Had a great experience with German Autowerks. Josh did a fantastic job of explaining what components of my 2013 335i's I should keep an eye on for potential problems. Found my battery had not been registered and took care of it. I have found my BMW repair and routine maintenance shop.

Took my Mercedes in for a brake repair. Customer service was great. They called with a quote and had the brakes completed within 3 hours. They went above and beyond and reset an error message on my car. Fast, affordable and quality work.

German Autowerks were able to get us in right away for a pre purchase inspection when I called. John looked at the car and gave us all the information we needed and took extra time to go over his opinions on the car. Unfortunately we live 2.5 hours away or else we would definitely come back for service.

Many years of great service, I have had Audis to my current 2019 Acura , they continue to give fantastic service. Thank you for GA.

I have taken both my son’s A3 and my daughter’s VW Beetle (most recently) to German Autowerks. I have found them at all times to be friendly, extremely knowledgeable and transparent. They will diagnose your issue, explain it to you in plain English and will not pressure you. Their estimates tend to be in-line with the final bill. If you’ve got a repair that will take an extended time, you might just get to drive a way-cool loaner while they have your buggy. I have not found their wait times to be excessive. I had never owned a German car, and within a short time I now have two in my household. German Autowerks is a terrific dealer alternative.

Have had multiple large services done on my vehicle, and am always pleased with the attention to detail in their work. Despite being prepared to have an entire timing chain service done, they found the components inside to be newer than the mileage would suggest, alluding to the job having already been completed. Overall great experience and I will continue to my vehicles here in the future.

I was recommended to take my 2015 BMW X1 to German Autowerks by a close friend. Where I was introduced to Chris, which by the way is very knowledgeable he does a great job getting you scheduled & quoted. My experience with German Autowerks has been great!! I love the fact that I’ve never had to leave my vehicle just sitting at the shop for days. The repairs on my vehicle were done right and i received my car back in a timely manner . The mechanics are very professional and honest. I highly recommend this place.

These guys saved me (I thought... see edits + follow-up below)! Basically 24 hours before I was supposed to go on a trip… my water pump starts leaking everywhere only a year and change after I had it replaced. He said it would be around $1,100 + tax and it came out to be just over $1,300 after tax. They are also super responsive! Clean garage too… that says a lot! Edit: they replaced my oil pan and it is leaking again after 1.25 years, and I just moved to Colorado… hoping they can help me resolve this and make it right. Edit 2: Every single repair that they made failed within 2 years. They do not respond to calls or emails. I can only get a hold of them via the phone during business hours. Have never once received a call back. I now live out of state and they don't use carfax. I am trying to sell my car and the guy said "you're gonna have to come in to get your service receipts". I said "can't you just email them to me?". Guy verbatim said "no because I'd have to scan them." Are you kidding me? I spend thousands and thousands of dollars at your shop and you can't email me records? What a complete lack of work ethic and professionalism. Dude, scan them and email them to me. We will see if I ever get a call back from them. They have been a nightmare to work with because they are so so lazy. Please avoid. Edit 3: They got me an email of my work! Thank you!

German Autowerks is the best!! Even though I have a jeep wrangler they installed new tires, balance and alignment. I will recommend this shop to everyone. They also work on our 2003 Mercedes SL500, taking care of the regular maintenance at a reasonable price. Love this place!

If I could leave 10 stars I would. I had recently moved and had to find a new shop to take my car to, and came across German Autowerks on Google. So glad I did. Hands down the best shop and customer service in Columbus.

Waited well over a year to post this review: Brought in a 2015 VW Tiguan R Line 4-Motion for a check engine light. This shop diagnosed the issue as a timing chain despite low mileage (sub 60k) and was quoted around a couple thousand to replace it. Being nowhere near the needed timing chain replacement mark typically needed on higher mileage engines, I had my doubts. I usually work on the vehicles but was out of state for work. I assumed they read the VW bulletin for the prior generation of this vehicle for a timing chain issue and did minimal diagnostics. Despite talking to them, insisting it was not the timing chain, and the bulletin was for a different generation, they held firm. I then declined work and had it towed to VW at MAG Dublin. Where they then replaced a faulty knock sensor in the engine which solved the issue. I called German Autowerks requesting a refund of the payment I made for diagnostics and explained what VW had found. I was willing to provide them all documentation of the repair, however, they refused to refund the money despite being wrong. It has been well over a year and the issue has not come back, I never needed a timing chain replacement. I am glad I trusted myself and decided to get a second opinion which saved me thousands of dollars. Do your research please, there are more experienced shops out there that have better integrity and can admit when they were wrong.

