This place is terrible, I was treated terribly while being “treated” here. There are no groups, sometimes they’ll take you outside for five minutes but they’ll stay on their phones the whole time not doing anything. I had a panic attack and asked to call my mom, they said no and told me my she was busy (she wasn’t). Then they put me in the calm down room and brought two men in there to watch me, even though it was supposed to be noted that I’m not comfortable being alone with males. When I was crying one of the staff members named Mrs.Tina stared down at me and told me to be shut up because they could here me down the hall, even though they were literally 10 steps away from me. I threw up on my floor and they ignored me all night even after I told them about it, the morning after they gave me a roll of paper towels and told me to pick it up. A few hours later I was reading during quiet time and I looked out my window to see a man touching himself no more than 10 feet away from me! They told me they were going to do something about it but never did. Later that night a male staff member got into a PHYSICAL FIGHT with a little girl because they wouldn’t let her go to the calm down room. He started yelling and asking all the kids if he hit her, which he did and we all saw. My mom pulled me out a few hours after, and I was only in there for 1 night. Please do not send your kids here, me and my mom knew nothing before I came here. This place is a hell hole

I can’t get my sons name off of this google review, but my name is Lea Ann and my daughters name is Trinity. She has been to the crisis unit twice and the situations were obviously awful. The first time she went was the first time we ever sent her to anywhere away from our home. We were all traumatized and felt like we had no hope. Everyone that we spoke to and dealt with from admission to discharge was absolutely kind, attentive, and supportive of not only my daughter but also myself. It’s the scariest thing to do to let your child who is struggling and already having issues to be left with complete strangers. They don’t make these kids feel like that. They make them feel worthy of care and attention and like family.

i was in the crisis stabilization unit for two weeks, and it disappointed me. my family also agrees that it didn’t help me at all. the staff were very unprofessional— i was having anxiety going to the front with other kids so someone took me in a room with another staff, then one staff laughed about it and said that the person who was watching me should have said no. this same staff also went out of their way to tell another child that one of the kids was doing too much and overreacting when they were upset about someone leaving. the groups were not helpful. they also gave me my school work with staples and paperclips still attached, which could literally be used to harm yourself. there was very easy access to those things. don’t take your kids here, coming from another kid, if you choose to go to any hospital choose vtcc (virginia treatment center for children) its really nice there, the staff is good, and the therapy groups are actually helpful.

It's an place for homeless women and children I dropped off and picked up an student that lives in an group home. From what I've heard they are an blessing to homeless women and children they are non profit so donations are very helpful

Unfortunately, my child was abused by the staff but the school coerced witnesses into finding a consistent story that noted otherwise. I wouldn't feel safe leaving my child, regardless of the service offered, with this provider/school.

Coming from someone who was there for two weeks, this place was highly unprofessional , staff would have attitudes and would at times come in smelling like marijuana or tobacco . DO NOT TAKE YOUR CHILDREN HERE

I attempted to bring my child in whom was having a severe crisis after being told they had emergency intake until 8pm. Got there and NO ONE would open any of the doors and we drove around to just about every building for help. All lights were on and cars out front it was apparent the staff were there , however no help anywhere in site while ringing and ringing doorbells also calling their phones. Had to take my son down to VCU childrens ER thanks to them, he got the help he needed. Thanks VCU!

This is coming from a teen who was in the crisis unit- it’s amazing. I’ve been to many crisis stabilization units, and Saint Joseph’s by far is the best. At other crisis units, the staff just act like they’re your doctor, you mostly just sit there and watch tv, and the only thing the staff cares about is your meds. At Saint Joseph’s, is was completely different. I bonded with the staff, along with the other teenagers and children. The children and teens bonded too. The staff truly cares about how your feeling, and how they can help, they truly want what’s best for the kid, and they are the nicest most understanding people. Saint Joseph’s crisis unit actually helped me, unlike other crisis units. I highly recommend this to a teenager in need of mental health help. These people are a blessing!

The campus is beautiful, well designed, great signage, and a lot of great people work there. The services they provide are second to none serving a diverse student population. The facilities and grounds are well maintained!! Thanks for a GREAT visit!!

Great work for children and people with special needs... if there are no other options left. However there is a serious problem with transphobia within, not all mind you, but a handful of staff members and social workers. Refused to use proper pronouns and constantly misgendering. So it's okay to be a little different and receive services, however if you are trans be weary of who you speak to about it, you may or may not be subjected to emotional abuse. I've also witnessed staff taking food from the pantry when it is supposed to be for clients in need. It's a service with good intentions but they struggle to keep bias and sketchy behavior out of the business. It is a religious based organization, so be very careful if you choose to go to them for help.

I've been a regular patient at the clinic for over 10 years. The staff, nurses & doctor's are great.

Outstanding organization doing great work for children. Caring staff members who understand the needs of the children and clients. The Culinary Dept. also serves excellent nutritious meals way above and beyond any other school menu in the state. No child goes hungry at the Villa.

I personally know many of the staff. They are all hard workers. The things they have to deal with here are just not in our capacity. The campus is beautiful and the architecture is great. This place will be around for a long time helping Richmond with less fortunate individuals.
