They are open until 1pm on Saturdays according to their hours, and I got there at 930am and they were already closed.
This location is just as bad as the 25th street location.
Avoid using this business entirely.
Great price and excellent customer service. Staff will welcome you and help you in whole process. I love this place. I rather drive more rather than waste my time OmniSource 25th street location. Getting bad too much wait only one line opens . Too slow in morning not good for business.
It was really quick and easy. The people were friendly and helpful. I brought in 65lbs of aluminum cans and a few lbs of steel cans and I got $46. As of today the price for aluminum cans was 68 cents a pound but that fluctuates. I def reccomend coming here. Just follow the signs for what you have and the people will direct you where to go. Just dont forget your ID lol. The whole visit only took about 20 min once it was our turn. It was around 3 and there was only one person ahead of us. Oh amd bring gloves and sanitizer because you have to empty the cans yourself in the bin. Dont bother tying the plastic bags so its easier and faster to dump the cans. Plus you can reuse the trash bags afterwards. Ill def be back. Great job guys! Thank you!
This place is a joke. First time ever turning in scrap and last time I'll ever go there. Showed up 3:15 on Monday. Was only person in line. Waited there 20 mins. Finally got to pull in. Had two buckets full of copper wire and copper tubing with my ID weighing 45 lbs and this guy wants to come up and tell me he can't do anything with the Copper with a LLC license. All of it came out of my house and barn then on top of that I do construction for a living. Checked state laws and there is no law stating you have to have LLC to sell copper wiring. Called 4 other places and they never heard of such thing. Went today to zores and got top dollar for it all. DO NOT EVEN TRY TO DEAL WITH THIS PLACE.
First and last time ever going to omni source. I called first and explained what kind of copper i had and that it all came from my house and my barn. Both had caught fire. Get there. Only person in kine. 15 mins later pull up and told they won't buy it. Spent two weeks stripping insulation off wires, even sanded down and cleaned all my copper piping. Why was I told on phone you would take it then treated like a criminal when I try to sell it too them. Sorry I wouldn't worry about selling it if i didnt need to rebuild my house.
Was satisfactory . They do seem to dwell on previous scrapping. Like all my scrap comes from one place. Other than that they were polite. My friend had a tree fall on his electrical box , after electricians finished their job , my friend said I can have his scrap copper wire. I generally just recycle pop cans. It's fast moving on west st. Site. I'm satisfied with them.
In my opinion they are crooks and thieves with terrible customer service. I just recycled over 700 pounds of aluminum. It was primarily cast aluminum with a small amount of old sheet aluminum. The two were easily separable but they insisted that they would only buy it as old sheet. This miscategorization cost me at least $350.00. Everytime I say I will never go back and everytime I relent and get cheated.
I have been going to OmniSource for 25 years on and off and they pay the best out of all the scrap yards in my area because all the scrap yards in my area sell to OmniSource they have knowledgeable employees that make it a easy top dollar visit
For those Earth-conscious types and dumpster divers and all of other types of aluminum consumers in between, OmniSource is the singularity for cashing in on your aluminum cans and other assorted scrap metal. At the time of this writing, aluminum cans are $0.95/pound, so it's worthwhile to save up and scrounge for scrap for some months and haul a load over semi-annually. If you've got a garage full of recyclable materials, the time to unload has never been better! For my most recent trip, I was particularly tickled that the workers briefly out specific beer cans that were unique to them, and they told me that they see a wide variety of cans brought in all day, every day, so they're amused by uncommon catches.
I drove 90 miles to Indy to bring my recyclable metal for Indy Neighborhood Cats. I arrived at 9:20. There was 1 car in front of me. At 9:40 I called the Omnisource phone number and asked what the hold up was. The gentleman on the other end listened as I explained the situation. I was on my phone in the car with the windows open. A woman worker walked to the door and told me it would be a few more minutes. Another 10 minutes passed. During my wait several of the workers walked outside and had a smoke. No one said anything. Perhaps I expect too much??? I deeply appreciate Omnisource supporting Indy Neighborhood Cats. If there is a delay, perhaps a sign of some kind would help??? Communicate. Communicate. Communicate.
Colton is getting my 5 star rating for his friendliness, and ability to maintain a quick and professional experience each and every time. Customer service 5 star.
