This happened on 1/24 at about 2pm. I found a reel projector that looked just like this without the reel or a Power cord at the greenMount goodwill without a sticker. Took it to the register and asked how much it was. Talked to two great cashiers about what it was and how it should work. I asked how much it was on sale for and the ‘manager’ on duty essentially came up and ripped it out of my hands. No apology. No ‘this needs to be priced’ just took it to the back and said I can’t buy it because it’s not for sale. Even though it was on the shelf with everything else and a lot of stuff didn’t have sticker on it. The other 2 workers couldn’t do anything about it. The other 2 workers were great, but whoever that manager is was rude and shouldn’t be in charge of a fish tank. 10 bucks they pocketed it and it’ll be on eBay within a week.
The man that was on staff was so rude and dismissive. He openly expressed his disdain for his job, his coworkers and the customers. I asked about donating he rudely said they were not currently taking donations, but would start later and suggested I come back after 2. I drove 30 minutes back to the location for him to rudely address me again and announce they were only accepting home goods, when he knew I wanted to donate clothing. He could have told me that the first time I was there to donate. He definitely needs to find another job that has nothing to do with the public. I will never go to this location again!
Please be careful if you are buying Clothing/Furniture/Textiles/Bedding from any thrift store, including this one.
I recently bought a full set of what appeared to be new cotton sheets from here for $20 which is a great price. I washed them twice with hot water and detergent. However, right after using them, I developed a severe rash all over my body.
However, for the rest of the review, I have nothing but positive things to say about this store and the people who work there. They were extremely kind and helpful.
This is a great place to find used books in this neighborhood, or anywhere for that matter. I found a copy of Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams, which is one of my favorite cookbooks, for $1.25. They had a good amount of Penguin Classic paperbacks (mostly from Victorian authors) for $1, which is amazing as well.
They put out dirty clothes and shoes. I don’t know if they can or cannot clean them first before they put them out on the floor. Some of the things on the racks and shelves, I consider trash. This store needs some thorough cleaning. Some of the staff is nice.
Soo. I can’t say I hate it cuz I don’t. I think they have a terrible intake a processing system. As someone who used to manage a thrift store I don’t understand how the shelves are always half empty with things no will will buy. Like a $2.5” composition notebook that is only $.50 at Walmart. Why is the lid of the mug a different price when the mug comes with a lid. Why not create a set of cups for $10 v each for $2.5. It’s less likely to be purchased this way. Also no one wants the vases you get for free at Safeway. Stop wasting processing times on those items. Or the $15 SHEIN in dress that $5 on SHEIN right now. I understand they want to increase revenue but they need to do it by processing quality seasonal items. You have to go daily to get good deals but it’s not impossible.
I visited the Greenmount Goodwill location at 1:58 p.m. today carrying two heavy boxes of new and like-new bakeware from high-end brands and new-with-tags clothing that I needed to donate. Before heading over, I called the store and checked the website to verify the donation times for today, which were listed as 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. on both platforms.
Upon entering, I was not greeted. Instead, a gentleman working the cash register curtly informed me that “the donation time is over for today, we are not accepting any donations.” His tone was matter-of-fact, so I simply told him, “no problem, thank you.”
Directly outside the store was a large sign displaying the store and donation hours, which mirrored the information provided on the website and over the phone. As someone who relied on thrift stores as a kid and young adult, I am intentional about donating my goods within my community, particularly in areas that often do not receive the best quality goods.
It was inconvenient to drive to this location only to be turned away and then have to drive out of my way to the County to donate my items. Good customer service should include a greeting, an explanation, or an alternative solution. All communities deserve to receive quality donations during the stated hours, not just the “middle class and wealthy communities.” If you’re not accepting donations, update the information or at least don’t put out the huge store sign out front.
Instead of driving to the County next time, I’ll give my items to another thrift store in the City that has better customer service.
I would advise not to go there. The store is supposed to open at 10 am. There were people outside, and one man called the store to ask why they weren't open, and the lady inside said it would be another 30 minutes because she waiting on someone. I wonder if Goodwill know that these employees open the store any time they get ready and not the time on the door? People started piling their donations up against the door and leaving the lady inside came and let someone in who works there and didn't even pick the stuff up. She just locked the door back and left everyone standing there. This store sucks.
I brought a keyboard from my iPad. Took it home realized it didn’t work. I didn’t even what a refund just an exchange. Never got a receipt the MANAGER checked the camera and told us exactly how his employee threw the receipt away. Called his manager who told him no. Been calling corporate all day NO ANSWER
It smelled like urine really bad in the store today, it was overwhelming near the clothes. I've gotten some hidden gems here but I browsed for bit and got out.
Going to thrift stores is my main hobby, so I have been to lots of Goodwills. This is the worst one I have ever seen. Barely any merchandise and a lot of trash on the shelves.
This is my neighborhood thrift store. I shop here at least once a week. And sometimes try to shop here the last hour before closing because I work 9 to 5. This works sometimes and I buy things and sometimes he stops letting shoppers in at 6:30. I want them to allow us to shop until 7 o clock p.m. closing time.
Manager late opening store. Had employees sitting on ground for more than 30 minutes now I’m outside of the store waiting to get a shirt for my interview, which I might be late for because of the manager at this location.
This place is a pleasant environment as well as friendly respectable employees. Always find wonderful things. Michelle on freemont, Jackie, as well as the rest of the employees are very wonderful an very helpful. I will definitely come an ship again.
I've been coming here for over 15 years and no matter whose working I am always being over charged!! this is differently OLD now and tiresome!!! ... I go to them all and this my least favorite (but convenient) because of it.. Yes the staff is very friendly as well
I just wish i could of shopped there today.i went and shopped and Saturday and found two brand new bathing suits walmart and other stores were putaway amd dint have any out cauae of the season.its now fall great prices.
Very good selection of things you may need or want that you hadn't thought of until you see it. All for a great cause, everything is clean and in good if not great working order. Great women's and children's section.
