I went in for a endoscopy and was really scared. They constantly reassured me even after the procedure was done. All the staff were awesome

Having heart palpitations due to alcohol withdraw. I called waited 5 mins asked for ER that treats that near me and she said she doesn't know wait for a callback. I am not rich so I was hung up on right after the insurance question. I guess I'll be dying or having a seizure at home. Witnessed med staff making fun of a homeless guy overdosing and mental patients. Great encouraging behavior. Sorry I'm not rich. I noticed walking around helps my heart rate it I show signs of lv3 withdraw. Can't find help. I patient said wait til that's done then ask them for help lmaoo wow. Another sent me wic stuff and I'm a guy asking for alcohol treatment. Idk but I feel like they do t care and laugh at me when I finally die. I've been on the phone for 2 hours can't find any help not any advice for withdraw except a 988 line to givee the same info again Crisis line same info again. Just tell us you want us dead why dont you

Be careful if you're driving down here looking for the maternity building. At night the streets are not clearly marked I could not find street signs. Parking spaces are not clearly marked nor is the garage. If you park in the garage in this area there are no signs until you get to a corner.

My loved one had surgery here and there is a rounding surgical nurse who comes to speak with family and give updates on progress during the surgery which I felt was an excellent way to help the patients' loved ones through a difficult time! Much appreciated!

Had ovarian & uterine cancers. Had total hysterectomy. They were really good with me. Gentle, compassionate and very well skilled surgeons teaching surgeons. Didn’t scar me up too badly.

I was in room 5821 12/12/2025 after major surgery Itavia was my nurse that she was excellent how ever when I would hit the nurse call button at least 2 or 3 times I finally got ahold of whoever worked during day shift and a anthesologist named Matt was excellent and he came to check me out about swelling of arms I noticed the hallways were dirty also service was good though

My child has been trying ever since march to get gender affirming surgery and care from this facility and all you people have done has turned them away. Everybody has done nothing to help my child, my child has been waiting for two weeks for Erika or Jess to schedule them for surgery. I have stood by & watched Everybody gets treated and helped while my child suffers. Everybody says my child is being treated wrongly and we have lawyers as of now whom we are now collaborating with to bring legal action against INDIANA UNIVERSITY!!! The negligence, the abuse, the way doctor Amad coped a field and felt up my child just to turn them away from top surgery is beyond Bullshit! My child has done everything they are supposed to do and yet INDIANA UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL HAS FAILED! Now my child's reason for continuing is dimensioning...gender affirming surgery was my child's last chance at happiness in this horrible world & it was even taken from them because of a bad work environment and workers

I’m giving 5 stars to the outpatient surgery area I had surgery today 11/25/2025 the staff was really kind and paitent in the pre op room and the staff in the operating room was kind and making me feel comfortable and safe and making sure I was warm enough. I just wanna say thank you to to all the Surgery staff that did my IUD on Kailynn Hollers exspecially Dr Caldwell u was very nice. And with my autism and anxiety it hard for me in new places I’ve never been too can make me overwhelmed and I’m glad the surgery staff let me take two big comfort items of mine witch is my blanket and glasses THANKS SO MUCH UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL YALL DESERVE TO BE NUMBER 1 HOSPITAL IN THE STATE AND HAVE A 5 star rating for all reviews

Recently had a stay here and the nurses and the Techs are very caring and get things done in a quick manner and they act like they honestly care about my well being. I had a good stay and I feel so much better being back home..

My son had a colonoscopy today. The staff was caring. They were professional and answered all questions. Endo was extremely clean. I’m giving it four stars because the elevator was dirty. The no cash gate to get out could be a problem for anyone that might not have a credit card.

On barnhill Dr #210, Ms. Charlotte is the greatest! Always greet you with the biggest smile and joyful conversation in spite of why my husband is here for prostate… Her energy is so positive and welcoming! She is so awesome! Kudos to Ms Charlotte.

