Great spot to dispose of cardboard boxes, shredded paper, aluminum cans, plastic bottles, metals, magazines, there is a donation truck (houseware items, shoes, books, clothing,etc).
Drive in, park, YOU unload + sort items in their designated bins. Very easy to sort what goes where, they have signs on all container’s.
Completely the worst experience I've ever had to deal with. many times I've come here managers just don't care and don't want to talk to anybody or help unload. my mother went earlier today website clearly says open till 5pm and of course they were closed 3 other cars were there trying to get the managers attention he just turns his back without saying a word to anyone being very disrespectful and dismissive. Then after a couple of moments there was a women that came up and for some reason he let her in the exit only and then proceeded to keep the main gates closed and did not give any explanation to people.
The hours listed on their website are incorrect. They do not open at 8 AM. I’ve been sitting in my car for over 20 minutes watching people work inside the gate while it is closed. They don’t open at 8 AM! They need to change their website to reflect the actual opening time.
I come here about every week with maybe a garbage bag or two filled with aluminum beer cans and it's so easy to put them in the bins. At the end of the month I like to bring my spirits and wine bottles but it's not too tall so I don't need to individually take them out because that'd take like 4 or 5 hours, I can just dump theboxes I had, go back to my house, grab the rest, and then dump the last fex storage containers in under an hour.
Easy to use recycle center. Well labeled bins for different types of recyclable materials. Pay attention to their hours of operation. They are closed on Sundays and Wednesdays.
Perfect place to recycle - they accept #1 and #2 plastic bottles, cardboard/brown paper, scrap metal, large items not containing Freon (ovens, dishwashers, etc) aluminum cans, various electronics (like cords, microwaves, laptops, phones, ink cartridges, etc) office/newspaper, cooking oil, magazines, and food grade glass bottles/containers for their main free recycling items.
However, they also accept books, donations for the American Kidney Fund, and durable medical equipment (which goes to FODAC via Sandy Springs Rotary Club) as well.
If you’re a Sandy Springs or Johns Creek resident, they’ll take items with Freon, TV’s and computer monitors, printers, fluorescent lightbulbs and tubes, smoke detectors, and items with mercury for a fee.
Document shredding is available to anyone for $1/pound.
Everyone there is polite and they often have community service workers there to help offload heavier items.
It’s a great place to do your everyday recycling to help keep our world a better place!
Great no hassle place to recycle ♻️. I had tons of cardboard that I folded and placed in the mobile bins. They also take other items check the website for details
For the last three years, I've been dropping off recycling to this center and it has always been run smoothly. Today, there was an unexpected issue that came up and Ryder Leary, the executive director, could not have been more helpful and gracious. Incredibly friendly service and willingness to help!
Getting real picky about what types of #1 plastics that are acceptable. Closed on Wednesdays. Closed early on summer days when there are many hours of light left.
Dealt with the rudest woman at the window. Incredibly condescending and dismissive. I had never been and asked about possible payment, or documents to prove I live in Sandy Springs. I got a nasty response as if I shouldn’t have asked the question! Don’t have questions here, or just hope you don’t get her to “help” you. I’ll be coming back bc it’s free, but I’ll stay silent next time. Had tattoos if that helps stay away
Edit: management responded and provided a transcript. Which will show how cordial I was and confused. What isn’t captured is her tone and attitude which, despite management calling me a liar, was condescending and rude. Good day everyone
I bring cardboard boxes from work all the time here; best to have it sorted. They have a one way in and one way out to make it easier. They take #1 and #2 type plastic narrow neck containers without caps; aluminum cans, newspaper, shredded office paper, electronics, steel cans, office paper, glass, etc. As always, things should be cleaned to help the volunteers who help run this place. They don’t accept plastic bags or other types of plastics or styrofoam. The stuff I bring is small compared to the amount of cardboard we send to the dumpster, but at least I feel a little hopeful with a great recycling place like this. They are closed Wednesdays and sundays
Volunteers : You will regret it! Kathy “one of the owners” is VERY RUDE!! This place advertises to “make Sandy Springs beautiful” but her crude and condescending behavior towards the volunteers is unacceptable. She would never show this in-front of the Sandy Springs residents, of course. The unsafe and subpar nature of this establishment should be looked into by the city. In which I will strongly recommend and pursue, heavily and immediately!
They recycle just about everything recyclable. Friendly volunteers are always willing to help unload your goods and help sort. Note they no longer accept plastic bags/film; you’ll have to use drop boxes at grocery stores.
They only accept recyclable materials if you are a Sandy Springs resident. Was very upset to learn that they are not more accommodating. I am trying to be responsible and recycle my material, but may just throw it away now.
This place is AWESOME and so convenient. I’m looking forward to their growth and hoping they will be able to expand and accept more recyclables in the future. Keep up the terrific work y’all do to keep Sandy Springs and North Fulton beautiful!
This is one of the few recycling centers that accept all common wastes a standard household would have in one stop. Their employees/volunteers are also amazing. They would help you and guide you to figure out where to put your items. It helps if you have everything sorted before you go there. I usually make a trip every couple months and I am in and out in less than 10 mins if I don’t have to wait for a parking spot. Saturdays are usually busy so I try to go during week days. Also they adhere to all reasonable covid guidelines. Please wear a mask and stay 6 feet away from others whenever possible and you should be fine. I have seen that they even accept electronic waste at a fee which is also a great service that I haven’t used yet.
I went recycling last week for the first time. And this place is amazing for first timers. Everything is labeled and there's so many people out there helping if you need help figuring it out. I went Saturday so it was busy but it was expected and I didn't mind. It's better if you have all your recyclables sorted for easier process. I took a full trunk of recycling and it took me less than 10 minutes to do it all. I took glass, cardboard, #1 and #2 plastics, tin cans, plastic bags, aluminum cans. But they accept much more. It was a really nice experience and I'll definitely be back with more.
Great place to go and drop off all the stuff you need to recycle. My suggestion - just separate and keep everything segregated before you go there. Stop off at the parking lot, pick up your stuff and drop off at the huge boxes they have - all labelled nicely and cleanly. The guy working there was also helpful and nice.
Nothing to reflect on this place but just an observation - America should seriously be recycling more and making it easier to recycle and support recycling! Pathetic that you have to drag recyclable stuff to a recycling centre.
Ken and the guy's took good care of me! They took this massive tub of papers out my car for me. Weighed it in front of me. 110 pounds!! Crazy right..lol! They are really hard workers! Friendly, very helpful and appreciated their kindness.
Well organized place but a bit off the beaten path which makes it harder to combine trips. Special trips just to drop off recycling quickly become counterproductive. Also requires a lot of pre-sorting which would require a lot of space dedicated to recycling if done at home (so schedule some time to sort at the center):

On the upside, it feels as if most materials are actually being recycled, instead of just being shipped off to Africa or southeast Asia.
Not what it use to be! Once was a nice place to drop off recyclables any hour of the day. They have gone to closing gates (restricting access), the place looks like a dump when you go by during business hours trash EVERYWHERE, and recently I have noticed they have reduced access hours yet AGAIN. I am actively seeking another drop off location convenient to my location. I suspect this place will not be around much longer. SAD
Convenient to the area and well run recycling (often has special weekend for shredding or special large intake items). Peak times can be a little hectic, but the volunteers/workers are always courteous and helpful.
It's a convenient location if you live in Sandy Springs. You have to pay to recycle larger items like TVs, but it is easy to drop things off there. Just a little hard to find the person running it and not much parking.
