This rating is based on customer reviews, inventory size, pricing, and service quality
In Detroit, MI, Ernie's Auto Parts Inc scores 87/100: reviews are strongly positive with a few sharp negatives. Customers praise exceptional customer service (Chad and Bill often mentioned), helpful part verification, and the ability to source hard-to-find parts quickly via shipping or shuttles. Many note fair prices, clean/organized office, fast pickup, and working parts on arrival. Complaints include one rude delivery driver, occasional delays or miscommunication on ETAs, a case of mismatched part condition, and an outlier high quote—so pricing can vary. Overall, professional, reliable, and well stocked.

Ernie's had the part I wanted, a steering column control module, SCCM. They pulled the column and called me and had it waiting for me at the front desk. I had a shop install it and now my car heated steering wheel works like new again. Would go to Ernie's again next time.
I was able to get a quote for a tail light and it was reasonably priced for a 2022 Honda HR-V. I wasn't able to get it right then and there but when I return 2 months later they kept my info and had it still available for the same price! Very professional and highly recommend them. If they don't have it in their yard they will order it for you.
This is my experience, if there more than 5 stars I would give them, I tried many auto parts that day but no one was helpful like them, many words I could describe them like “kind, nice, fair, friendly, generous and gentle “ especially Mr. Bill who showed above and beyond
Thank you guys for being so professional
I recommend them to all people who look for parts , you will thank me later…..
God bless you guys
Beware of their delivery driver in truck #046 he's rude and ignorant, he doesn't follow traffic laws, or use his turn signal, he also likes to cut off semi trucks and thinks its funny. I would never shop somewhere that employs such rude morons for employees
Great Overall Service.
Searching Everywhere For That Part And Can't Find It For Miles.....
Ernie's Had That Diamond Hiding...
Definitely On The List When Searching For Anything
I was impressed! I was dealing with Chad. I needed a hard to find rearview mirror for my truck. They were the only one of three yards I called that had one. Chad called as soon as it was available. I also had an issue getting it installed & Chad was super helpful. Everyone one was
very professional, pleasant & I now I have an installed working mirror. Thanks Chad!!!!!
Be careful and know what you are doing when you ask for pricing on parts from this place. Called about a tail light for a 2004 Dodge pickup and was quoted $140 for a used tail light. I just went to Don & Hanks highways Auto parts and picked up the tail light for $25 and change. Shame on you Ernie you're trying to pay all your bills with one customer not a good business model. In conclusion I hope you have zero luck and robbing at anybody else your prices are ridiculous
I needed a black rear door for my 2015 Toyota Highlander and a quick internet search showed that the only black door within 50 miles was at Ernies, and it was rated in excellent condition. Headed over to Ernie’s the next day where I met Bill, a really nice guy. The office is clean, calm and well organized. Bill was very pleasant and he confirmed on his computer that the door was still available, but it was in Ohio. No problem, it could be shuttled to Michigan the next day. I agreed to buy the door, paid a deposit and picked it up the next day when it arrived as promised. Bill had us carefully examine the door before we made the final payment (it was in beautiful shape), then loaded it in my vehicle. I left the office a very happy customer. I highly recommend Ernie’s if you need auto parts.
I just picked up a 2016 Camaro Amplifier and I have to say these guys were nothing but honest, they didn’t just wanna sell me any part they wanted to make sure the part was 100 percent and more, after connecting the part it worked perfectly and In amazing condition and I could not appreciate their help more, Thank you to all the amazing workers there!
Spoke with Tony on a part shipped it to me had it the next day good people to deal with and good pricing thank you all so much going to install the part Friday
Wow! Can’t say enough good things about my experience with Ernie’s. They had what I needed at a price that was reasonable. The customer service from Bill was on point: he listened to my needs, found what I was looking for, told me when it would be available and called when it was ready. He should be giving customer service lessons to a lot of other businesses.
