’m going there

It was a good experience. I guess some Fridays in early morning are good days, not always but today it was.

BEWARE OF THE SCAM PARKING LOT. I was booted while shopping. I went directly into the store and directly back to my car. The attendant claimed he witnessed me walk past the store and tried to intimidate and harass me. If you're going to park there, I suggest recording yourself walking in and out of the store and checking in with employees who can vouch that you're there. Otherwise it's $170! I LOVE village discount, am a loyal customer, they're my favorite thrift stores in the whole city and I visit but I am now reconsidering my support. The corporate number said they have nothing to do with the parking company and would not help me. The manager was sympathetic but just directed me to the corporate number. Another customer said they did the same to her and came out to support me. I’m attaching the city complaint form for booting if you need it!

Great selection, friendly staff. Most things are organized by color so once you settle on a color you have to hunt for sizing. Minor things still a great place to thrift

I've shopped here several times, never a great experience. Messy place, lackluster service. Never cared to leave a review over it until tonight when they booted my car in the parking lot and charged me $170 to remove. Their parking lot looks to be owned by the pizzeria, not the Village Discount which is down the block. An honest mistake, and certainly understand either a slap on the hand or small fine, but $170 for running inside to grab a pizza for 3 minutes and not seeing their less than obvious sign, lot 80% empty, well that's simply egregious. Feels like they're making money off of this. For for this reason and all mentioned before, I will never be going back to the store.

Stopped donating here when I saw what they have recently started pricing items at. I can sell my stuff to a consignment shop, get 50% of the profit, and the item will likely STILL be more affordable to a thrifter. Think about that! Places that BUY their inventory, and only take designer + trendy, and CLEAN boutique environments, are now cheaper to thrift at than this dusty, musty general thrift. They seem to be trying to copy (can't say compete when they are so overpriced lol) online used companies which is pretty ignorant. Those platforms have millions of customers and inventory can sit for months still. Maybe they need to copy the business model of Whatnot. That's where inventory is sold in bulk, fast, for actual thrift store prices ($3-8.) Dummies!

This used to be one of my favorite thrift spots, but the prices have gone bonkers. They seem to love holding onto merchandise: shopping would be easier and more pleasant if the racks weren't so stuffed and the prices were more reasonable. They could pare down inventory, and use a proper tag machine instead of staples through the merchandise. Other resale stores like Unique and Goodwill, who stock less merchandise, now have lower prices...stores which are cleaner, brighter, sorted by size and they don't staple the tags. Still, Village Discount is worth a stop to see what's on special and which sections have good finds.

wow- the prices-you are a thrift store, not an antique mall. I see things priced so high behind the counter those things will never sell. I've actually been keeping an eye on maybe four different items that are still there for months what kind of a business are you trying to operate? Your pricing team is insane and detached from reality. your case items are so high its actually insane and is costing you sales overall.

The pricing people for this location are doing our community a disservice. All of the items in this store they get FOR FREE. To charge $60 (yeah you read that right) for a jacket is criminal. This used to be a place you could refresh your wardrobe on a budget. It’s now akin to any what’s-it’s-name department store. The finds are just as good as years ago, why has the pricing skyrocketed? I will still frequent this location as I enjoy thrifting, but I (and many others) have been priced out of several items.

I wanted to like this place but it sucks. No fitting rooms, only like 2 mirrors in the entire place, barely any effort put into sorting, and all of the good stuff is marked up like crazy. Not even worth the visit.

You have to dig a bit, but I have definitely found some treasures at this store. I swing by often and mostly look for houseware items. If you park in their parking lot, go directly to the store and you will not get booted.

don’t really have a lot of good stuff but it’s good sometimes. one time found 800 dollar shoes there!! I added some photos of shoes I bought here
Sep 08, 2025 -
They’ve lost the plot. Used Abercrombie for over $20, UNLINED polyester jacket for $25.99, used turtle necks for $17 — unethical. Overpriced. Vile. Once a staple place to shop sustainably, especially if you’re financially impoverished, has been taken over by pure greed. Want a used plastic toy that your kid will grow out of? Sure! $17.

I've been here a number of times and have found some great deals! This is one of my go-to thrift stores. I've gotten shirts for $2, pants for $8, jackets for $8, etc.. If you're willing to do some digging, you can find some great stuff. They have a large selection sorted by gender, type of clothing, and by color. I would recommend checking out the basement for shoes, bags, belts, hats, accessories and electronics. Also, you can sign up for rewards, and they have certain tags that are 50% off. However, the clothes aren't sorted by size, so it can be difficult to find clothing that fits, and there are no fitting rooms.

There’s a lot to browse! If you’re looking for a certain color of clothing, you will find it. Be patient and you might be rewarded.

This village discount used to be my absolute favorite. I used to find so many well priced deals. I’m not sure if they got new ownership, but the prices are outrageous. Dirty T-shirts with stains for 8.99, everything is so expensive. I found shoes full of dog crap for 18.99. I understand times are tough, but considering these are all donations, prices need to be more fair and need to reflect used merchandise.

