I've used this shop for a decade until I recently relocated to Florida. Best mechanic shop in San Antonio, I never trusted anybody but them to work on my truck.
We had a motor issue with a 2007 Ford F150. What ended up us having to purchase another motor. We wanted a NEW motor. We were told they don’t sell new motors. We found that as FALSE… This is what Lino the owner told us. FORD dealers told us the mechanic could have bought it straight from them. Well this so call motor didn’t last 35k miles. We kept taking it back for service after the new motor was installed and problem was NEVER fixed. Owner Lino could not come up with his invoice proving that he bought a NEW motor. Lino came up with excuses that he could not find that the invoice is probably in a box. Who the hell keeps invoices in boxes ? Well he kept our truck for months until the warranty expired. This was the worst experience having to deal with such an incompetent mechanic shop. I will NEVER recommend this shop to friends and families. He rips you off and doesn’t fix problems. On top of the NEW motor, an expense of $500+ was added to replace , belts, hoses, spark plugs, coils, oil and oil filter. Well when we purchased out 2nd motor, could started dropping like flies. How funny if the coils should have been replaced with the 1st motor. Well we had to pay again to replace the coils when these coils only had 30k miles. What a loser of a mechanic. So sad that he treats customers like this…. But SANTANA mechanics did the work on the 2nd motor and our truck rungs GREAT!!!
Watch yourself if you bring your vehicles to Alamo City Garage.
I took my 1980 Chevy Blazer in to get some carb and transmission work done. They were quick and easy to work with. The transmission still had a leak after I got it home so I took it back and they quickly and diligently resolved the issue at no additional cost. Good shop and good people.
Mr. Ochoa and staff are the best. Perfect? No one is. BUT, perfectly honest, courteous, thorough. I have had Mr Ochoa as my trusted mechanic/technician for almost 30 years, and I come all the way from Austin for even a simple oil change. Why? Because I feel they care for my truck, put eyes all over on it, and have caught loose clamps (no charge), weak hoses, trans mission issues, AC "weakenesses", belt issues, etc. I have never been stranded. Simple- they always give me best effort. I have read all reviews and I find that the FEW bad ones are mostly due to customer ignorance and not listening carefully to what needed to be done.
I have been going here for years. They do great and thorough work. Anything they have fixed on my vehicles has never had to be fixed again. If you are looking for quality work and affordable priced vehicle repairs, this is the place for you!!
Honestly, I was expecting to leave my SUV there for a week and spend about 1000.00 to get it fixed. I got my suv back the same day and paid half of what I expected. The receipt was clear on what I was charged and was given an estimate for something that may or may not be an issue. I'm happy to have the choice to wait and see if the issue was resolved with this repair instead of fixing everything all at once. I appreciate the promptness and communication. Would recommend to everyone!
My wife took her vehicle in because of a strong smell of gas. Ended up being a purge valve which costs about $98. I caught the mechanic in a lie he said it needed two but it only has one. Charged $530.67 won't be going back to be lied to again.
TERRIBLE experience here!!! Would never recommend this place to anyone. MAYBE had I spoken to the owner, Lino, as I had on my first trip there things probably would have gone better. He seems like good dude but kept hearing he was busy… dropped my car off and distinctly made it clear I wanted full diagnostic of ALL that’s wrong with my car. Guy at front desk Assured me they would do exactly that. Later get call that diagnostic was complete and I need new engine. Never mind the outrageous price he gave me for used engine; I later got estimates 2 grand cheaper. I asked if that was ONLY thing wrong with my car and guy said yes. Said the engine was causing all the problems . So today I went in and paid for diagnostic. Paperwork only shows problems with engine. So again, I asked if that’s only thing they found wrong with my car. Again, guy at desk said yes. So I asked if they did full diagnostic why isn’t the cv axle showing? Another place did a full diagnostic and showed various things wrong with my car but this place couldn’t do this but quick to accept the $101 for HALF DONE diagnostic. Left sour taste in my mouth and I’m staying far away from that place as possible. My car is in dealership where I should have taken first place. Just be careful if going here
My favorite place to go to when i need an oil change or to fix or replace my tires. They always take care of me. Lino, Rudy and the rest of the staff are great. I highly recommend going to them for any work that needs to be done on your car. The only place i feel comfortable taking my car to.
This place is amazing. Lino Ochoa has the best honest business in San Antonio. Had issues and his staff Rudy and George went above and beyond to help us while I was traveling from out of town. They deserve ten stars for their professional auto repair service! Always support local!!