Amazing place, I made several call to locate a radio for my 2012 grand caravan, no one offered to help until I spoke to Chad, he took the time to listen and contacted me back promptly, I’m happily listening to the radio again. Great customer service from Chad and Bill.
couple days ago I drove almost 1 hours to pick up door and bumper. They told me it’s a good condition but when I saw a lot of scratches like needs to be painted again. was very bad condition. Same condition bumper a lot of junkyard they selling 150 $200 but I was thinking spend more money and get clean parts Don’t deal with the body shop worker, And the guy who’s trying to drop the price like $30 or $50 I don’t want you drop the price. I need a clear parts so anyway, I don’t recommend to go this place!
Went to Ernie's for a hard to find part. Been a long time since i've been discriminated against. I am a black man. I asked to use the bathroom while I was making a purchase. I was told they have no public restroom. However no signs were posted stating that. Black people are welcomed to spend their money but not be treated with dignity and respect.
I do business daily with Ernie's auto parts. They have impeccable customer service, and do their best to cater to every customer. Chad does an excellent job of doing exactly what he says, and if any problems arise, they do their best to take care of it. I would advise if anyone is looking to save money for some quality used auto parts to give Ernie's auto parts a try.
Awesome service. I called around looking for a harness for my wife’s truck, no one in the state had it. I called Ernie’s in hopes that they may have one and they came in clutch and gave me one. Literally gave me one. I will be coming to them for all of my auto part needs
Customer service was impeccable! Great place to get high quality used parts to keep you on the road. Came in for a headlight for daughter’s car. Chad went above and beyond to help me out. Thanks for years of great customer service! Will continue coming her for many more years ahead!
Called ahead. Worked with a guy named Chad. Very friendly and helpful. Explained price/quality differences. He made sure to verify via my vin as there were a ton of options. I arrived about an hour later. Parts were ready and even cleaned. Been to other places and the part is magically in worse condition, or off a much older vehicle, this wasn’t the case here. Definitely will go back in the future if needed.
Ordered a radio from Chad for my 2012 Ford Focus. Chad was super helpful and polite. Excellent customer service. Shipped the radio to my door for a great price. Installed the radio in my car and it now works great!! Very happy with my purchase. Thank you Ernie's Auto Parts.
This shop is the best supplier for all our used car part needs. Only one message away and Chad is very happy to assist me with my orders. We are their customer since 2023 and we never encountered a problem doing business with them. A+++ service and quality parts.
I have never shopped here before, but I definitely will in the future. Mike was beyond helpful at Ernie’s! He went above and beyond for a sale. Really appreciate the focus on customer service. Thanks!
I manage Pride Auto Repair in Warren. Tony and Chad are amazing at what they do! They have bailed me out countless times in the past month alone since we started doing business together... Every single phone call has been quick, professional and friendly. Every single person I've talked to is very helpful ! These guys know their stuff and have amazingly delivered every single.time! I highly highly highly recommend to use Ernie's hands down. If you're not, you're simply missing out
Special salute to Chad Hacker who answered the phone, answered all my questions, texted me an additional photo real-time, and then greeted me at the counter when I arrived 3 hours later. Chad was cheerful, knowledgeable, polite, respectful, and super helpful to the point of even showing me very thoroughly the steps required to replace my 2019 F-150 ruby red tailgate. It was a 5 hour drive roundtrip but absolutely worth it. Thank you Chad. Thank you Ernie's Auto Parts. You had exactly what I needed when I needed it. Five stars. Highly recommend.
By far the BEST place to go if you need a part for your car! We have gotten parts for 2 different vehicles now and even though their phones are always ringing off the hook Kyle took the time to find us the exact parts we needed. When we picked them up they had cleaned the parts off and they looked like new. They even sent us pictures before we drove there to purchase them and there prices were very reasonable too. We will always go to Ernies and will always recommend. Thanks Kyle for being so awesome!
