Today my baby girls dream came true with her first "big girl" piece of Jewelry found at behind the iron gates! The staff was so helpful and patient whilst she tried on all the options. I've been twice and both times I have left very happy! I look forward to what treasures we find next time :)

This is such a great antiques shop really great selection of jewelry and overall stuff.. Lots of things and all clean and displayed - Whole Victorian house is open to shop through. Have been going here for over 20 years. The owner is a welcoming lady. Recently I bought this stained glass lamp. Love it! Love the place! A must go for antiques and jewelry collectors.

Old lady made a very snarky rude comment about rings my wife was looking at, I jokingly told her to try on some disgusting looking ring to be funny and she made a comment about buying such a cheap ring. I guess she didn’t notice the 3 different diamond rings she had on. Newsflash, people collect jewelry. Don’t shop here, old woman is miserable and doesn’t want your business. My wife wanted to buy one of the diamond and gold banded rings but told me she didn’t want to support someone who is like that.

Wonderful little antique shop! So many things to look at and pick from and from what I’ve seen the prices aren’t too bad at all! The owners are very lovely and sweet. It’s also a beautiful building to look at.

I love this place. I would bring anyone here that likes antiques or vintage items and is also spatially aware! This place is packed with treasures and it’s truly like opening a portal to the past. The women who own the store are also welcoming and helpful! If you’re in Syracuse, I recommend.

Amazing!! The person behind the counter was friendly, and detailed the different ways to tell real from fake valuables. The overall atmosphere was beautiful and nostalgic. Highly recommend this place!!

Stopped in to check out this gem I heard so much about in CNY. I had trouble as you cannot enter via front door. Finally found my way in as I noticed someone leaving out side door. There was a woman behind counter speaking to younger lady employee. Idk if she is owner but The way she spoke to her gave me second hand embarrassment. Very passive aggressive, condescending and sadly so unprofessional!!! I cannot imagine working for someone like this!!! I don’t think I will ever visit this establishment again! Sad because it seems like a beautiful place, however the employee drama put a bad taste in my mouth! I was asked rudely “did you need something?” No, no thank you. I will not spend my hard earned money where there is no respect for customer! I hope that young lady finds her worth as well as a new employer as I felt so horrible for her in this situation.

Selma was very friendly and welcoming. She gave me a great deal on a couple of antique lamps that are extremely hard to find. Highly recommend visiting this antique store.

The store is dangerously overcrowded and it’s virtually impossible to walk through without knocking into things. There are accusatory signs everywhere warning people about breaking stuff. An employee was smoking in the doorway and the building was full of the smell. We left quickly because the atmosphere was claustrophobic and the staff vibe was unwelcoming.

Don’t anybody sell gold to behind the iron gates on West Genesee? I just went there with an eight karat 14 and 18 karat ring and she offered me 250. I went over to Pond King and they gave me $800. Don’t go there she’ll rip you off and she know she ripped me off previously, I am sold to 24 karat gold bars and she ripped me off on those. I know she did. I could’ve got at least 2000 more dollars and I’ve gotten anybody if you see the review go there go to said she gave me 35 pennyweights on the 18 karat gold ring and pawn king said it wasn’t even 35 pennyweights . I don’t even want to give any stars at all, but I have to give one to post this

I love going there for all my jewelry needs. They truly do their best to make sure you are happy with your pieces. Such a wide an unique collection. Definitely check out behind the iron gates!

I had a really disappointing experience at Behind the Iron Gates Antique Store. Firstly, everything was overpriced, making it impossible to find a good deal. The store was also so crowded that I felt overwhelmed and claustrophobic, which made browsing unpleasant. To top it off, I noticed the owner knowingly sold a piece I liked at an inflated price, despite it being slightly damaged. Definitely not a store I'd recommend.

Behind The Iron Gates is a very nice place they have alot of unique items for everyone the lady's were very helpful I bought some coins from them my wife and I and my sister and brother in-law loved every minute lots to look at...

It always makes my day to be able to peek in at "Behind The Iron Gates". It is the very best place to meander through so many rooms upstairs and down that are quite literally packed full of all kinds of treasures from days gone by (at reasonable prices.) On my recent visit, I could not resist purchasing some old glass Christmas ornaments.  Then, to my surprise, didn't my sister show up with several more... absolutely beautiful ornaments for my birthday.  Needless to say, a tree I had planned to decorate with glitter and bling, got a complete new (old) makeover.  Then I needed a tree topper.  Once again I reached out to Selma.  She and her employees located a couple very old toppers in pristine condition-still in its original box. Perfect!!! ALL of these ornaments were in this beautiful Victorian Home, "Behind The Iron Gates" just waiting and wanting for another to cherish them. You will find that "something special, one-of-a-kind" piece there, too. Although I do not get a chance to visit much, it is the top of my list for Antiques, vintage, collectibles, and especially warm welcomes, kind hearts, and exceptional service.  A huge Thank You to Selma and her staff; they are amazing!!! Me and one of my girlfriends LOVE this store and Selma is amazing! We always leave with lots of goodies. They treat us like family and we always have a fun time shopping! If you are looking for something in particular, Selma will take your name and number and call you if she finds it! Syracuse is lucky to have a store like this and such a sweet business owner!

