Before now I was an advocate for Pep Boys because my usual service technician Julio was an awesome Technician and would service my car with great detail and keep me updated on every single detail of my car and even help find coupons for services pertaining to the maintenance job I got done that day. He no longer works for this Location on Washington. Which I found out February 12th in the am when I bought my car up there. Instead my service Technician was Miguel. I bought my car in smoking with light white fumes coming out the tailpipe and a loud smell of gas. He told me he would do a diagnostic test but it might be my head gaskets because it was oil on the tail pipe. It wasnt. It was gas no oil residue whatsoever. I left my car and didnt hear from Miguel the whole day until the next day until I called him and then was told that one of the fuel injection wasnt working and that it would be 650 to replace and to remove the intake manifold. I was under the impression that was an estimate for the work done to the car as a whole, so I told him imma come up with that and when I did, I gave him the go. To make a long story short. That was the price of just the extended diagnostic test to remove the manifold and then find out more things wrong with the car. The final amount they tried to charge me was 2000 dollars. I was so upset. What type of price is that. I have a 2004 kia sorento. Kia parts are cheap. The car is old. I refused the service and took the car to my mechanic since high-school. For the price he charged me for the intake alone, my mechanic fixed my 1 injector and replaced my spark plugs and wires and the cables. PEP BOYS TRIED TO SAY I NEEDED ALL 6 OF MY INJECTORS REPLACED. ALONG WITH A RADIATOR CAP, SPARK PLUGS GASKETS, AND A HOST OF UNVARIABLE NON EXTSTENT PROBLEMS MY CAR DOESNT HAVE. If u go to this location I DO NOT RECCOMEND MIGUEL AS YOUR SERVICE GUY! IF U DONT BELIEVE ME READ MORE REVIEWS! I CANT BELIEVE ITS STILL PEOPLE IN THE WORLD THAT WILL TRY TO DO U OVER LIKE THAT. Pepboys is a name brand and AND CHAIN WHICH I know its extra for places like this but more than double the price and to throw in services that aren't recommended. Thats a HUGE MISTAKE. So my experience this time after a few years coming here was horrible and stressful. A complete waste of time and money and I will no longer recommend my friends, family or strangers to come here. Julio is at the cerritos location now. Go there! And tell them I sent you. Or Mexicali in compton for a more affordable and professional service. They have been my mechanics since I had my first car. Ask for Arcelio or Sameul his son and tell them I sent u! Period! 600 for a diagnostic test is outrageous!!!!!!! 2000 for any service a ripoff anywhere for any car with cheap parts like a 2004 Kia sorento. Do better Miguel! Smh. Pathetic!! ****Also I forgot to add. Miguel's communication skills were terrible too. He wasnt keeping me updated with my car at all. I had to call in everyday it was there which was for 7 days straight. Also he kept telling me he needed a part he couldnt find which was called an intake manifold aurelator. He looked for that part for 2-3 days and I looked it up and found it on ebay for $25 dollars. So he got upset and told me to order it then. My mechanic Sameul mentioned i didnt even need that part at all. Smh. Thats what I am talking about. This why I dont trust new mechanics. I stick with my good ones and thats it. Never again! Ever!!

I scheduled an appointment online and selected the tires for installation on that day. I called beforehand to confirm their availability and was assured that my tires were ready and just awaiting installation. Upon arrival, I checked in; however, the attendant claimed that I had no scheduled order and then attempted to upsell me on more expensive tires. I demonstrated my confirmation email on my phone, at which point she acknowledged my order. This employee demonstrated dishonesty. It was evident that she was unsettled by my me showing her the email as her demeanor shifted from a friendly smile to a cold, ice-like expression, providing only brief yes or no answers. She initially quoted a two-hour service time, but the process ultimately took approximately seven hours. Throughout the day, I had to contact the service center repeatedly for updates.

The ride-share app lists the inspection cost at this location as $19.99, but this is incorrect information. When I actually went to this location and asked an employee, they said it's $50. Don't waste your time. go to Jiffy Lube. It's $30 there.

Outstanding customer service. The Pep Boys team was professional, friendly, and genuinely helpful from start to finish. They communicated clearly, treated me with respect, and made the entire process efficient and stress-free. Manager Wendy assisted me today. I took in my truck be inspected for possible brakes needed. Wendy was helpful and friendly from beggining to end, she kept me updated on what was needed to be done on truck. I was in and out in a timely matter. -DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND STAY AWAY- My car was having powering steering issues so I decided to try and take it some where near my job for convenience. They lured me in with a same day vehicle inspection, which they did do, but it was all down hill after that. Miguel was the employee who did the initial intake on my car and was going to be assigned to me to keep me updated. He said he would call me in a few hours after the vehicle inspection to review what they found. Almost the whole work day passed and no call so I walked over after work and turns out Miguel had already left for the day without communicating anything to me. Now I have to take an expensive Uber back home because I didn't have time to coordinate a ride with someone because I didn't receive any updates. Next day (late morning) Miguel calls me and tells me they need to replace some parts in my car but he can't find the parts anywhere...he'll call me back at the end of the day with an update and cost estimate. Of course he didn't and when I call in he's gone for the day again...Manager, Wendy, says she will review and have Miguel call me the following day... Third day, I get a call from another employee, Jessica, who says Miguel isn't there today so she will be assisting me...she states they had the parts the whole time....and provides me some costs estimates (expensive - over $800 to change some belts, hoses and other little things related to p/s) Regardless, I authorize the work because I need my car back and she promised it would be done by the end of the day....So I call back around 4, three hours before they close, for an update and of course they havent started anything on my car and Jessica says they need to keep it one more day and she "doesn't want to rush the mechanics"....God forbid they try to stay on schedule and honor their promises... Fourth day, I've finally had enough and call them first thing in the morning to tell them not to touch my car anymore (not that they have anyways) and I'll be picking it up to go elsewhere. Tldr: the whole operation is horribly managed - employees dont call you when they claim they will, they give you bullshit, contradicting excuses and lies and they dont work on your car when they say they will. Not to mention expensive. A huge waste of time, energy and money.

