Larry and his crew do great work. Had one vehicle go in and came out look brand new at a great price. He handled everything perfectly and now he will be taking care of my second vehicle. Highly recommend.

These guys are the most honest, fairest, most professional mechanics in Syracuse by far!! I'll start with my first interaction with them my tire was losing air, I called them at 4:45 PM. Guy told me they close at 5 but I couldn't make it till 6. He WAITED for me to get out of work and fixed my tire and then didn't even charge me since he was able to fix just by wiggling the air release thing on the valve. Since then, I've gone there several times. Firestone quote me $2,000 to fix power steering about a year ago, these guys did it for $800. Monroe Muffler quoted me $880 for rear brakes, these guys did it for $400. These other places try to make you fix stuff that isn't even broke just so they can get more revenue. These guys will tell you if they think your calipers are okay and probably don't need to be replaced. If you're taking a risk that they may go in a year and cost more money, they'll give you their best and honest opinion and let you decide (as opposed to the other places who refuse to touch it unless you fix everything that has even a 1% chance of going). I love that about that about them as I'm someone who hates wasting money!

This really sucks, I don’t like leaving a bad review but my trust is broken and i don’t want to come back. I came in to get my tires changed for the winter and asked for them to check on my steering wheel as to why my horn wasn’t working. Tires were changed, and told me it would be another 400 dollars to get a replacement spring. 200 for the part and another for labor. I found the part i need for my car online for $12…. $400 feels unreasonable for a spring in a steering wheel…. A week or two goes by and my tire is leaking air. It was a slow leak and got worse when driving. I kept pumping it with air since i had no idea. Couple days passed when i wasn’t using my car and suddenly i have a flat. i had a technician look at it and says that whoever put my tires on may have broken the valve stem during the tire swap. I called Walts to ask what they can do about it and they told me that the valves shouldn’t have been touched and that i could come back and fix it but have to wait a week or two. This whole situation has left me stressed with no resolution or even an attempt to make things better. really bummed out :/ edit: I had someone from Walt’s call me and he was apologetic about the experience. Obviously would love to have this kind of customer service when i called the first time but i do appreciate the attempt to make things better and to address my concerns from the outcome of my last experience with them. It was very professional. I wish much luck to this company, thanks.

I was visiting from out of town and needed to have someone look at my car after hitting a deer. They squeezed me in and completed a temporary repair to get me home. In under an hour I was on the road again. Thanks.

Driving through from Cleveland and check engine light started flashing. Found them on a whim and explained our situation. They were full that day but let us drop in, squeezed us in immediately and had our problem figured out and car fixed within a few hours and I was back on the road. Beyond grateful.

On our way to Canada for vacation and had brake trouble. They were able to fit us in, get parts and get us back on the road on a little over 2 hours. Can’t thank them enough. !!

I have taken my car here a couple times and they always do fantastic work. I was driving my car a hour away before to someone I could trust until i tried walt’s and they truly are there for their customers. if you’re a woman and trying to find a reliable shop that won’t try and screw you over because you’re a woman, this is it. they truly just want to give you the best service and make sure you leave happy. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. also huge shout out to Larry for taking care of me after i recently got into an accident. he empathized with me and truly helped someone in an awful situation. I didn’t cry when i crashed my car, but i did cry at the kindness of him and helping me through it all.

I cannot say enough good things about Walt’s. My boyfriend brought his truck here for a body repair and they did such a great job and got it done fast. When I hit a deer with my car I knew I had to go back to them. Lary is absolutely wonderful. So friendly and super helpful dealing with insurance companies and speeding things along. When insurance totaled the car he cleaned everything out of the car for me and made the process so easy. It’s a very clean and nice facility and everyone that works here is so kind! Definitely recommend for anyone with automotive needs. Thanks Lary!

