Took my 97 ranger to suttran automotive in desoto for engine rebuild. Schreve put in wrong camshaft. Sent motor back, they installed wrong rear main- plus pan gasket leaked. Suttran is out of business & now I'm out $8000 for bad motor & transmission that won't shift right. Schreve & Suttran are biggest crooks in Jefferson county. See them in court.
Got my motorcycle Engine resurfaced and had a great experience. Great service on the phone and in person. Job was done excellently, they went behind expansions and I was surprised by the price.

Well I must say, I'm very satisfied with Shrievs verses my past experience with them! The cost has gone up tremendously but the overall results for me was a nicely rebuild in my engine! Sure it was a lengthy process but I'm very happy with the results! Thank you ! Just be sure to get a full understanding of what you want from them and make a deal !
Purchased an engine block from Shreves, they were very helpful, did all the machine work it needed and kept me well informed every step of the way; and shipped it to me quickly when they were finished, friendly staff, block was safely packed for shipping and looks great!
I had my engine replaced and WILL NEVER TAKE MY CAR ANYWHERE but Shreves!!! I am recommending Shreves to everyone. Talked my son in taking his truck there. They pick up truck in Sep. 2020 . told us Nov. It would be done. Got truck in February 2021. Truck is broke down already. Konw we have to go to it and call them to see what they are going to do. Sorry I had my son go there
My 2 months ended up being 5 months missed deer season. I called several times and they said it was done and it was not. Had a long scratch down the passenger side 8 foot long. Money stolen out of the truck. I dropped it off with 3/4 of a tank of gas When I picked it up the light was on to get gas. I did Not know if I was going to make it to a gas station or not. I was Told that the engine light may come on and that is “normal”. Makes me wonder. I then went home and looked at the engine and a bolt was missing out of the valve cover. I called and informed them of my issues and nothing...What do you think does this sound good to you?.....12/2020
UPDATE: Got the car back after 3.5 months when it should have been about 1.5 months, and the steering column controls aren't working, the engine intermittently grinds at 1500 rpm, the airbag indicator is going off and the horn doesn't work. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE FOR ANYTHING. How the heck do you mess up the steering column that badly by replacing an engine, and NOT catch it during test drives?
I am sure they do good work, and seem to be testing my vehicle thoroughly, but what they lack is in communication. I would expect the customer to be notified when the original quoted work was done and if more work was needed, telling the customer what was happening when major milestones were done. This, insofar, does not happen, you almost always have to call them. If whoever is working on your vehicle is not there, someone might call back, or might not if the note gets lost. The lady who picks up the phone is very straight forward, does her job quickly, I don't know her name, but I understand and respect the process. I do hope I can get my vehicle back soon, but it's already a month later than they expected. I will be coming back to this review after more work has been done for updates.
Over 2 months after they said the work would get done, still no updates without calling them first. Even after requesting that they do so, even if they find nothing. It's called decent customer service, and it takes very little time and effort to just read off the attempts that have been made.
I totally understand that sometimes you just don't know what the problem is, but have any courtesy to try to talk to the customer.
Good customer service but overrated, overpriced, and I’m currently still waiting on my truck. I dropped it off in April it’s now November. When I call and talk to Colin he keeps giving me excuses.....they’re backed up,they can’t clear the codes,or they had two guys quit. I’m self employed and I’m gonna tell each and all my customers to not patronize SHREVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just had an engine replaced by Shreves and I am very happy with the job they did.
First, Collin was very patient with me when I called several times to get quotes and an understanding of what was to be done. Second, the job was finished without a penny more than quoted. Finally, my truck a 2003 dodge Dakota is running like a champ!
I would absolutely recommend these guys. Oh and by the way, they stick with you AFTER the job also to make sure you are happy!! Worth every penny!
I had my rebuilt engine put in my Ford F-150 back in Mar '17 and everything went smooth as a whistle. I had no regrets and was quite pleased with service and customer service. I had another issue shortly after that wasn't affiliated with my engine but they fixed it with no problem for a reasonable price. I've always dealt with Colin and he was very respectable and fair. When I had my 3rd visit with them due to what I thought was engine related, things didn't work out too well but they accommodated me for the trouble and all was well. Now less than 2 weeks after, I'm experiencing some issues that I believe are related to the last visit and Shreves seems to be treating me fairly and I just wanted to write this review beforehand due to their attitude and care of the situation. If there's a breakdown in the good quality customer care that I've been getting then I'll post another review. It's been some slight inconveniences but I understand things happen and no one or company is perfect. I'm just pleased that their not one of those companies to stonewall you or give you hassle when the problem is due to their work. Thus far, I recommend Shreves.
I agree with Wade. Shreves has been a nightmare. Had 2 engines. The first lasted about 6 weeks. The second leaks oil. They left parts off the engine and took the back seat out and did no put it back in place. There is more, but I don't have room in the message box to continue. Stay clear of Shreves Engines. They are incompetent and unprofessional. Don't be fooled by the claims they make on the website.
This is a regrettable decision to take my business here. I've had to take my 07 Dodge Charger back to this place 5 times now because of the tensioner on the timing chain. They can't fix it!!!! I made the suggestion of sending it elsewhere and Shreve pick up the bill. I paid $4400 for a rebuild 2.7 and it has been a nightmare. I'm terrified of what I'll do when the warranty runs out. Go elsewhere if you can. Don't let the long standing name and location fool you. Obviously this is not the same company that it started out as.
I was very happy with my experience with this company. I received a quote and that is exactly what I paid. I was not in hurry to get my car back as I had another vehicle so it did not matter how long it took. I would definatly use this company again and recommend it to my friends.
