Perfect place to come and work through your thoughts. The grounds are beautiful and well kept. It's quiet and peaceful, absolutely one of the best cemeteries i've been to.

Came and paid respects to a Titanic passenger Survivor. A huge and gorgeous cemetery she's laid to rest in.

This is a beautiful cemetery with meticulously maintained grounds. Everything is serene, beautiful ,and amazing—the lakes, chapels, mausoleums, trees, gardens, and monuments. We've been a couple of times, and I know there's still so much more to see.

Beautiful cemetery! I have a weird interest in visiting cemeteries. I like looking at the headstones and mausoleums, especially the older ones. The walkways are so pretty here - and there are swans!

Beautiful cemetary! Full of history. Free to enter and enjoy. You may park on the side of the road but don't park on the grass.

What an absolute treasure in the heart of Cincinnati! I didn't realize just how big this place is! We spent close to 6 hours and still didn't fully explore the entire place! I most definitely can't wait to go back. It seems odd.. To WANT to go back to a cemetery many times, but you see, this is so much more! This place is filled with history, trees, lakes, ponds, monuments, mausoleums and gorgeous works of art carved in stone! I can't express the beautiful that is within this place. A goth kids dream come true.. A photoshoot for any occasion waiting to happen. Tho these grounds could be sad, I seen and felt so much joy! I would most definitely recommend this location, for so many things! First explore, then you decide! ??

1848 est - Second largest graveyard in the USA! Bigger than Arlington and gorgeous relaxing scenic place with lakes and botanical garden like landscaping. Many of Cincinnati's Elite & prominent families from its pork & industrial 1800s heydays are laid to rest here. The most expensive recent addition is a 2 million dollar mausoleum ? Great for a bike ride, walk or run or just a slow relaxing drive. Highly recommend checking it out. The fall colors are worth noting as there are many varied tree species here. 1848 is when it was sanctified. Many geese goose ducks & swans in and around the ponds. Many Many obelisk type grave markers and beautiful sculptured granite tombs. Many photographers take clients here, wedding photo shoots etc since it's crazy pretty.

This is a beautiful, historic cemetery that gives visitors a glimpse into the historic families of Cincinnati. Many of the monuments and headstones are truly unique works of art. The cemetery is also filled with massive, old growth trees. The roads are winding, so it may be difficult to navigate, but it is a fascinating place to discover.

I’ve always enjoyed coming here I have family buried here as well . The grounds are well taken care of and it’s just so tranquil it doesn’t even make you feel like you’re in a cemetery . Just lovely .

Spring Grove Cemetery and Arboretum is truly a hidden gem in Cincinnati. With its breathtaking 733 acres of beautifully maintained landscapes, it feels more like a stunning park than a cemetery. The variety of native and exotic plants, including the remarkable State and National Champion Trees, is incredible. The history behind the ‘lawn plan’ concept originated here is fascinating, and it’s easy to see why Spring Grove has become a model for cemetery design across the country. Walking through the grounds, you can’t help but admire the peaceful atmosphere and appreciate the artistry in the landscape. The combination of historic architecture, the Centenarian Collection, and the wide-open green spaces makes it a perfect spot for reflection or simply enjoying nature. This place has a heart and soul, offering visitors a magnificent resting place and a serene escape. Whether you’re a history buff, nature lover, or simply searching for a tranquil experience, I highly recommend a visit .

When you start walking these hills a few times a week, you begin to get some idea of the scale of the place, the sheer immensity. Immense beauty, of course, particularly in Spring and early Summer. Yes, the lower areas near the South Entrance are lovely, with the lakes and ducks and geese and... Don't forget to stop in the Visitor's Center there to the left to pick up a map of sites to be seen. But the vast majority of this burial parkland lies beyond. Further, and higher into the hills, ridges and pieces of forest that are all there. Walk along a high ridge on a clear day, and see for miles in many directions. Get a great workout by not being afraid to follow those roads leading upward. Don't take the risk of tumbling down over the grass in damp weather. This is an arboretum, some gardens, many grave stones, monuments and mausoleums, but it's also a curated place of wonderous natural beauty.

If you are into Cemeteries, historical headstones, want to see some of the most stunning, detailed family plots, crypts and statues...then this is the Cemetery for you. The 3rd largest Cemetery in the United States, you need to dedicate an entire 8 hr or more day to exploring this place. We came back e days in a row for 2 hours each time and I feel like there was so much that we missed. I adore that this is also an Arboretum and that the interesting trees and flowering plants are marked.

Spring Grove Cemetery is a peaceful sanctuary! This historic cemetery boasts beautiful landscapes, serene ponds, and remarkable architecture. It's a perfect place for contemplation and quiet walks. The staff is respectful, and the grounds are well-maintained. A place of both beauty and historical significance, ideal for honoring loved ones and appreciating nature's tranquility.

Wow, what a beautiful place, particularly on a vibrant autumn day. I have no idea how good this place is as a cemetery. But, as a beautiful and historic tourist attraction, it is top notch. Of course, there are plenty of famous Cincinnatians interred here. The names are Kroger, Proctor and Gamble. It's fun just walking or driving around to see what you can find. Of course, there is no admission fee.

Spring Grove Cemetery took my breath away! This is not your ordinary cemetery. This place is packed with extremely stunning fields of magnificent architecture. The nature that surrounds the cemetery is perfect for photographing special celebrations and for making fond memories with that special someone. It has such a unique charm to it that you can feel in the air as you’re walking through. I would highly recommend going on a Sunday morning or early afternoon.