After Firestone gave me back my beetle with the brakes barely working and trying to sell me on other things I didn't need, I looked up local shops that handle European cars. It was instant relief pulling into their lot and seeing a handful of VW Beetles sitting outside. This shop was able to fix the issues Firestone caused, as well as get my car back up to standards. My brakes have never worked better, and my car idles so much more quite now. The things that Firestone told me I needed to fix my brakes were found to not be relevant at all. I feel as though the prices were fair, and the communication was great with frequent updates from Chris. I felt like they really wanted to help me out and get my issues fixed. I've had the car for 7 years and only now could someone tell me where my constant oil leak was coming from and actually fix it. I own two beetles, and will be taking them here from now on while I'm in Columbus. Thank you German Autowerks.

I took my Audi diesel here on recommendation and was happy with the treatment and service I received. The staff is friendly and made me feel comfortable. I felt like I was treated fairly and was pleased when the invoice was lower than the original quote. Will use them in the future and have already recommended them!

Experts know what they’re doing! Chris helped me out alot and was very patient and detailed on the issue my vehicle had. German Autowerks was very patient with my extended warranty and I appreciate it. Will be returning if needed! Thanks

Brought in a BMW that is starting to get up there in miles. Asked for recommendations on work that would need to be done to keep the car running as a daily driver. Really appreciate the thorough review and recommendations for only work that was needed and not any unnecessary work/expense. Also appreciate the quick turn around to avoid keeping the car over the weekend. Great guys working here.

I’ve been taking my Volkswagen Jetta to German Autowerks for over 5 years with no issues. Always quick to get scheduled, the work they’ve completed has been exceptional, cost has been reasonable. Would highly recommend them for service on your Volkswagen vehicles.

First time taking my GTI to German Autowerks. Between the amazing customer service and quality work, super happy to have an alternative from a dealership for service. Chris took great care of me from initial phone call to handing me my key.

Several months ago my son contacted German Autowerks by phone, discussed the issue and towed his BMW 128i in for repair. His faulty (only 2 month old from somewhere else) water pump was replaced and has been functioning perfectly since. The work was completed in a timely manner and the owner was informative and super courteous. Much appreciated!

Had a common motor mount issue with my S7 and decided to take it to German Autowerks. The car has only ever had service work done at the dealership and nowhere else. I'm glad I did. Chris and his team knew exactly what the issue was and took great care of me and the car. I'll be coming here from now on. If you own a German car and need anything done to it or need diagnostics ran on it to find the issue, then this is the place for you.

I needed a few things done to my Rabbit, one of which was new headlight assemblies. The pricing was fair and the service was quick. When one of them ended up being defective from the manufacturer, they were incredibly accommodating in working with my schedule to get it swapped out with a new one ASAP before a trip out of state. They didn't give me any trouble about it at all, and stood by their warranty. Just like the first time I brought my car here, they went above and beyond to make sure things were done right. I really appreciate these guys and I know I can trust them with my Rabbit. Jeff, Chris, and everyone else, THANK YOU!!!

This place is a scam spend over $2400 to fix my car at 1st they were supposed to put new valve cover gasket on the car. Picked the car up and it was smoking so bad I took it back right away the. They said I need a new valve cover. So they charged me to put a new one in which the valve cover comes with the gasket so I basically paid for the gasket twice. After they said they fixed it for the second time I picked it up as soon as I started it the car started smoking worse than ever. They said that that was normal and now my car is leaking oil every where and smoking constantly. Also my check engine light was on when I got it back and they said they are sorry that they forgot to put some parts back on the car before giving me it so they did they but still didn’t fix what I paid for now my car is way worse than it was and now I’m out $2400. This is by far the worsts auto shop I have ever been too will never go back and will not recommend anyone ever go there. Horrible customer service the mechanics are not certified and do not know what they are doing I had to show them what to do and where is was leaking. Very unprofessional. I WILL be calling my attorney and contacting the BBB and filing a complaint.

German Autowerks is awesome! Let me elaborate. I just bought a used 2013 BMW 328i xdrive a couple of months ago. In great condition, super low miles, and one month later, the transfer case goes bad. I took my car to be diagnosed and get a repair quote at local BMW dealership and was given a breakdown of all the parts that needed to be replaced and final cost for parts and labor. It was an astronomical amount. I decided to get a second opinion but had a pretty difficult time finding anyone willing to replace the notorious transfer case. I found German Autowerks through a Google search and immediately Terry was super kind and knew the problems people have with transfer cases going bad. He told me they could absolutely fix it and to just bring my car on in. I forwarded the quote the BMW dealer gave me to Terry and upon inspecting my car, they found that my car did NOT in fact even need all of the parts replaced that I was told by the dealership. German Autowerks was able to fix my car quickly and for less than 1/3 of what the dealer was going to charge. Terry took the time to explain what they did, inspected, and the test drive upon completion of the work. He also reassured me that my car is in great shape aside from the transfer case having gone bad. I can't say enough good things about the service they provided and they have definitely gained a long term customer in me.