All service and repair was standard and efficient. I would even have referred people but seeing as they charge $100 for diagnostic that did not go towards the repair fee I won't be. We all know car repairs are expensive enough but also charging so they can figure out what needs to be done is rediculous.

This Pep Boys was great I haven’t been to any other but have this as a first time experience dealing with the team has been amazing! Wendy in particular was a big key help in all this my insurance was covering costs and wanted to give me after market parts but Wendy wouldn’t allow it and when I had to come back after they reordered the more high quality parts I was helped right away Wendy got me checked in and seen promptly. I appreciate the whole team and I will highly recommend that anyone experiencing any car concerns to bring there car to this specific location!

I’m from Ohio visiting my daughter in LA for the holiday when her Jeep got a flat. She initially got her Jeep from a 2nd hand dealer so, unfortunately for her, her Jeep did not have the special key needed to remove the lugnuts. PEP Boys (Wendy, Jovani, Christian, Juan & crew) went above and beyond to find a solution for her and put her mother’s peace of mind at ease. Very respectful crew. She got a nice set of tires for Christmas. TY for not giving up and getting my daughter back on the road!

One of the worst experiences I've ever had. Skip this spot a day go to a legit mechanic. I went in dec 2024 to get my brakes done. They quote me over 1200 for both from and back. (First red flag) I needed help quickly so I said do the front and I'd come back for the back. After a few hours they called and said its ready. Got there and the front brakes still squeaked and had a tick noise when I stepped on the brake. Called and took it back, some guy helped me saying the brake pads needed to "settle" and that it would go away. He had the top 3 buttons opened on his shirt, chains showing and slicked back hairdo. I doubted him but needed to go, so I just took his word. About 2 months later I went back to get the back brakes done and told the same guy that the front brakes didn't stop squeaking and the tick never went away. I told him that I want both finished and properly, that I was irritated because this is not typical and they needed to get it right. After paying these ridiculous costs, I picked up my car and now it grinded, squeaked and still ticked. I decided to take it to a proper mechanic who told me that none of the parts this shop put in were lubed properly and he had to take it apart and lube it properly. What a joke, overpriced, rude unhelpful staff and giving this macho man a chance to fix it, they just ripped me off again. I doubt anyone at this shop knows what they are doing or properly licensed to actually repair cars. I'll never go to a PepBoys again, neither should you.

Wendy was hands down the best service associate I have ever encountered. I’m used to mediocre or outright bad service at places like these, but Wendy was kind from the moment I called to inquire about replacing a run flat tire and very personable when I showed up the same day.

Terrible as always. Simple tire rotation, balance and an alignment. Told 1:30pm. Came back to only tires removed with nothing done at 2:15. All other cars present were finished and other new ones being worked on. Not worth the shotty work and poorest communication ever, except their West LA Pico location…they by far are the worst.

Manny, Moe + Jack! They know what you're after! Friendly service. Good, reliable car repairwork. Their large operation, warranted work + long hours open can make them hard to beat when your car's acting up. Plus u can buy a battery or wipers + have them installed while u wait. So convenient. Great selection of car + vehicle parts, fluids, polishes. Tons of accessories to customize your ride here too. I've always wanted a t-shirt with their classic logo on it. Do they sell those here too? If not, they totally should. Tons of parking. Very busy during day times but they'll take care of you. Repair shop has a separate area + it's own waiting room. One of LA's iconic places.