It was a good placeti check out , nice prices and a lot to choose from , lately it became an expenssive store like Macy's but with old clothes and dirty store , it will be better to go shop at Tj max , Burlington ....... Ross , clean store , new clothes and cheaper prices .
Aug 12, 2025 -
The place has a lot of nice items but they are very greedy and their prices are ridiculous for used pair of pants they want $40 for a used T-shirt they wanted $12.99 and a dress was actually priced at $80. Nothing that's worth that much and all the stuff is donated so they're greedy and the prices are outrageous. There was a brand new two-piece baby outfit that they had put a price of $12.99 but the original tag was $10.99 marked down to $7.50 down to $3.50 by the store that originally sold it. Enterprise news 1299 are you kidding me buying itbrand new is cheaper

This store is always a mess so you can never really find anything good. There doesn't seem like there is a standard for the goods they put out. You have to dig through so much garbage so I recommend gloves. I'd compare it to the bins. The cashiers move like sloths. It can take 5 minutes to check out 3 things after waiting 15 minutes for them to get through the 2 people in front of you. No size organization just by style so you have to comb through everything to find one thing that may be your size. The parking in itself is very predatory. If you plan on going anywhere other than the thrift store, don't. You will be booted within minutes and pay $300 just to have them take it off. I've never had to pay that much to have a boot taken off anywhere in Chicago. Not even DT. For a tow maybe but for a boot removal it's outrageous.

Don't park in the lot, they will fine you $170 even if you are going into the store. I walked towards the Village Discount Outlet sign, and by the time I realized I went the wrong way (2-3 minutes) and turned around, my car already had a boot on it. I showed the trainee parking officer texts that said I was going thrifting from a few minutes earlier minutes earlier, but he said he wasn't familiar with the term thrifting even though he works in a thrift store parking lot. I told the cashier I got booted and was upset and he laughed, so I assume this happens all the time.

Overall disappointed Pros +tons of stuff! +some good brands, new with tag items +prices seemed fair Cons - no fitting room (this was a major issue for me wanting to buy jeans) - not organized by size so you have to look though so much - bottom level not accessible (went in with a stroller and couldn't go down there) - I couldn't even fit my standard single stroller in the checkout lane... -A worker thought about helping me when I was searching for fitting rooms, but then replied she didn't speak English and walked away

I love village discount outlet but this location has really good quality pieces overall. There is not much home decor to choose from (I prefer the one on Milwaukee Av) but sometimes you can find awesome things around. I definitely recommend checking this store. The lower level needs to be more organized imo but besides that workers keep everything in place the best they can. Prices are cheap for good staple pieces
Jan 29, 2025 -
Love you guys so much but can you please stop putting staples through collars and conspicuous parts of clothing? Bought a beautiful leather jacket and they charged $40 for it but there are four staple marks through the collar right in the front even after I did my best to take them out carefully. Just because these items are second hand doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be treated with respect. Everyone deserves nice clothes.

This place was amazing during its prime. Nowadays, it isn’t the same it used to be. Always new workers every month and still incredibly understaffed. There’s always workers putting up clothes but never at the cashier register. Prices on everything has gone up a lot ever since COVID. Prices on majority of the items are a joke, but there is always a hidden gem hiding. Cashiers looks clueless on what they are doing and they aren’t even there. It is messy place, but it doesn’t smell and there’s going to be things everyone will like. Never had any problems here or the parking itself. Would recommend, but just be aware that if you don’t go to the store, your car will get booted if it’s in the parking lot. Either way, if you want to go to a thrift store that has somewhat designer stuff, go here.

My go to thrift shopping spot! Every time I go, I end up leaving with an entire haul of quality clothes in good condition. I could spend all day looking through their selection. In terms of quality brands (not designer) this store has the best selection in the city — J Crew, Ralph Lauren, Polo). Their clothes section is (in my opinion) their best stuff, but they also have home decor, cookware, shoes, and accessories. It’s not the cleanest or best organized thrift store, but the quality of finds and the prices make it more than worth it.

I did not have a good time. Place is very messy and dirty, no criteria to put stuff on the shelves. Felt extremely uncomfortable.
Mar 29, 2023 -
They have a whole lot of stuff/selection. If you are patient enough to look, you will find good if not great items. While majority is probably used, there are still new items. Got another great coat today!
Feb 10, 2023 -
This location has a designated parking lot! The layout is well organized and the aisles are more spacious than other locations. Staff are great and keep the store very clean.

Went looking for inexpensive planters for end of season plants coming indoors. Walked out with a wood six pack carrier and an electric candle melter new in the box. My total was $6 buck but timing is everything when thrifting and this place has it's share of treasures.

My favorite village to go is this location! I always find great shoes, new items, brand name clothing, and great prices! It's always busy on the good sale days like Sunday's, Tuesday's, and half off days so you have to go early.
