I come from the south eastern part of Long Island to shop here , the food is great and the prices are worth every penny spent. This location is a gem to the Bronx. The food is fresh and the meats are not too expensive. I would recommend going there if you can. You won’t believe it but it’s worth it.
While at the register ANGELIQUE was displaying negativity and I proceeded to explain to her why she’s very important. She could never know what someone is going through and her attitude towards them could send someone over the edge and possible suicide. Not only did she keep the same attitude but proceeded to tell me she wants to continue with her line.
I am deeply shocked by the treatment I received at this supermarket today. One of the staff members treated me with clear prejudice and disgusting facial expressions, solely because I am African. This kind of blatant racism and discrimination is unacceptable and unprofessional. No customer should ever be made to feel unwelcome or insulted because of their race. I will never step foot in this establishment again and will be sharing this experience with my community. By the way it was on counter 4 Her name was Alicia Hicks
Western beef is an excellent restaurant out here in the South Bronx prospect avenue here in the Bronx yes it helped the poor people kind of high and prices for the help poor people
Good supermarket with a wide variety of products and reasonable prices. The store is clean and well organized, making shopping quick and easy. The staff is friendly and helpful when needed. Overall, a good option for everyday shopping
It's wheels chair accessible. Has a nice large free parking area. Large selection of ethnic foods, a deli and butcher shop as well. Also have fresh vegetables and fruits. As with all other supermarkets, prices although going up, prices are still lower than a grocery store and Bodega.
Western beef is too expensive. You get better deals going to Stop and Shop or even Shoprite. Western beef has hood prices. You live in a community where it's poor but the prices in the supermarket are outrageous. Sad
Great Western Beef in the Bronx. It's in a shopping center with a Dunkin and Dollar General. High quality meat department with a butcher on duty who is always more than happy to help with slicing, cubing meats. Buying in bulk is the way to go to save a dollar. Fresh Italian bread and bakery department. This western beef always has great variety with their produce and grocery selection.
Right now Western Beef is rolling out all their deals and signs. Their inventory is fully stocked. I bought turkey wings for $21 chicken legs and thighs for $7 and country ribs and pork chops for $13. Along with some essentials and spent $70.
The deli meat spoils rather quickly the chicken sometimes smells heavily of bleach.the fresh bread section is great but some people dont use the bread grabber and use their hands eventhough is well stocked the prices are high for a low income middle income community. They should lower the prices for the standard they have on the food and items or close down completely
-some good to amazing sale prices (2 hot dogs ready to eat HOT for 1 dollar!!), at times, the better deals require a minimum $40 purchase, but most retail items are very expensive for south bronx, it's like manhattan midtown pricing -good store hours -location accessible by most mass transit (bus stops right in front) -very large parking lot (at least 100 cars can fit) -large amount of variety of foods -a dedicated huge section of only meats and fish in the back with its own dept. -ready to eat items available at the deli including rotisserrie chicken for $9 which is a great value
DO NOT BUY MEAT, RAW VEGGIES OR FRUITS FROM HERE!!! It seems that every time I come to western beef there is mold on something. I also opened this pack of chicken today and it’s greenish with a very bad smell that is intolerable. By far the worst supermarket ever. Customer service is terrible, one worker was very unprofessional and thought it was okay to snatch groceries out my hand thinking it belonged to another customer but I had my receipt to show proof. I’ve been noticing how sick I’ve been getting lately due to the food I’ve been buying here. Never will shop here again and neither should y'all.
Something going on with the meat section because for the past couple of months my meat been tasting like the smell of fabuloso or mistolin floor cleaners. Yes you read it rite there's no other way to word it. It taste like the smell of cleaning products. I don't even use fabuloso or mistolin. I just know how it smells. But my chicken and beef and pork all taste like it. Please investigate because they raising prices and doing stuff to the meat. Why does it taste that way even after being cleaned with vinegar and cooked.
Alot of food options... but here's the kicker, on several occasions I came home with spoiled food, way over the expiration date. Very disappointing, because I would have really loved this Supermarket. They have a large selection and variety
Going in store is fine however I called today 10/4/24 and who ever answered the phone at this location is very rude. Before I even had a chance to say anything she said I can’t hear you well and hung up. Not once but twice. Like if you don’t like ya job then maybe customer service isn’t for you. Please do better.
I really love this supermarket. It has bee around a long time. I know I can find good meats and a great bakery section, also a wide variety in the produce, limited but mixed cultural options available. You go in for one thing and leave with a bag or two. No complaints here.
First time shopper and the security guard accused me of stealing my entire bag of groceries as I'm reviewing my receipt by the exit. Never been more appalled in my life! And honestly as much as I didn't want it to ruin my day it did. Your loss prevention crew needs to do better, and I'm never shopping here again.
I've only been to this Western Beef once and I was very impressed. Very well stocked and everything is very neatly arranged and they had great sale items. If I'm ever in the area and I need a place to shop I will definitely stop at this Western Beef again.
Cashiers are very lazy. When you ask them kindly to pack they are so rude and say that’s not their job to pack the items on the bag. I told one of the manager and she just acted like nothing happen. I have been loyal customer for 10 year but I guess they don’t value their customers. I won’t be returning here any more. And be careful when you buy here because the constantly have expire items on the shelf.
I've haven't been there in a while, but the store looks splendid. Excellent parking area with a small strip mall. They have such a large selection of items. What I love is that as soon as you walk in they have a large display of fruits and vegetables. Even though the prices are a little high. Oh yes, the staff was very helpful to me.
Loving that they are upping their vegan items up but they're still too expensive for my taste just cuz it being labeled "vegan"... but I still go to get my cultural/international foods at an okay price.
It's Christmas eve, and as expected this location is very busy. The shelves are being replenished as they are emptied, & all hands are on deck. The only issue is the lack of check out registers. It is aggravating to wait upwards of 20 to 30 minutes to check out. The lady that checked me out greeted me with a smile, and carried a short pleasant conversation despite seeming to be very overwhelmed. I understand that companies are cutting back due to covid, but I think that during busy holiday seasons, all registers should be open to accommodate the customers as well as the employees. Other than that, I shop here rather often because its well organized and I know where to locate everything.
No stars this supermarket should be stripped of there wic license i came in to get wic sor my babies whom have certain allergies but eat the honey bunches of oats to which a jose gonzalez alledgedly a store manager denied me the purchase of this cereal which is the only cereal my daughters eat. A female line manager called a boss at home whom i was given the phone to speak to and i was told i could have upon my producing a book from wic which proved i was right at the register this jose gonzalez made a scene in front of other shoppers and i requested he give me his full info so that i can notify wic of his denying me the items that are on wic. Not professional he has a personal issue with me from other westernbeef located under westchester train station.
The place is neat and clean. Most of the staffs are very friendly. However, I also faced some staffs who are the opposite. Overall, a good place to buy groceries. They also have a takeout section. You can buy delicious meals from here, costs $4.99.
