I have a 2018 jeep cherokee latitude 2.4 and it's hard to start, and had antifreeze in the oil and all kinds of crap going on with it so my youngest daughter husband grandma takes her car there or to them for years so she told me to take it there so I did. The reason it had antifreeze in the oil the person who was driving it told the oil place he accidentally put antifreeze in the oil so I had it towed there that cost me 125.00. I told them to change the oil and I had 1 1/2 gallons of antifreeze for them to put back in and tell me why it won't start but turn over, they told me I had a cracked head and I tried tell them I didn't because the person who drove it put antifreeze in the oil because they didn't know where it went and I got a bill for 553.13 for 335.00 labor,166.90 parts 18.27 has mat they charged 260.00 check for start whatever that is when I got it it didn't want to start still so don't trust them they don't listen to anything you say....

We bought our car from this shop. Less than a week later the car continuously would breakdown immediately after getting gas. After weeks of this happening sending it to this shop numerous times the problem was "fixed" after several repairs and a "need" to switch types of gas. The car continued to work well enough for about 5 months with it still be very finicky when starting. The car eventually gave out, refusing to start. We then had it towed to this shop where they took the car for over a week. During this period they replaced the starter and allegedly checked the fuses but couldn't figure out what was wrong claiming we needed to replace the cars computer, a $1000+ part. Since they couldn't figure out what was wrong we sent our car to another shop. The new shop found that all that was wrong was a blown fuse. This means this shop either didn't check the fuses or blew one of the fuses throughout the process. We also found that an integral part that keeps the car from overheating was MISSING. When we talked to this shop they claimed the part was never there. Questionable because either they gave us the car without this part or at some point through this process they lost it or just kept it for themselves. When called they seemed annoyed and as if it is our fault that a part was missing from the car only they have done any work on. Overall our experience with Ramsey Auto Repair has been annoying to say the least. I would not trust them with even the simplest of repairs as this all started with getting the A/C fixed on the car.

Avoid! Crooked! Deceitful! Had to get police involved too get my car back 7 Months Later! Car wasnt even on their lot! Proof to show it wasnt! Charged me over 1100 for new starter and power steering pump in other vehicle, took too bell tire.. they told me that pump isn't new! Plus Bell tire said, they fixed your sway links?? If so?? One is old and broken! I have spent well 6k in money with this shop.to find out used parts put on.. kept other car 7 months! Over 7k in rental fees! Trash!

Doug Ramsey and his staff are the most honest and trustworthy mechanics I have ever dealt with. He really cares about his customers and stands behind his work.

I have never had the confidence to say I was done right by a mechanic until I totaled my daily driver and had to take my spare clunker vehicle to Doug. I was praying for a miracle I could somehow get it repaired without putting me into an even bigger bind I was already in and to have a running vehicle again. I am a mother of 4 and work 2 jobs so a running vehicle is something I need to provide for my family. He has saved me in more ways than I could explain and I am forever grateful for him and his team for helping me in such a hard time. Jodi is a gem and so kind. They are honest people and in this day and age that is so hard to find. I will never go to another mechanic as long as Doug Ramsey is in business and I hope that is for many more years to come. Thanks again Doug for everything you have done for me this past week and getting me back on the road.

This place has been a godsend! Doug is an absolute angel and has guided me through my car needing a lot of work just like my own dad would have. I had an issue that kept popping up and Doug did everything he could to take care of it for me and make sure my car was safe and working correctly. I will never go anywhere else!

I showed my kindness and left an awesome review back in the day. Today I am rewriting it. They have changed. I brought my car in to get fixed. The bill was $1100 and my car is worse then when it went in. I tried to go in to talk to them. The people I talked to could care less. I asked to have Doug call me about the issues and it's been over a week with no call. My check engine light is still on, the mechanics at Ramsay's have given me several codes that "could" be wrong. They've changed my thermostat for $1100 and it didn't need to be done. Now they are saying it is the timing chain, one person said it's a cam issue another said it was low oil (they did my oil change) they were paid to fix a leak in the exhaust, it now sounds like I drive a tractor. I wish I could upload a recording of how it sounds. Doug seems like a really nice guy, but he hasn't called back and it's his team that made my car worse. I brought my car to the cadillac shop and they say the engine light has to do with the exhaust leak that was not fixed but made worse. The thermostat never had to be changed. This place was just going to keep throwing unnecessary parts at the car instead of fixing the problem. I'm glad they never called back and made me go somewhere else. Sorry guys, my trust in you has been lost. I really wanted to trust someone and I got burnt. That's today's society for you.

Doug and his team at Ramsey Automotive are always very responsive, quick to identify the issue with my vehicle, explain to me clearly what needs to be done, and very reasonably priced. I value their excellent knowledge, professional approach, and efforts to make my customer experience very positive.