At first I was happy with my choice of using German Autowerks to service my X3, although it drained my wallet. It started as a basic oil change to thousands of dollars in repairs. Had NO signs of oil leaks prior to visit but ended up paying for an oil stand housing gasket leak, a valve cover leak, and coolant flush because supposedly the wrong coolant was put in even though it was filled with bmw compatible coolant so I had them do all the work. But hey, I have to put my trust in someone to do the job and do it right so what I am supposed to do? Since having the work done, I do have signs of leaking in our garage now. I refuse to go back to them and have further problems "developed" from the last service work that was done. I took our car to another service shop and they shown me that my coolant was not flushed and the value cover was not replaced but simply cleaned off. He went down my list of service work I had done at German Autowerks and stated how I was way overcharged. Jobs that should have only taken 20-30mins was getting charged at 4 hours etc. It's hard to trust businesses especially auto service departments because they can tell the person that knows little about cars anything and get away with it. This is my experience and my opinion about this place. Many others probably had great service and everything needing to be done to their vehicles was legit and done correctly. Just be careful is all I'm saying. Best of luck to you.

At first the experience with German Autowerks was great then I had an issue with them not finishing the job before sending me home with my car. They had my car for a week before they stated the car was ready for pick up which it turns out it was not. I picked up my car on Friday and noticed all the issues Saturday morning when i turned on my windshield wipers and a piece of plastic flew out, part of my shroud. After popping the hood it was easy to notice a lot of work was left undone or done very poorly. They lost my battery cover. They broke the shroud for my air box and didn't even attempt to reattach. They left air sensor unplugged. They left a piece of the air box under the windshield wiper. The didn't reinstall the clamp on the MAP sensor correctly. They also didn't bleed the brakes properly after installing a new brake booster. I needed my vehicle so I finished the work that I paid German Autowerks to do. The Monday following was the first day they were open for business and I contacted Terry, one of the owners, to discuss this issue. He requested that I bring the car back and they would fix the issues. I told them that i had to fix the issues myself as I needed my car and they were closed on the weekend, not to mention they had my car for a week and couldn't complete the work correctly. I asked for a partial refund since I had to finish the work that I paid them for and to cover the cost of damaged and missing parts. At that point German Autowerks became very unprofessional. I will not do business with this company again due to the inability to complete the work they were paid for and the lack of customer service when they made a mistake.

A diamond in the rough- rare to find a group of people that go above and beyond for their customers but this is hands down the best auto service company I have ever dealt with. We live over an hour away, and the staff stayed late the last day of buisness before Xmas so we could check out an amazingly well priced used VW Beetle for our daughter. They were friendly, knowledable, honest and straight forward about their cars for sale and we bought here after looking at multiple dealerships previously. The people here make the difference, and you would be hard pressed to find any company with a better group than German Autowerks. We had a question about a month after our purchase and stopped by the shop and everyone was exactly as helpful as when we made a purchase. They genuinely care about their customers and their jobs and it shines throughout the shop from the mechanics that came outside to demo the answer to our question, and to the friendly front desk people that greet you with a smile. Bob remembered our purchase and asked if our daughter was surprised...she was there this trip and got the chance to tell him herself that it was "the best Xmas ever and she LOVES her VW Beetle" Thank you to all at German Autowerks- We will make the hour+ drive for any service needs in the future because that is how highly we value the staff and service we received - you can trust German Autowerks cares

Dont go here to fix your car. They charged me $320 to put on a stripped spark plug and they didnt even do it right the The ring still comes out when replacing the spark plug. They said that it was $90 for an hour of serves. I didnt have a problem, except when they told me it took a professional mechanic 2 hours to replace one stripped spark plug whole with a kit that is meant to be used by anyone. Then they said they replaced a hose for $15 and the hose was not even 6in long. you can get a 9ft from autozone for $9. They said they let me go easy because they put 2 gallon of gas because i didnt have gas and at the time gas was $2.15 a gallon.

My experience with German Autowerks was exceptional. I love my Beetle but it has a lot of items that need repaired. I took it to the shop and the service writer explained that they would need at least an hour labor to figure out what was needed. They came back with a list of items and took the time to explain each item and then prioritize what was needed and what could wait. They were very upfront about the potential cost of all the items but after I had the most needed repairs completed, my car ran much better and the warning lights on the dash were out. It still needs some work but I have an idea what it should cost if nothing else goes wrong. Its true that any type of car can have its issues but thanks to the good service and a professional attitude of the folks at German Autowerks, I am now a full fledged VW fan and possibly a life time owner.