Hire people who care. 5% personal rest are a paycheck. Should be doing something else. Cleaning crew ,blood on wheels, kitchen staff overpaid. It tech person. Deliver mail. That way they know where information in your care is going. Two days and percription still in limbo.

IU Health University Hospital provides excellent care with professional staff, advanced facilities, and compassionate service. Patients feel supported throughout their treatment and recovery process.

I’m giving my experience 4 stars based on the care I received from the medical staff and the food, because that really was the entirety of my experience, as I got transferred to IU from a different hospital. Their food was actually amazing and tasted homecooked! They were also very fast and the food always got to me faster than the said it would. The nurses that I had most of the time were amazing. A couple of times I would have one that I felt wasn’t very fast or responsive or we didn’t really click, but I feel like that happens. I really connected with one of my nurses and she completely changed my experience there (shoutout Katie Weber!) which made up for the negative experiences for me. There were a couple of situations where I had pressed my button to ask for pain meds only to find out an hour and a half later that whoever took my message to tell my nurse never even told my nurse so that was really frustrating, because I had been waiting in pain that whole time. Within that hour and a half I also pressed the button again to ask again, but they still never told my nurse. So that’s something to look out for. But I would say at least 80% of the time I was happy with my experience.

Online bill payment processing is horrible. I have tried setting up an account and it won’t let me and also have tried using guest payment and it will not let me. I try calling the number for the automated payment and it states I have to call M-F during office hours. I guess if this “not for profit” organization wants my money they need it make it easier for us to make payments.

FIL went to Methodist ER because his doctors are there. They admitted him to University via ambulance. (How is this acceptable?) All staff are travelers or temps that aren't invested in the success of patient outcomes. Rarely saw staff or given updates. Didn't get taken out in a wheelchair on discharge from 6th floor. Had to get himself to the entrance without staff. Never seen such poor care. Reinforces the opinion that IU Health is the worst care in the state!

Very rude Ethiopian woman who cleans the rooms and restrooms. She is a poor reflection of the hospital staff on the ICU floors. ICU is a very sensitive place for families while their loved one is recovering. Please coach her or take her off the Kidney Transplant ICU floors.

On our way from vacation in Florida to home outside of Chicago, I began experiencing eye pain and realized I had a gray spot on my iris. I believed this to be a corneal ulcer which is an emergency. I walked into the hospital, was registered within three minutes, immediately triaged, then immediately taken back to be seen in the ER. Within five minutes, I was talking to a nurse, then a resident, then an ophthalmologist. The examination and service was so thorough, I was gobsmacked. Each person my family and I came into contact with was professional and compassionate. My family and I were sitting in our examination room for no more than ten minutes during our two hour stay without being tended to by medical staff. 10/10. Highly recommend.

Hope you like roaches in your room after having major surgery this place is a joke. I even changed my fiancé’s bedding after surgery and a pair of sharp surgical scissors fell out. Do better peoples lives are at stake!

My father has been here after removing partial part of his lung due to cancer. He had an afib episode yesterday and nobody on his chart was called. The staff doesn’t not come in and communicate with him or anyone. We come from a family where we understand that they have other patients and things going on, but even the room is dirty. He was moved to a bed out in the hallway and was completely exposed. What happen to privacy?? I’m just disappointed to say the least and worry.

Went here 2 times and stayed here for a week last month in May 2025 cause I had to. The only issue with this hospital is the service is kinda bad cause of short staff and nurses. They just need more nurses. Sometimes Had to wait at least 2 or 3 hours just for a nurse to show up to my room. Long wait times for nurses because there helping other patients. I was on 4th floor. My room number was 4819. Other than that all the Dr's was really nice and kind and explained everything really well witch I like. Also The nurses where really nice and kind too. I just love having conversations with nurses they just make my day better when I was in there. Tory was one of the nice nurses I had from 4th floor. The food was pretty good too depends on what u want or what your getting. The Dr's did a good job with my procedure. I had a ercp done where they put Fancy rubber bands around your esophagus in the liver part. Overall this is good hospital just needs More nurses. I kinda got used to the Cold. Most of the time had to keep asking for warm blankets.