This is the best shop around! Knowledgeable, personable, and great prices make this place amazing. They are friendly and communicate throughout the process so there's no surprises on your bill and will answer and explain everything. I would like to say thank you for all the previous reviews because that's how we decided to try Ramsey Automotive. We took my mother's vehicle and the owner Doug is simply amazing. The prices are reasonable and he won't do something unless he knows it will be the right fix, nor will he charge "extra fees" like others places I've encountered in the past. So far in the past years I've taken my mother's vehicle, our vehicles, our son's, and everything is good! I appreciate the kindness and patience as well, because Doug makes sure I understand what it's being done regardless of my lack of knowledge about cars. I can truly say if you want an honest mechanic, reasonable prices, and excellent customer service you should definitely try Ramsey! I think I've written 1, maybe 2 reviews in my entire life, so that should tell you how impressed I was with this place! I was headed from South Carolina to WI, and my car started having issues near Indianapolis that made it undrivable. I called Ramsay this morning and explained that, if possible, I needed to be on the road again today. I was met with understanding and compassion, and within minutes of my towed vehicle arriving, Doug was examining the car. I didn't mention being hungry (although I really was after the night/morning I had), but the lady at the front desk asked if I had eaten, and brought me some food and coffee. I was just blown away that she would think about that and go out of her way to make me comfortable! The issue ended up being simple and inexpensive, and I was so thankful for their honesty. As a young woman in a time crunch, they could have taken advantage of my situation and ripped me off, but instead, they looked out for my safety and wellbeing. If you're looking for a mechanic in Indianapolis, I absolutely recommend!

Doug Ramsey is the kindest, most reliable mechanic I've ever met, by far. I came to him in a panic after another chain mechanic damaged my car. He was able to find a creative solution that cost me a few hundred dollars as opposed to a few thousand as proposed by another mechanic who quoted first. Throughout the process, he talked me through the repairs in plain language and did not talk down to me as most mechanics do, me being a young woman. He answered so many of my questions in my panic and was so beyond helpful. I recommend Ramsey to everyone and know my car is in good hands with them.

These people were amazing! Due to another mechanics negligence I was stranded in this town, over two hundred miles from home with my pets, with stripped hubs. Not only were they able to squeeze me in their way busy schedule but Doug was sweet enough to call around to find the parts I needed and within a budget I could work. They got me out so I could safely make it home and didn’t take advantage of my desperate situation. I will always recommend them and my amazing experience

Doug was very kind when I called to inquire about a repair for my vehicle and fit me in despite my short notice and his extremely busy schedule. I am very grateful he was able to get it done so quickly!

Successfully troubleshooted a check-engine light for an open circuit on the EVAP vent system by identifying and reestablishing connection for a loose wire. Also diagnosed a broken AC system that'd not worked in two years, and now it's working. I told them I didn't immediately need the vehicle fix, and they didn't take advantage; rather, they still worked timely. I also received appropriate updates explaining after something had been diagnosed and what the problem really was and how much the proposed solution would be. When I went in to pay, after I hadn't understood something before, the I think head guy went through the whole invoice with me in a friendly manner and walked me into the actual garage to show me what I hadn't understood. Glad I happened upon this place.

I am from out of town and blew a tire on my truck. My jack wasn’t tall enough to lift the truck up to Put the spare on. I called Ramsey’s shop searching for help and within 5 minutes they came to my aid. Brought a jack and a impact. They wouldn’t even let me change the tire. They did all of this for no money. I tried to pay them for their time, but Doug insisted I not pay. I don’t know what I would of done without them. Truly a great customer service company. Thank you again for all of your help today! I will repeat, Doug is a G. Doug Ramsey is my go-to. When I say this man is a better man than mechanic than a person I’m saying something big. I’ve seen reviews of him helping people without charge because they happened to break down by his shop. You feel that from the get go. They’re brief and business on the phone because they’re always loaded up, but trust me once your car is up on the lift or you’re there to pick up you feel the personable touch immediately. He redid my whole drivetrain, my muffler and catalytic for thousands, and I mean THOUSANDS, less than chains quoted me. He’s personable, he talks you through what he did and why, he lays out all your charges clearly, and the best part of that: they NEVER job you for parts. Chains always mark their parts up way high to profit off the part and the labor. If Doug does that he does a hell of a job hiding it, I tell you that. Every person in there, is good people. I’ve heard from friends I haven’t spoke to in a decade say how good him and his people are. If you’re going to Doug, especially if you show your face twice, you feel like family. I’ll never take my Jeep XJ to another shop in Indy.