The guy at the weight station for the steel was rude! The girl that weighed are aluminum was very respectful maybe the guys should learn manners from her
I rode my bike 4 miles. It was uphill and in the wind. When I got there, I immediately was told to pull up/ walk in to the scale. The lady was friendly and helpful. I only wish I hadn't burnt some of the scrap I sold because it pays less. All in all, I'm satisfied with what I earned.
Be cautious of your weight when you pull onto the scale, if they think you're not paying attention they will under pay you, I got rid of two tons and only got paid for one ton and when I said something about it they did nothing
Organized lines, friendly staff and if you don't know what your doing or have questions ASK! I started junking a few yrs ago and had no idea what was going on. The staff was very helpful and taught me a lot!
Better pricing than most local scrap buyers, quick scales and the guy running the scale was actually fairly friendly. That is a first for me selling scrap.
Took 15 pounds of cooper in to scrape, first the guy said it wasn't clean, but the magnet was sticking to the scale. Then it only weighed 5 pounds???? Ripped off.
I have been "scraping "for over 15 years now. I dont do it every day, or even as a means to live. But I do know my metals, and I do see potential in every piece of "trash" . This place is a typical scrap yard. Dont expect awesome service (as I giggle when I read some reviews ) or even an explanation of metal types. That's not their jobs nor their responsibility . However, if maybe they are not busy, they may explain a bit to you. Know what you are doing first, then try to make money recycling.
No hassle today. But sometimes I have really had to ask myself if they realize I am their customer. Without me they do not exist. And there's something in particular that there seems to be a pervasive judgmental better than you attitude from the minute you get there except for the steel drop off where the guys are really cool but inside you better hope you're having a good day because not you're going to get hassled
One of the loaders was a complete dick. It's my first time taking copper and brass to get scrapped. One of the guys pointed out a couple pieces of brass on the copper a total of maybe 3 pieces on 146lbs of copper. When I started loading copper into the bin they gave he just grunted and slammed some of my copper cause I didn't know I needed to pull those 3 pieces out. Besides that the guy that helped me get checked out and explained price to me was very professional.
New comers to scrap industry.myself and coworker removed all copper wire from a burndown house.brought it to the scale and the scale operator failed to tell us that just because of a few coaxle tv cables were intertwined with 75 pounds of copper wire that we lost a potential 75.00. Any other place would of did us better..THATS NOT A GOOD BUSINESS PRACTICE..
The steel recycling goes efficiently, yet the exotic metal recycling line moves like molasses. Efficiency is slim too none, have plenty of extra time on your hands if your bringing copper, brass etc. They built 3 bays for this! Never have I seen all 3 running. This place makes the License Branch appear to be efficient. The laziest employees seem to drive forklifts, they are a joy too watch while wasting your day away in line!
I've never salvaged scrap metal before. I took in my old water heater and some scrap aluminum. The water heater went to the scrap steel side. They weighed my vehicle before and then again after I unloaded and gave me a receipt. i had to go through a separate line for the aluminum and brass and got a separate receipt. They took my name, address, drivers license, license plate, vehicle type, and a picture of me and of the items. I then took my receipts to a different room, scanned them at their ATM, and received cash ($11 total - $1 for aluminum/brass and $10 for the water heater.) The whole process took about 20 minutes. It was an interesting process, but I'll probably just leave items out in front of my house on heavy trash day in the future. Omnisouce seems best for people who do this all the time and have a lot more to drop off than I did.
They were rude and judgmental. I was having a hard time, the only way I could get some cash at the moment was to use my lowes credit card to buy new copper pipe and take it to get scraped. I know I payed way more then I would of got back after scrapping. But I could of payed it off 50 bucks a month for 6 months back to the credit card, that was some what reasonable to me. but had no other choice, it was the only way for me to get cash that day. Came there with my receipt of purchase for the copper pipe, even showed them my lowes credit card with my name on it. Told them my situation and the guy said no it sounds to fishy. I'm like I have the receipt man I have no other way to get money. Then he said don't you have a job. I'm like yea of course I work at lowes where I bought the copper from. You can call my store manager and ask. Just cause you have a job doesn't mean you don't have hard times periods. Anyway they wouldn't scrap it even with the receipt of purchase. Bunch of scum bags if you ask me. Treated me like a criminal. Wouldn't suggest anyone ever go there!!!
