Brought my C7 corvette for a raddle / knock in the new Borla exhaust. A great group of guys and had me in and out within an hour. The problem was resolved and they took me back before and after to show me what they did.
My '74 Dodge Dart sedan isn't worth much, but I'm sentimental about this car, and want it to run properly. Jeremiah is always friendly and upbeat, and my car always turns out right. There aren't too many folks who want to work on vehicles this old (especially carburetors!!) so, I am grateful for Lakeside Auto. Highly recommend.
Lakeside Auto did a great job on adding front disc brakes & electric power steering to my '62 Vette. Scott recommended the brake power unit as well and this turned out great. Fastest stopping vehicle I have ever owned! Even though the electric power steering was a first time install for them, they did an excellent job on it. What a difference this & the disc brakes make!! This review is not about the quality of the work. This review is about communication with the customer, or lack thereof. It doesn't appear that they respond to any reviews so I'm unsure if they even see what folks are saying, but it is yet another indication of a lack of good communication with the customer. All that I will say is you need to specifically ask them to keep you in the loop and to call you before any work is done. If you don't, you should be prepared to pay a premium for whatever it is that they went ahead and did. Be clear...be very clear that you want to know what it will cost before they do anything. Good businesses are up front with their customers and keep them informed. If Lakeside is able to start doing this simple thing they will avoid making their clients feel like they were taken. Additionally, they have a sign that says there is a "3.5% discount for cash", but there is no discount. The rate they quote you is just an additional 3.5% if you pay by card. This is also misinformation that should be corrected. I will say they were very pleasant as I wrote the check.
It’s hard to find a good group of guys that actually still take pride in the work they do nowadays, But Scott and his guys at Lakeside Auto do just that. You may pay a little more than another shop But you pay for what you get. Very quality work.

Scott and his crew are tops in customer service. I purchased a 63 Corvette and Scott took time to go over the car with me to give me advice on purchase and service. I had several breakdowns and Scott was there for me to help me along. You can tell that he has trained his staff to give the kind of service needed to keep long-term customers. There is no doubt that I will be using him for all of my service. I’m a retired 50 year retailer and know that this is what it takes to stay in business as long as he has been in business. Fantastic company! I needed a harmonic balancer for my C5. I did my homework for who to trust in a 100+ mile range of Richmond Virginia who can do quality work, but particularly on Chevy Corvettes, and Lakeside Auto was almost always the answer. I interviewed Jeremiah and Scott at this establishment. I also did the same at alternate repair facilities. I chose Lakeside Auto: So glad I did. Professional, on time, accurate estimate.

