This rating is based on customer reviews, inventory size, pricing, and service quality
181 Recycling Center in San Antonio, TX draws mixed feedback: some report friendly, helpful staff (James praised), fast service, cash payouts, some better prices, and organized sections where unusual parts can be found. Others cite low or inconsistent pricing versus nearby yards, disputes over material categories, and unprofessional interactions. Multiple reviewers mention unreliable hours and phones. Pricing and service feel hit-or-miss; inventory value depends on the day. Good for quick drop-offs, but compare rates. Overall: 70/100.
What clients say about 181 Recycling Center in San Antonio (TX)
the staff I speak to on the phone seems like his not happy working on his job, asking the materials they do sell but refuse to acknowledge my questions and hang up on me instead! be professional.
Guy in the office is screwing people over. Don't waste ur time. This is the second time now. The other guys that work there are awesome. I've been payed ok untill this last time. Guy tryed to blame the workers for not marking the metal under the correct category but he is full of it cause he was out there that last two times and this time he I had more of the same material and he gave me $15 when it should have been over $100 at least. My last time wasting my time going to that place. Better off going to River city. Its disappointing honestly they have done me ok untill now. It is what it is I guess.
My definate go to place for salvage. James is helpful and knowledgeable when I had questions. Like... why does he wear overalls in 110 degree heat?? Good place, fair prices. Great location too since there's not a lot of places in the country. Ask for James!!
Their hours aren't true to them actually open. I have gone several times and they weren't open! They lowest prices to actually buy! I would never go back to this place. Plus they never answer their phones.!
Only paid me $5 per 100lbs called river city there paying $11.5 per 100lbs. Asked the dude at the counter he was real short with me. I recommend driving down the road to river city steel you’ll get double your money. I’ll never come here again
For over 880 lbs of metal I received a whopping $27. This is legit the Gamestop of recycling centers. I'd give it 0 stars if I could. Definitely worth the drive into San Antonio.
Business as usual! These guys are on top of the different recycling section. They are very helpful and eager to hear about your special needs.
Sometime you are in dire need of a replacement and it's not a replacement you can go out and get at your local Lowe's, Tracktor Supply, or Walmart. It's a replacement for a old heater, truck, refrigerator, anything and we have been always been able to find what we need.
And yes we do have at times taken recycling and I will get the best deal.
What I like the most is they are always happy to see you.
Cannot get as much as going to SA, but closest to Floresville. Some equipment was down so they had to improvise unloading, but managed. Friendly staff.
