This rating is based on customer reviews, inventory size, pricing, and service quality
In Detroit, MI, reviews of Special Way Auto Parts are largely favorable: customers highlight friendly, professional staff, fast help, a clean waiting area, an easy in-and-out counter, and low prices. Many report broad, in-stock selection and quick delivery; some say aftermarket pieces fit well. However, a minority cite hour-long waits, poor fitment or damaged body panels, shipping problems, and returns/warranty pushback, with a few noting cheaper rivals. Overall: strong value, big inventory, uneven quality control and follow-up. Score: 84/100.
What clients say about Special Way Auto Parts in Detroit (MI)
As a dealer with over 30 years in the business, I’ve worked with countless sales representatives, but Mariam Awada truly stands out. She has never let me down. Her response time to calls and texts is exceptional, and she consistently demonstrates professionalism along with strong knowledge of auto parts.
Even during busy moments when quotes may take time, Mariam always follows up, which makes a big difference. In person, she’s just as impressive, efficient, attentive, and highly capable, even while managing multiple customers and calls at the counter.
Mariam goes beyond a 5-star experience. She is a key reason I continue doing business with Special Way Auto. Management should recognize the value she brings, she represents your company at the highest level.
⭐ 1 STAR – AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS I ordered a fender from this place and it arrived damaged—not minor damage, but clearly unusable—and honestly it seems like all the parts they sell are damaged, so this clearly isn’t a one-time issue. When I contacted them to exchange the part or get a refund, they completely refused to help in any way, showing zero accountability and zero customer service once they already had my money. Selling damaged parts and then refusing to stand behind them is unacceptable. If you value your time and money, do not buy from this place—this was a total waste of money and a terrible experience.
If I could give zero stars I would. Their communication sucks. I got transferred 6 different times just to check the eta on a part. Come to find out it was never even sent out. I filled out their shipping slip and never heard anything after that. So I called and emailed multiple times. Never got an answer back. A month later and I still haven’t seen the part I needed. I would never recommend this place to anybody. Horrible customer service. I will call another business in the future.
Hey I recently purchased a vehicle here and i was helped by A saleswoman named Karla. She was very informative and helpful thorough the purchasing process. I highly recommend her to any one in search of a car as well as a wonderful car lot.
They always get my orders done quickly and make the whole process super easy. The receptionist, Mariam is the best!!!!!! She’s so helpful, fast and has great energy every time I stop in or call. Customer service like hers is rare. Highly recommend this place
It Was Very Convenient And I Was Able To Make A Good Purchase No Hassles Just Make Sure You Are Ready To Do Good Business And Are Consistent With Payments
Mariam is super nice and easy to work with! She helped me find the right parts fast and gave me a great price. Definitely one of the best people I’ve bought from — 5 stars all the way!”
Thank you Mariam!!
I had an amazing experience at Special Way Auto Parts, thanks to Mariam! She’s truly one of the best representatives I’ve ever dealt with. From the moment I walked in, she greeted me with a warm smile and went above and beyond to help me find exactly what I needed. Her knowledge about auto parts and her patience made the whole process quick and easy.
If I was able to give them 0 stars I would have. Bought 2023 Ford F150 left headlight, when I received the truck I realized the collision shop had installed The defective headlight, so I took it back and they would not replace it or refund me the money. i get it the collision shop should've caught it and tried to return it, but special way auto parts dealer should've never sold a defective part to begin. just be careful with them. I would assume they are shady and trying to screw their customers just to make a buck.

Best place ever the workers are so sweet and friendly. Made my son feel like he’s at home. Welcomed us with a smile, slushy and tv for my son. I recommend coming here and I will for-sure be back for parts.
“Great service and excellent pricing on car parts! The staff was helpful, and everything went smoothly from start to finish. I’m very satisfied with my experience and will definitely come again!”
The store manager moe is very attentive and knowledgeable, he made sure everything was taken care of the right way. If it weren’t for him, I probably wouldn’t consider coming back. On the other hand, I was uncomfortable with the way the front desk staff presented herself. Her outfit was highly unprofessional for a work environment, and she seemed more interested in giving out her number than actually helping customers. Management should really address this.. but I appreciate the manager’s effort to uphold a more professional standard.
Well I am a customer drove all the way from Ohio Columbus to pick up parts up at (special Way Auto) in Detroit Michigan and so I want to give a good shout out to Miriam she walked me through everything so easy and also let me understand what it's all about here to be there customer, with the nice smile that warms your heart even if you have a bad day
I recently visited the store and was impressed with the parts selection and the overall setup—it’s clear the business has potential. However, I felt the environment didn’t fully match what I expect from a professional auto body parts store. Specifically, the front desk staff was dressed in a way that seemed inappropriate for a business setting. While everyone has the right to express themselves, I believe a more professional dress code would help create a better first impression and make customers feel more comfortable. I’m sharing this as honest, constructive feedback because I do see value in the store and would like to come back.

If you stop by or call, I highly recommend asking for Evan — he’s one of the salesmen at the company, and he’s extremely helpful, professional, and easy to work with. He made the process fast and stress-free. Thanks again, Evan and the Special Way team!

Mariam is one of the kindest and most genuine people I’ve met. I’ve already recommended her to my family, and they’ve had nothing but great things to say about her too. Highly recommend her to everyone.
Mariam is truly one of a kind. She carries herself with a quiet confidence that instantly makes people feel comfortable around her. She was very helpful and I was upset when I didn’t see her there today

Evan is great to deal with! I’ve been placing an order with him about every 2 weeks. Ships freight and will do you the best he can. Great prices. Aftermarket parts I’ve been happy with everything I’ve received. Sometimes have a to skim a couple places on hoods but normal. They package everything really well for shipping! 5 star!
Special Way Auto Parts is a strong choice if you’re looking for a wide aftermarket parts selection, affordable pricing, and fast delivery. If you get the assistance of experienced staff like Moe
your experience is likely to be positive.
However, if you’re ordering high-value items—especially electronics or lighting—consider:
1. Verifying quality upon pickup.
2. Asking about return policies upfront.
3. Weighing cost savings against