About a month ago I had my brake caliper replaced with Lakeside, during the process they seized my wheel lug nut and did not inform me about it. I later learned about the seized lug nut when trying to get new tires. I called Lakeside, informing them of the problem, and they tip toed around trying not to admit to the fact that they were the ones that caused lug nut to seize. All in all, I would not recommend their services based on the fact that they could not at least admit that there could have been a lack of performance on their part which caused the problem.
I've had Lakeside Auto do several services to my Corvette including installing and fabricating an LS-3 engine with Tremec 5 speed as well as other suspension services and installations on my car. Their work is by far the best around. They perform their services in a very professional and clean manner and always treated me very well. Over the years I have had experience with several repair shops. The majority tell you they can do the work and are the best at it until it's time for the work to be done, then tell you all the reasons why it didn't happen. Not here, all the staff at Lakeside treat you well, welcome you and your business and perform the repairs like you want.
On a recommendation by some Corvette parts guys in the area, I took my 1954 Corvette to Lakeside Auto to have my windshield replaced and the car tuned up. Scott assured me that he could do the work.
I delivered the car on 8/29/16. A month later Scott called me to give me an update and next steps as the car was not running yet. The bill was up to $1,100 and he had no idea how much it would cost to complete but said that he'd give me another update soon. From that point, the car sat, gathering dust and debris, convertible top unlatched and hanging over the deck lid. A couple of blankets were laid over the car covering about 60%.
I stopped in around mid-November and still nothing more had been done. The windshield had been delivered 11/10/16. Scott told me that he had another project come in and proceeded to show me that. He said that he might need to charge me extra for the windshield if it was more difficult than he thought but he would start it "next week" and let me know. I said that I guess I'll wait to hear from you then. I again walked around the car now completely covered in dust and debris and tools, manuals and parts from the car in the next bay resting on the blankets on top of my car. I was extremely annoyed but bit my lip and waited. I could not believe the lack of care and flippant attitude they had. Who treats their customer's cars like this, let alone a 1954 Corvette?
On 12/22/16, after more waiting over another month, I stopped in again because I hadn't heard from Scott after my last visit as he committed. When I walked in, he immediately said "yeah, I haven't touched it." No apologies, no explanation, nothing. I asked what the issue was and he looked at me with a "how dare you question me" type look. He flippantly mentioned something about being busy with other clients cars. I asked if I could walk back and take a look. This time, he at least had a car cover over the car. Unfortunately, the dust, soot, and debris were still covering the car and the books etc were still on the hood. I noticed that the convertible top was still partially down/up and lifted the car cover to find two chips/gouges in the paint from the top's latches not being secured.
I finally addressed the chips in the paint as well as the lack of work and care shown to the vehicle. Scott's response to me was "I think it's time for this car to go." I didn't think I herd him correctly so I asked him what he meant and again he responded with "I think you need to get this car out of here." I was shocked at the lack of professionalism and the inability of this guys ego to allow him to respectfully address a customer's concern.
Needless to say, I had a flat-bed to Lakeside Auto within an hour and removed my car from their shop. As if this wan't bad enough already, I asked Scott about loading up the new windshield that was delivered to Lakeside Auto and he said "I can't give that to you now." I asked what he meant and he told me that he took it to his house but that he'd have it there for me to pick up the next day. I was and still am in shock that a business that seemed to come so highly rated would conduct themselves like this.

Scott was recommended, to the company I work for, by a fellow employee, to service our fleet vehicles. I've been extremely satisfied with the service I've received on the company vehicles. I started using Lakeside for service on my personal vehicle as well.
The guys here did a awesome job on my 81 formula firebird the changed my heads and stearing box timed my engine had my car back quickly they did wonderful job I will definitely keep using them

I took my 1994 Corvette there for the whole time I owned it,15 years. When I bought the car in 1999 I went to ZIP Products and asked who is the best person to get to work on it. First thing they said was Lakeside Auto. After that nobody else touched my Corvette but them. The only reason I still don't go there is I sold the 94 Corvette and bought a 2014 Stingray so I go to the dealer, no offense guys. I really do miss Scott and Paul . Its nice to know who's working on your pride and joy personally.

Highly recommend them. Our family has used Lakeside Auto since we have lived in Virginia. They are the most honest and trust worthy mechanics around. Which is a rare find now a days.
We just moved to Richmond and our car started making funny noises before a road trip. I stopped by at lunch time before a holiday weekend and someone immediately helped me. He quickly diagnosed the problem, fixed it and with no charge (it was an easy fix), I was on my way! I will definitely be using these guys as our go to mechanics from now on. Thank you!!
These guys were great. My car suddenly needed repairs while I was driving through Richmond (a town I have no familiarity of) and I was up a creek. Lakeside worked me in first thing in the morning and had the diagnosis & repair completed in less than an hour. Their prices were reasonable, and they didn't try to screw me or upcharge. It's nice to feel like you trust these people when you are stranded, like I was. I would use them for EVERY repair if I was in the area.
They are professional, very personal, reasonable, and trustworthy.
I just had break work done on my car by the guys at Lakeside Auto. I have been using them for years and each time I walk away saying 'what a great mechanic I have!' They are honest, efficient and helpful. I have often found that hard to find in an auto shop. I moved away from the neighborhood 5 years ago, but continue to see them because a good mechanic is hard to find.