This is the most beautiful antique store in the Syracuse/Upstate NY area. The rooms are filled to the brim with the most unique pieces you’ve ever seen. The sweet staff is always so kind, friendly and they have best attitudes of professionalism. They are more than willing to show you around the shop to the different themed rooms they have. They will help you find exactly what you are looking for. Behind the Iron Gates truly has it all. I will be back for more treasures!!

First time here , and Really bed experience !Coming with Smile and say hi ,told to the lady behind the counter, Mention I’m the first time here. She is like no smile try to Ignore me. I am the only one customer in the store, When I try to go around, she is coming told me to put my bag in the Front . ( I have my small bag in the hand ) Totally understand in the first. But when I finished shopping, find out the other customer is in the store with Big bag in her shoulder. They explained she is the Cousin of owner, but I know this is not true, I heard they talk when the customer coming to the store!! The staffs in the store ruins my whole day! I am not sure if it’s because I am Chinese or they just do not like Asian people. Never coming again!

Selma & Staff have spent 19 years seeking quality merchandise from silver & crystal to jewelry & wall art, vintage quilts, dolls & clothing & much more - surprisingly at very reasonable prices. What makes it even more unique is the outstanding service. They listen to exactly what you are looking for & help you find the perfect treasure that will be loved for years to come. We will definitely be frequent visitors to this ever changing antique paradise.

My fiance and I checked out this little gem on 3/26/2022, I'm a huge fan of antiques and this place is definitely not short on any amazing finds! The house itself is gorgeous and the variety of antiques is outstanding. The owners themselves are very lovely and were a pleasure to chat with too!

This place is packed to the gills! Very tight isles so not a place to bring children. I had my dog in a backpack carrier so I decided to return another time without him so as not to knock anything over. In the short time I was there I saw large collections of jewelry, children's toys , and kitchen ware, and that was just a couple of the rooms in this old victorian house FULL of antiques. The owner, Selma, will give you a list of items that she might buy if you are interested in selling.

Very cool place and amazing service! Stopped in today to look for 1920's jewelry to wear to a special event. Not only did I find exactly what I was looking for but Selma and the ladies to time to ensure the vintage piece would complement my dress perfectly! I will return again to purchase one of the many treasures that are throughout the store.

This place is amazing and I love everything about it . if you're looking for a treasure this is the place if you're looking for jewelry gold silver diamonds precious stones once again this is the place their prices can't be beat anywhere and on top of it all it's a treasure and of history. This place is more than amazing. The owner Selma and the other lovely women who work here were phenomenal in helping me find exactly what I was looking for and more. I walked in not knowing what to expect and left in tears of joy, literally. They gave me such a great surprise when they gifted me my item as a Merry Christmas. I was beyond shocked that there are still people out there in the world with hearts more golden than the beautiful jewelry they sell inside! I will be going back for sure, and to anyone looking for something unique and special, do not shop online, just go Behind The Iron Gates and you will be amazed at what's inside. Thank You Selma. I'm a long time, weekly shopper at this amazing store, buying for my business. There is a constant stream of fresh items coming in daily; it's very clean and well organized; obviously prices are good since I buy to resell. But best of all is the endless patience and compassion with which the owner treats everyone. I have seen her, week after week, handle dealing with people selling personal and family items, and she takes her time with them, and treats them all with dignity, and kindness, and professionality. Stopping in here has become one of the best parts of my week, and I never leave empty handed. I'd recommend this store to anyone, it's a wonderful little trip.

I have gone into this Antique Shop on multiple occasions, and I highly recommend it. Every time I go I find something new she gets many new treasures in everyday. They have a vast amount of treasures for any type of collector. The owner, Selma is the one of the hardest working, most caring and trusting women I know. She always has a smile on her face and is always a pleasure to deal with. Her friendly personality makes you feel at ease wether you are buying or selling. I sold her my US currency collection that I have been collecting since I was a young child. Selma was very experienced, very knowledgeable and gave me a very fair price. I was very pleased with the price she offered me. I highly recommend you stopping in for a pleasurable experience.