Use to take my truck here for all kind of services, especially brakes and tires , but last time i took i had a horrible experience, they charge me for replace a gasket in the engine for oil leak, they did it wrong it was still leaking, i took it back for re inspection and they accepted it was wrong an say will fix it , will take a day to do it, i drop the truck Saturday 10/11, they damage/ broke something during the process of fixing there fist mistake, keep my truck to fix there second mistake and didn’t give me a window of time for fixing, very inappropriate, they keep my truck until Tuesday, i had to rent a truck from my own pocket to move materials for my company because they had my truck with them, when i came back to pick up my truck on Tuesday, they left my truck outside in the heavy rain with the passenger window down, some of my paper work was in that seat and get all wed soaked, it gets damage my paperwork from my company get damaged because there 3 mistake, also they left the ignition switch open so the battery drained , I needed to use a portable jumper battery to start the truck, when I started the truck in the area they work in the motor area had a horrible sound, I spoke with the manager and told him i was not taking the truck like that it sounded like the left something inside the motor and was making a horrible noise, manager was unprofessional he didn’t even give a date when the truck will ready , he didn’t even send anyone to check the truck at that moment until i make a huge complain, he was very unprofessional, i had to left my truck that day with them to get fixed, they nexy day I called to the status of my truck and say was ready to pick up they didn’t even called me i had to find out this by myself calling them to ask about the status of my car, this is a very important truck for me is my primary car for my company i have a handyman company and i really need this truck for moving myself and materials for my work, loosing days with them affects my pocket and the frustration of not even knowing when i will have my truck ready is not acceptable, last but not least, they charge me also for a damage sensor on one of the tires , said the light sensor in the dashboard will disappear by itself, the light stills there almost a week after, this is also another wrong work and did I mention this “ damage sensor” appears after they change the 4 tires for new tires, should i tell you the story of the tires , wow i wont have space or i will have a heart attack remembering that situation, Last time my truck was pick up Wednesday the 15, they didn’t tell me what was the issue with the noise in the machine, not an apology for leaving the truck with the window open on a heavy rain, and by friday the 17 i got a message that my truck was ready for pick up, how is that even possible? They didn’t even clear me from the system, yes i have to go back for the sensor light that still on and i bet you that now they will say to me this is another sensor , you need to pay again, i will give you an update.

Excellent tire service at a reasonable price. They kept the appointment time and took me in right away. It took less than an hour to remove the two original wheels from the car, install two new OEM TPMS sensors, mount and balance two tires I brought in on my replacement wheels and remount them on the car. Experienced tire tech that took care in mounting the tires on newly powder coated black wheels. No mars or scratches on wheels or in the lug nut area. He carefully loaded my original wheels and tires back into the car, along with the lugs and tire lock. I definitely recommend this branch for tire related services.

I waited 3 1/2 hours for my car I couldn't believe it was taking so long. I saw my car still parked at the 3 hour mark but I didn't confront them as I thought they would call me. As I went to the restroom the car was in the parking lot and when I asked the mechanic he asked me if my car was ready to go. He lost the keys and to ask around the shop to find them. It was a complete waist of time and the lost keys really pissed me off.

The people working today on Sunday Oct. 5, 2025 uncluding Lupe the manager are very unprofessional and rude. Came in for a simple oil change and it took 4 hours even with an appt. I scheduled ahead of time. Not only was their excuse stupid and not only did they fail to apologize...they had an attitude when giving me than answer. Then they failed to provide me a copy of the mechanical work they did on my vehicle saying it would be emailed along with my receipt because I booked through car advise which is BULLSHIT. Only the receipt is sent through the email and NOT the mechanical paper work. I hope these people learn to provide better customer service and learn WORK ETHICS instead of copping an attitude on customers for asking valid questions. Horrible staff I must say

My daughter arrived at 625p with a simple tire stem repair. The gentleman at the counter never looked up and said, “We’re closed.” However, closing time is at 700p. At least make eye contact next time. Extremely poor customer service.

Went in to get an oil change, and see if my car needed an alignment. They did a great job with the oil change and tire rotation and let me know the alignment was needed. It did take a bit longer than I was hoping but they worked as quickly as they could and they were very friendly and helpful. Worth going back should I need help while I'm in town again.

This place has great service as far as the mechanics but customer service could be improved. I called in at 9am pacific time on Aug 9th and a gentleman said they are full and have no available appointments for the whole upcoming week. When I walked in around 1:30 the same day another older guy clarified that they are not busy today and not fully booked for the rest of the week and that whoever spoke to me wasn’t right. Shady customer service.

The staff was friendly and professional, demonstrating a high level of knowledge and patience, especially considering my disability. I was pleasantly surprised by how detailed Jessica was when explaining the charges and fees. She also provided clear information about the credit card I could apply for to help manage such large espence due to my fixed income. I would definitely recommend their services.

I’m pretty pissed right now. I’ve been coming to this location for years to get my car serviced. I’m not sure what’s up with this staff but I literally walked in politely said good morning and the older guy working there looked at me like I stole something from him and he never said anything back. I stated I was here to get an oil change for my 10a.m. appointment. He said “let me finish here and someone will help you” with an attitude. I waited for 20 min and a young man finally helped me. I’m not sure this is how you treat loyal customers who patronize the business YOU work in. As people like me pay to keep you having a job, Make it make sense. Big up to the young cat who did help me and was very polite. The older guy needs to step it up or quit his day job those customer service skills are garbage. Staff needs to step it up it’s a collective thing as a group and the staff just doesn’t seem to helpful.

I went there today to do my Lyft car inspection with a really nice guy called Jesus who was prompt to attend me and gave me all instructions about the procedures that I had to make in my phone before they took the car to make the inspection. When I was done with the information on my phone Jesus right the way contacted me and made the inspection as soon as possible, I got good time and felling there with the fast service provided.