I had plastic surgery at this hospital and everyone was genuinely so nice. They did seem busy and shortstaffed trying to take care of everyone, but they still did their best to take the time to care for me. They expected me to be out of the hospital by noon and I unfortunately didn't wake up until around 4pm, I believe, but they weren't rude about it. We were all joking around the whole time and they listened to me throughout the entire process. So grateful for my whole surgical team who made it an easy day!

My daughter had liver transplant. The doctors are good but tge nursing staff is to short handed to give proper care. The doctor said I needed to advocate for her which just gets me treated badly. They wont let ne get her up and didn't get in to take her to the bathroom. She soiled her self and sat in it for 10 minutes while people walked in and walked out. Being infection is a big deal for a liver transplant patient I do not believe this is a good thing. When I went out and said something I was told they had to chart something first but they would get to her. Very unacceptable in my book. Management if this hospital needs to get more people to take care of patients. If not then quit all the advertisements about how great they are. Not the case!!

It's a good hospital even though I wasn't the one going to get an appointment so I can really give a review It's still looks really good you can get parking in the parking garage which is connected to the hospital so you can just walk right over. When we were waiting we were able to get food and snacks

This is the worst experience I’ve ever had at a hospital. EVER….and I have a real good amount of experience. I will NEVER recommend this hospital to anyone ever, and I do not normally feel compelled to leave a review, but I have to share my experience in case it may help others. First off, I never received any communication on surgery pre op, just the date. No pre op mailings at all. So I really came into my cancer surgery uninformed. Not that big of a deal as I can figure stuff out, but I can’t imagine for someone who has trouble with that type of situation. Absolutely no information post operation from doctors or multiple residents I believe all had knowledge of my case….Obviously someone should follow up in a reasonable amount of time after a major surgery to inform me, right? Nope. Not a one doctor dealing with my case stopped by nor was I talked to by any doctor post op or on rounds. Still have not seen a doctor post op and it’s been 15 hours at least since my surgery. I also had a MRI post surgery but the resident who ordered it didn’t respond to whether I needed IV contrast or not…SO I MADE THE CALL and said yes which I believe was right, but still not sure. Then, they make you share a room….no communication or choice on this. I would have chose a different location if possible had I known this. I was in shock upon discovering this POST OP WITH MY FAMILY AS I WAS WHEELED IN…..I did have a very nice roommate though. So, as you try to sleep in pain the best you can, nurses and multiple other people going in and out of your room at all hours for someone else. Which is necessary for my roommate and I totally understand that. The picture below is my room at 2:14 am with door open for 5 minutes which woke me. Now it’s 2:22 am and I had to call the nurse back because no one is coming by to silence the alarm on my roommate’s machine! I also feel horrible for my roommate as well because he is awaken every time I get meds or checked. Absolutely terrible service. I also snore when I’m extremely sleep deprived so it can’t be relaxing for him either. Update at 4:00 am (second photo) - now they are stopping to take my vitals, which is normal and both staff are very nice…but instead of drawing my blood out of the IV already in place, they had to draw it from my arm because the one staff isn’t allowed to out of the IV, yet the nurse was with my roommate and could have? Weird. Plus, waking my roommate as lights had to be turned on for the draw. Do not have an inpatient surgery done here if you have a choice. This is by far the most unprofessional and low grade experience ever…..and it’s only 2:30 am of my first night. Very poor quality of a patient experience. I will update more after discharge. So far, this system has billed my insurance over $700K with everything done. Now I know they negotiate lower rates but that’s what I know the top line dollar amount is because that figure is listed in my EOBs. You would think better service and accommodations could be had for that price.

1. Super long wait time; 2. Signs for speciality directions are absolutely confusing and inconsistent every time I visited. 3. The appointment is outsourced by the stupid and money-driven app Zocdoc. It sometimes overbooks patients with IU Health system and gets you kicked out before the appointment. Not patient-centered AT ALL!! 4. Parking SUCKS!