I cannot say enough good things about Walt’s. We’ve been coming here for almost 10 years, and today they provided automotive service and support unheard of in 2025. After multiple attempts to repair my vehicle at a local dealership service center, the only reason being the vehicle was under warranty, and dramatically failing, Walt’s was able to get us in quickly, diagnose the problem, and help us with a plan to get the repair done. As always, they were kind, honest, and direct about the issues and cost. I would rather pay for their work than work with a dealership and repairs under warranty. This is where you want to bring your vehicle, from the work they do, to the people they are.

Do NOT bring a car here to be checked out before buying it! I was in the process of buying a used car and brought it here for a general inspection. Whether or not I bought the car largely came down to how this shop rated the safety and longevity of the vehicle. The guy said there was a little rust on the bottom, but the frame was solid and the car could last years if well maintained. I told him I planned to drive cross country in it and he said he didn't see anything that would cause a problem. I bought the car. I took it in to the dealership for state inspection and they said it can't pass inspection due to the amount of rust and a significant rusty hole on the bottom. No way to fix it. How these guys at Walt's missed such an obvious issue is beyond me and it should be very concerning to anyone who brings their car here. I either paid them for incompetence or to be lied to.

I would give zero stars if possible. Walt's performed repairs they never mentioned to me and made me pay in full despite the fact that I wasn't told about them or could approve of. Additionally, they did not fix the actual reason I came into the shop for. Instead, I was charged labor to tell me exactly what I already knew when I understood that they would be repairing it. The estimate I was given was hundreds lower than the amount I was forced to pay when I picked up the vehicle. Which they were also three hours late to finishing the job from what I was told.

I cannot say enough great things about Walt’s Auto and the incredible team behind it—especially Larry and Claud! Brought my vehicle there with check engine light on after one of the well known chain auto services said it was too dangerous to drive and it would be $5000+ of work and parts to fix it and chain store charged me $200+ for the diagnostics. Walt's assessment...Turned out there was not anything wrong with my vehicle. Just the check engine light got triggered and needed to be reset. Been driving it a few months now with no problems. Thank you. Walt's mechanics are smart and honest!

I’m really sad that I had the experience that I did in this few minutes. I’ve never been there before and pulled in to drop off. I attempted to jump out and ask where to park because it was very limited. I wasn’t going to leave my car diagonal in the middle of the lot. The man who came out treated me like an idiot and was very rude. I drove away. I don’t need to or deserve to be treated poorly. I can spend my money elsewhere.

Such an amazing and honest shop to take your vehicle to! They did an amazing job on my mom’s Acura and they NEVER try to scam you! They always keep you up to date on what is going on with your vehicle and Claude is the best!!! Highly recommend!!! Angela Bordack Sherrie Bordack

I wouldn’t ever entertain the idea of taking my car anywhere else because I know I could never find this level of customer service and automotive knowledge/ expertise anywhere else! My whole family has been taking our cars to Walt’s since before I could drive! I know nothing about cars other than the basics of how to keep my car nice. I trust the people at Walt’s with my life, as I take my car there for all of its needs. On top of that, most recently my car was vandalized and Larry helped me through the whole insurance process, worked with my insurance company, and talked me through everything so that I could understand what was going on. I truly felt like through the whole ordeal he had my best interest at heart and took care of me and my car as he would his own daughter. I know some of the staff by name and they always remember me and are so kind whenever I call to schedule a car need. The whole Walt’s staff are amazing and kind people who truly have your back.

Definitely recommend for any type of detail work! Love coming here to get the interior of my Jeep cleaned. They do a thorough job and have great customer service!

Called Walt after calling 12 other mechanics trying to get my wife's car in to get checked out. Walt asked details about the problem and suggested we bring it to the dealer because the repair should be fully covered under warranty. No other shop that we called suggested this. Walt was correct and the repair was fully covered under warranty. The repair would have been $3,700 but we paid zero thanks to Walt's shop's suggestion. You don't see integrity like this anymore. Will bring our cars here from now on for everything.

