What clients say about Sims Metal in Old Baltimore (MD)
Bunch of thieves! Took clean metals along with some that was not. I clearly stated this is clean, this is dirty. Told me to put them both in the can. Again I said this is clean. Well guess what? My ticket shows only dirty... that's theft!!! They are thieves and should be in jail
Love this place but feel like sometimes my materials aren’t classified the same as other yards would give, also just called and asked what the price is on insulated #1 and got “sorry what is that” as a response😂
I will only return to this place if I have to out of necessity. They deduct a "service fee" or something like that from your scrap payout, and the last time I went there they somehow "lost my truck in their system" after I unloaded a water heater from my truck. They wanted me to load it back into my truck and drive back onto the scale again. Aint no way I was gonna go through all that trouble just for a few bucks!
It used to be good here until they started discounting from the total amount and They are now paying 3 cents less per lb than the scrapyards in the area.
I have been to a few scrap yards in the Baltimore area ( Owl metals, Recovermat, Canton). So if you are on the east side of the tunnel, I highly suggest Sims Metals.
Sims metals has a very organized system backed up with friendly staff.
Easy place to sell your scrap if you just follow the rules . The yard is orderly and clean with a cheerful staff to guide the process in an efficient manner.
And you always get a fair price.
I've got to say I'm very impressed i was injured due to my own negligence "not paying attention tossing scrap" and the staffs response was amazing with helping me tend to my wound "a semi massive gash" patched me up i made my money and went to the er after all I can say is thank you all simple things like this mean a lot from one business owner to the next
My car was Recently reported stolen in I have gotten a letter in the mail that some one sold my car to this place they are trying to charge me 900 dollars to get my car back which is Ridiculous they got my car with out a title smh in a key this need to be against the law to accept cars with out the title I will be coming with the police to get my car back this place doing some shady business
Nice staff, Alex who runs the scale house is very funny guy, but very professional and he doesn't waste anytime getting truck through the scale, this guy dosen't play and there is never a backup when he is on the job.
This has to be one of the cleanest and well maintained yard that I've ever been in.
They tried to rip me off by paying me sheet aluminum price when I had solid aluminum wire. The Mexican that work there is ignorant and does not know his job. NEVER GOTO THIS PLACE!!!
Every time I come here I catch an attitude from the guy weighing out copper/aluminum for trying to make sure my metal is classified correctly. Like today I scrapped 27lbs of cast aluminum and he tells me to throw my clean metal in with my dirty metal, giving me a lower price. And when I said something he goes "well I'm the one buying it so..." this has happned before with copper. I don't know I just feel like I get ripped off every time I leave there. And the recipt they give you has all kinds of numbers on it, except the price they are going to give you... that way you don't know your getting low balled until they already paid you.