I've been to a number of different "park" cemeteries including Hollywood in Richmond VA and Mount Auburn near Boston as well as the Pere Le Chaise in Paris. This cemetery matches up to those in terms of the quality of the groundskeeping and the ability to navigate around the cemetery. The grounds here are beautiful and it's clear that the groundskeeping staff works hard to keep this place in excellent condition as a sign of respect to those who are laid to rest here. Salmon Chase (Governor and Supreme Court), Rudolph Wurlitzer (founder of the Wurlitzer company), Bernard Henry Kroger (founder of the Kroger supermarket chain), both Procter and Gamble. It's a revered place and it was a positive experience to visit these graves and pay tribute to those who came before.

The gorgeous and peaceful resting grounds and arboretum are such a beautiful part of Historic Cincinnati. The plots can be a little bit of a challenge to locate but are all so beautiful to admire. You can stop and park your car and walk around or just enjoy a slow drive through the paths. Hours vary depending on season but they are open year round. I love to come in the fall as the leaves are changing. Makes for some stunning photos.

This cemetery is BEAUTIFUL and so big and sprawling. We enjoyed walking around and seeing the unique older gravestones. It's so big you could genuinely spend hours wandering.

Very nice architecture. We walked around a bit and found Thomas Huges (created Huges Stem HighSchool). It’s a beautiful place. I love how nice, clean and virtuous the place is. Plants, bushes, flower etc. are clean & watered!

Huge cemetery and botanical garden. I like the really old monuments .. it's art and history all in one. Plus the botanical aspect .... mature trees, flowering bushes and flowers and lakes. This makes it ideal for critters ... birds, rabbits, squirrels, deer. Man made waterfall and a fountain, marble statues and crosses are beautiful. some people find cemeteries sad or scary but it's a great place to take a nature walk or sit and read. While i was there walking around enjoying the perfect weather and playing with my camera ... saw a couple having a picnic and laying on a blanket under the trees. I felt it was a lovely safe area but in the world we live ... always be careful as a woman alone. Its a huge place so be careful not to walk so far and get turned around or lost.

Beautiful cemetery! It gives you vintage feeling once you drive the unique big tall tombs with some beautiful designs (angels, etc.). We drove the cemetery around finding old style to the newest one. Yes, this cemetery is really huge! Nice ponds, beautiful tulips all over.

Visited for the first time today and was completely blown away! The cemetery is extremely large and the grounds are beautiful. The lakes are home to swan, ducks, geese (gooses if you're fancy ?), turtles, large snails, and huge carp. For that alone is worth the visit. Actually the place is so big you're likely gonna need multiple visits to see everything. Not a bad place for a date night with the Mrs. as well. The reason I personally wanted to visit was to step back in time. Seeing the dates on the headstones and moseliums and just getting to be near the beautiful architecture is so humbling. It's truly an amazing place to spend hours walking around enjoying the history, the masonry, the scenery, and wildlife. A ton of freemasons are buried here as well it seems, if you're into that part of history as well. I'll certainly be back!

Spring Grove Cemetery on Sunday was a bustling place, filled with visitors and walkers, who came to take a casual stroll. I went along the perimeter loop, which was about 5 miles long, and was amazed by the stunning collection of grave stones, monuments, and mausoleums. The array of trees and plants was equally impressive, and it was a wonderful experience to witness the diversity of nature. I was also pleasantly surprised by how many people were out enjoying the park on a Sunday, and I felt grateful to be in such a beautiful and peaceful place.

Wow. The architecture at Spring Grove Cemetery left me at a loss for words. Beautifully crafted grave stones and monuments and mausoleums provided so many sights to see and left me wondering about the people interred with them and what their lives were like. Old cemeteries are a treasure of history and ancestry.

GORGEOUS cemetery. I can easily see why this is a national historical landmark. The grounds are vast and I would highly recommend stopping at the cemetery office to talk to Pam (wonderful, lovely staff member) and pick up some maps. If there's something in particular you'd like to see, let Pam know - she is very knowledgeable and friendly. The Norman Chapel is not open except during services and special occasions like Memorial Day, so don't count on that. But there's lots of other sights to see, enough that you could easily spend an entire afternoon here. The grounds are immaculate and the landscape is loaded with lots of interesting focal points: hills, spooky trees, small bridges, tunnels, lonely paths. Tons of upright monuments, a Civil War section, incredible mausoleums, and serene ponds makes this place perfect for mediating, exercise (45 miles of paths!), and just appreciating nature and the peacefulness that comes from reflecting in a cemetery. I can't give this place enough praise, it was everything I was hoping for.

A must see while in Cincinnati area! The grounds are so beautiful. It's easy to find and move around the Cemetary. You'll find now better sample of gravestone artistry in America.

The second largest cemetery in the united states, 733 acres of trees and 12 ponds. You can get lose in this place. There are some well-known people that had been buried here you just have to find them. I recommend this place wholeheartedly.

Even on a dreary, rainy day, the artistic beauty of this cemetery could not be dampened. It was hauntingly beautiful and truly worth the visit. I would have loved to visit when the sun was shining and I could have read some of the beautiful tombstones. Most definitely a place I would visit again!

Beautiful place to visit loved ones or, as we like to do, go there and take walks. Enjoy the peace and the history. Lots of amazing history and famous people buried here.

Gorgeous cemetery that is almost like a park. You can drive through and see this cemetery/arboretum in less than 1 hour. Or you can take plenty of time walking and seeing everything if you prefer. It's known to be a serene place and locals take jogs in the park so you won't feel out of place walking around taking pictures. It's easy to get to and obviously plenty of parking so enjoy some time.