*AVOID AT ALL COSTS USE ANOTHER GARAGE* Nice enough guy, horrendous visual inspection. Recently spent a large chunk of change on front end rebuild. Left major problems unresolved with the vehicle that I had to figure out myself and Im still fixing it to this day after spending 2500 on parts and labor. I'm not even certain the parts were all the way bad. They saw someone trying to spend a lot of money on their vehicle and decided to make the fast buck. I highly doubt they even did their 90$ visual inspection because wouldn't ya know? The only parts that got fixed were ones I mentioned. How the flummery do you miss a ball joint on a visual inspection and so much more than that its mind boggling

Had a front left axle (2006 Accord V6) break as I started away from a stop light at i-465 onto Emerson. They were passing by at exactly that time. Got my car out of the exit ramp lane. Called a tow truck for me. By the time we got to their shop (3 blocks or so) the wrecker was putting my car on the truck. Parts and labor costs were reasonable based on average charges reported in this area. This started at 10:05 AM and the call saying my car was ready came about 3-1/2 hours later. Very happy with the experience. The diagnosis made on-site where my car had been pushed off the road was dead-on. The estimate they gave me on the spot was "spot-on". The service was fast and friendly.

The least amount of work done for the most money possible. I wouldn't let these guys fix a power wheels if you paid me to have it done. The guy behind the counter answering phones argued with me about prices before I had even agreed to what I wanted done. Just a heads up, sometimes your customers are more educated when it comes to automotive anything. There is a chance the customer doesn't have time to do it themselves and just wants a trust worthy and great place to take their car too. If you're looking for either one of those 2 things, I'd look elsewhere.

AWESOME AUTO REPAIR SERVICE, have known the owner Doug Ramsey since he started Ramsey Automotive over 10 years ago. He is a good guy, he knows what he's doing. He will figure out what is wrong & CALL YOU WITH A ESTIMATE BEFORE ANY WORK IS DONE FOR APPROVAL!!! He's not over priced, guarantees all his work & he's personable & funny. I would recamend Ramsey Automotive to anyone. RAMSEY has served ou different cars & Van's just as long. Have never had to bring a car or van back other than for maintenance.

First time going to this place it was great. Everyone is very nice and the pricing was great. I recently went in to get a head light changed on my 07 Honda Civic. Two weeks before I was struck by a semi tire on the interstate and had the front end of my car replaced. The morning I took my car in me and my husband tried changing the light ourselves resulting in two of the rivets to be broken above the tire. Obviously we didn't want to break anymore and called Ramseys. I took my car in and waited with my daughter on site. After being there awhile he came out and told me they would not be able to fix it by the manual that he needed to take off the front bumper and that would be more money. I obliged and he went back to work. I paid around 90 dollars or more for the headlights to be changed. Because I do believe I told them to go ahead and do both seeing it was such a pain. Anyways I paid the man and went on to put my 3 year old daughter in the car and on our way. About an hour later I got onto the interstate with my daughter and the entire front end of my car started to rattle like I had never heard. By the time I got pulled over and identified the issue it was five and Ramsey's had closed for the weekend. Meanwhile I discovered that only a handful of the rivets on my front bumper were put back on. After having to duct tape my car together for the weekend (great on paint) and not to mention the new front end. I called that following Monday and the guy who serviced my vehicle answers and goes on to apologize. BUT then says "I don't how that happened those things break off really easy. " Yet I had never had that issue before 🙄 and then said "well some of them were already missing" in which I responded "yes the two week broke off that morning" not the several that very much needed and now missing. This was extremely frustrating to hear after a weekend of having to duct tape my car together over a HEADLIGHT CHANGE. anyways here is the kicker. He says "we will have to order those rivets" aka he never had the parts to begin with and after he broke some taking my bumper off he just stuck a few in the corners and sent me on my way with my 3 year old daughter in the car. Oh and he was supposed to call me when the rivets came in. Not that my husband would let me take my car back there anyways but he never did.

I recently had a protective plate fall off the bottom of my truck on the way to work. Stopped at Ramsey's for the first time to see if they could 1. tell me what the part is and 2. if it needed to be on the truck. Employee I spoke with (didn't get a name but I think he is the owner) identified the part and had it back on the truck in 8 minutes. Cost? $38 out the door. You can't get your windshield cleaned for $38 these days. I even made it to work on time. Next time I need auto work, I know where to take it.

A GREAT SELF EMPLOYED SHOP If your looking for an honest shop to care for your vehicles, I found it! It's nice to know good people are still out there!! We were traveling through Indianapolis when are newly purchased used truck broke down. Stranded we found Ramsey Automotive it was Friday a little before 5:00 closing time for most. Doug , the owner was finishing up his day and getting ready for a day of coaching youth basketball on Saturday. Doug accessed our situation, started making some calls had the parts delivered and had us back on the road in under two hours. Doug stayed way past closing time to help a total stranger get back on the road. When I was handed the bill I was shocked no after hours charges no taking advantage of a stranded motorist, just an honest hard working man taking care of HIS customer. I left feeling like I was not only his customer but part of the family. Great Job!! & Thanks Doug

My wife's van broke down next to his shop seven years ago, he went over to help her and didn't charge her for his time or the part. We have been going there ever since and have never had a reason to doubt Doug's integrity or skill.

My car broke down the Tuesday before Christmas unfortunately and even though it was so close to the holidays Doug and his crew took great care of my car. It was a massive job but they got it done within 3 days just in time for Christmas. I am more than grateful for their service. I highly recommend Ramsey Automotives.