Walt’s is great. I’ve been using them the past few years for oil changes and general maintenance for my car. I recently got hit and my front bumper and fender needed to be replaced. Walt’s fixed it in the estimated timeframe, provided me a rental, and communicated with the insurance company. My car looks brand new, thanks Larry!

Took my Jeep to Walt's for the first time this week and am more than happy with the communication and service provided. I provided a bit of a laundry list of issues/routine maintenance I thought was needed and after inspection the shop went over with me what did/didn't need repair/replacing and why. Other less trustworthy shops may have taken me for a few more bucks and I would have been none the wiser. Very happy with the work done; it drives just like it did when I bought it years ago. Everyone I spoke with was polite and kind. Definitely plan on returning in the future when my wife and I need our vehicles serviced!

I visited Walt's Automotive Service on March 20th for a pre-purchase inspection. While the staff was friendly and the process was quick, I was extremely disappointed with the service I received. The mechanic who checked the car failed to seal the hood after inspecting it, which was incredibly dangerous as I only realized it was open while driving on the highway. This was a major oversight that could have resulted in a serious accident. To make matters worse, recently I discovered that the car had worn engine mounts after driving 200 miles and, which was the whole point of the inspection. I feel misled and frustrated that the inspection failed to identify this issue, which could have been prevented with a proper check. It's clear that the level of professionalism that I once appreciated at Walt's has taken a sharp decline. I hope this review helps others avoid similar situations and encourages Walt's to take the necessary steps to improve their services and prevent future oversights that could put customers' safety at risk. P.S: Upon further reflection, I want to acknowledge that the staff at this place approached my criticism fairly and with professionalism. I appreciate their honesty and respectfulness in their communication with customers. As a result, I have decided to adjust my rating from 1 star to 4 stars to give credit to their professional attitude. While my original review will still serve as a reference, I believe it's important to recognize when a business takes customer feedback seriously and makes efforts to improve. It's important to give credit where credit is due.

I needed some minor body repair work done to my car. Larry Z was phenomenal. Kind, professional, accommodating. Communication through the entire process was spot on. I showed up today to a repaired car that looked better and is a LOT cleaner than what was left with them last week. They even provided me with a zippy, cute Honda Civic as a loaner for the week. I highly recommend Walt’s for all of your automotive needs.

Took my car in for the first time today and I will definitely be coming back for any and all future auto repair/servicing needs! Everyone I spoke to was extremely friendly and helpful. They did great work on my car and the price was amazing. They're extremely upfront and honest and will give you the absolute best price they can. I can't recommend them enough. We are from Ottawa Canada and were on our way to West Virginia. We had a problem with our wheel bearings and were calling ahead to Syracuse to try to get someone to fit us in. Walt's was the only place in town that agreed to take us and when we got there it was clear that they didn't do it because they were short of work. The place was packed. Surprisingly, not only did they fit us in, but they took a look at our van right away. Super impressed with how they did the testing to diagnose and confirm the problem. Everybody, from the mechanics to the desk staff, was sincerely friendly and the place was extremely service-oriented. They obviously took pride in their level of service and customer satisfaction. In the end they were able to make the repair in a little over an hour and at a very decent price. Thank you to all the folks there! I really wish I lived closer to Syracuse so I could take my car problems to Walt's. As it stands, I am even considering driving the 3 and a half hours when I have a major car repair just so that I can go to a place that I can trust and that provides that level of service. If you live close to Syracuse you probably already know of this place, but if you don't, I obviously highly recommend it. PS The BBQ place (Dino BBQ) across the street is a fantastic place to wait for your car to be fixed as well! Given the great service at Walts and the great food at Dino's we felt we had the best possible outcome of a bad situation!

Not much to say about Walt's but what I do have to say is positive. Got my inspection done here. Called to check availability and they made time for me that very day. Service was quick and staff members were courteous. I got my inspection done at a fair price and didn't have to wait around all day to have it done. No complaints here! I'd go back for other car services if I needed them.