I have used this auto repair shop for years. I dont trust my vehicle with anyone else. Honest friendly reliable fast services. Every few months i get a text asking if i need any repairs done. Great customer service. Reasonably priced. Wouldn't dream of going anywhere else.
Not only did the guys fix the oil leaks that I was having, they noticed other things along the way, and notified me about these issues, and I had them all fixed as well. Great service, competent mechanics, and a great shop. Def an auto shop you want to build a relationship with. Total cost of repair was definitely lower than I was expecting based on my research. I found my mechanic, and it's Alamo City Garage. Highly recommend!
Lino, Rudy and the rest of the team are extremely professional, courteous and easy to do business with. My interaction with Lino over the phone was pleasant, he didn’t rush me and accommodated my family and I on the same day for service in our TRD Pro Sequoia. They were also very friendly in person.
I will be stationed in San Antonio for sometime and I’m glad I found a new goto mechanic. They are located close to Fort Sam, they even shuttled me home, while they worked on my vehicle. I felt they gave me a good deal on price (with 2 year warranty) and also give military discounts - which is always appreciated. I will def return for future service. Thank you !

We took in our 2007 Nissan Xterra that has been meticulously been taken care of through the dealership we purchased from. In 2019 the service quality there began to diminish. We had to take the vehicle back multiple times for the same thing that resulted in us paying more than necessary for an issue I had to ultimately diagnose myself. They cost us thousands on replacing parts that were not necessary, had they fixed the correct issue the first time. March of 2022 the dealership wanted to charge us over $5000 for work that they stated needed to be done, which included the rear brakes that we had just replaced a year or so prior.
This is when we found Alamo City Garage. I spoke with the owner and had an appointment quickly. I took him the quote from dealership and let him go through the vehicle. They found that a few of the “issues” to include those rear brakes, were not an issue at all.
They had our vehicle up and running as new as possible, quickly and at about $3000 less than quoted by dealership. I held onto this rating to see if any issues would come up with what was fixed, but nothing. Everything has been running great since. I’m happy to recommend Alamo City Garage to anyone.

I had a family friend that used to be my mechanic. He was always someone I trusted and relied on. When he past away, I knew the day would come when I would need a new mechanic, but had no idea who.
Initially, my wife and I took our car to the dealership because it had been overheating. We thought that they would be the most reliable since it's their own car. Turns out we wrong about Ancira. Over a month later, we finally get told what needed to be fixed. The price was outrageous, so we went on Google to get a second opinion.
We found Alamo City Garage and felt encouraged to give them a shot since the reviews were great. Within a day, they looked everything over and turned out what Ancira told us needed to be fixed was not correct. On top of that, Alamo City Garage told us that we needed to fix our axel. After they told us that, we no longer had any trust in Ancira. We had Alamo City Garage do the repairs and within a week, they found the parts that were needed and fixed everything. It turned out to be afforable and the car has been running great for the past week.
Alamo City Garage is now our go-to shop for any future repairs our cars need.
I HIGHLY recommend this shop. Everyone is so friendly and they explain everything to you so that it makes sense to someone who isn't a mechanic. Thank you Lino and your team for a great experience. My wife and I appreciate y'all.
These people are great, professional and the facilities are spotless. We are winter Texans, and had a trip planned to go out west. We noticed our car started making a strange noise 3 days before we had to leave. We called several other repair facilities but none had appointments available. I called Alamo City Garage and they told me to come over and they would take a look. They were very professional and did a complete check of our car. Which put our minds at ease for our upcoming trip. I highly recommend giving them a call for all your automotive repair needs.
There isn't enough words to express how much I'm grateful for this place. The price blew me away with affordability. Lino has stellar customer service and the facility (for a shop) is really clean. I'm kicking myself for not coming sooner...I know better now. Alamo City Garage for life. ABSOLUTELY EXCELLENT prices, customer service and quality of service. Came in after being quoted at other places over $1600 for what just cost me $500. I spent a few hours here but the labor would have been 3 hours anywhere. I received some car buying advice and a discount due to my veteran status!! Very VERY thankful to Alamo City Garage! Lino and crew including Gordo are about the best. I first went after being robbed by 5-minute Oil Change. Friendly and personable staff. I have been back several times for oil changes and most recently for tires. Lino helped find the right priced tires and when I called at the last minute needing an immediate (my son ran over a screw) tire change. I called another establishment and they couldn't do it (they are closer). But I called Alamo and they had the tires on stock and the time. I paid less too. Clean and comfortable waiting area also.
I have been very impressed with all of the services we've received from Alamo City Garage. We have several vehicles that we bring in for maintenance and repairs (if needed). They keep us updated with the status of parts being ordered and cost. They are honest, fast and courteous.
I sent my sister here to have her car inspected for loose tie rod ends. They checked the entire suspension, test drove it and spent an hour. Did not charge for inspection. I am new to the area and had no clue where to take my car for repairs. Having had bad luck in the past I was worried about being ripped off. I searched Google and found Alamo City Garage to have great reviews. I took my car there and was beyond impressed. I went in there with a vague description of one of the issues I was having. They could have told me it was a number of things and I wouldn't have known any different. Instead he told me exactly what the noise really was and that it was nothing to be concerned about. He could have charged me for all kinds of things but he didn't, he was honest! I do need a few other repairs and I will most definitly be taking it back Alamo City for them! They are really nice and honest! So thankful I found them!
