The girl at the scale was nice, the guy was very helpful. They loaded me quickly and accurately. No over night parking but this was one of the best Recycling places I have ever been.
It's a strange first time experience here for sure. There aren't any signs on where to take your vehicle to unload. The office people are not the friendliest either. You can park along the front of the building visible from the street, Grissom Rd, to go in and ask any questions you may have. What they are paying for materials etc. After that or if you don't want to ask just drive in past the gate and office to an area with 2 to 3 spots to back in or park forward where it's roped off and grocery baskets are lined up to take your items. That's past the sign for recycling aluminum cans . That's the only sign I saw. If items are too heavy men will help you unload but you need to get out of your vehicle and walk up to the line of baskets and wait for someone to talk to you. After you've unloaded your things they will weigh them and then give you a piece of paper with your total that they will pay you. Oh and you need your ID. You move your car and go into office to get paid and that's it. Hope this helps first time goers!
Great place to take clean cardboard boxes.. just make sure you take out any plastic , paper & stuff out. & Will be a very easy drop off into walk in dumpster
Good rices on some things, real rub was getting to the door realizing they consider what most places do as #2 insulated as low grade and somehow data is considerably higher payout. Spent a whole evening stripping ac cables to get paid very little
MIKE was awesome and polite. Professional he really did explain things out. I would give it a 5 but we had a worker yell at us at the weighing station and it was our first time
Friendly/helpful staff. Safe to drive your vehicle in without worry of getting a flat from discarded metals. Prices are very reasonable to redeem recyclable metals.
The black man in the copper section is very nice and helpful. Not to mention informative. He will teach you what the difference between metals and coppers is. I will keep coming here to recycle all my metals.
Don't think I've ever had a problem here. All the scale guys are knowledgeable and even though I'm not bringing a ton of stuff they don't act like it's an inconvenience - Shoutout to Mike. The cashiers are all friendly as well. I come maybe once every two weeks and I haven't ever gotten a nail in my tire either so that's how you know it's a good yard
HORRIBLE SERVICE from my initial interaction!!! I Was looking for somewhere to recycle my catalytic converter and I asked the first guy I approached. He said they don't accept them. I asked him if he might know where i can go and He had this look on his face like I came in there with a stolen catalytic converter. He responds "no" and turns his back on me and tries to go back into his booth until I alooking aed for the manager. Without looking at me he points in the direction of the cashier and walks away from me. Very rude. The ONLY reason I gave this review two stars is because of the service I received from the cashier. She pointed me in the right direction and apologized for the actions of that first jerk. As I was walking out a big guy approached me and explained why they dont accept them. HE WAS SUPER POLITE! That calmed me down and I thanked him very much. It was the cashier and the big guy who may have saved that business a returning customer because I WOULD NOT have gone back. If you don't like your job don't work there. Also, I understand the many thefts of Catalytic Converters so it would be essential to post a sign that they are not accepted. Longest review i EVER wrote but that first guy pissed me off.
Got scammed today, i went in to drop off some cable and the guys working there have the scale set to -64lb so basically i got paid nothing for the amount of stuff i had. Be aware of stuff like that if you go in for the same reason.
The place is pretty crazy all the time. No direction or organization. Hard to tell who works there and who's a customer. I go here a few times a year and always able to get my business taken care of but it's a master class on functional disorganization.
It's a great place to take cardboard for recycling.They don't pay for it but it's nice to get rid of my company trash. I go through 30 cardboard boxes a week. It helps the landfills. I also recycle aluminum and tin which they do pay for. I'm averaging about $50 a month on scrap left overs. Fast friendly staff sometimes it gets packed but it moves quickly.
It was very straightforward. Just pulled into the area for dropping off metal, put my box in a cart, they weighed my stuff and gave me a receipt with the amount I would get, then I took that receipt to the counter to get cash.
I came with a small box to check out the place for the first time. I'll be back with some bigger items.
1st time going, my son had computer boards and cables to recycle, not sure what to do or expect, we were helped by Delilah, she instructed us on what needed to be done, as far as separating the boards out and cables for recycling. Delilah was very helpful, patient and nice making our first time at Great Northwest Recycling a good experience. We were pleasantly surprised at the amount of money we were paid for what we brought to be recycled.
Very friendly staff and accurately pay out the amount for the weight you have. I'm very pleased with how easy it is to navigate the property. I'm proud to call it my scrap yard!
I have been extremely impressed with this scrap yard. The staff has always been very helpful and they don't screw you with the scale or taring. Highly recommended. By far the best scrap yard ive EVER been to in my life and I'm 54 years young
First time ever going to any scrap yard and the employees were fantastic. They helped explain the process and guided me to the correct locations for my different types of metal. Can’t say enough about how friendly the staff is and ease of recycling here.
They are fair, friendly and fast with everything they do there. I would say it's the best scrap yard in San Antonio I've been every single one of them and there's quite a few shady ones out there this one is not that's why I go back.
Pulled up to curbside and was brought in w in 5 minutes. Unlike 3 other places... Dr extremely kind.. caring.. has compassion unlike 3 others.. vet tech great. They've help to turn a devastating situation in to a hopeful one so I can be strong for my puppy.
I have been doing business with these guys for years. I am a contractor and my rep. Brian has always done what he has promised. They come to my office at times and pick up my heavy boxes of recyclables and leave empty boxes for the new stuff. The girls in the front office are always kind and get me out fast. Their location is great and I highly recommend them.
This place is awesome when you need a help and hand short on cash Hello..... This is the spot to go ! This employee there helped me get a bin off my truck she send me to the right area for cans and tin... Then other employees helped hands on for me thanks guys keep up the Great Job. A while back I came in to bring in stuff and an employee helped me out boy oh boy he smelled like alcohol bad in his breath I don't understand what kind of business this is but I'm having more than just a second thought this dark guy still is there too
Great Northwest Recycling have the best prices I have gotten and the staff was very friendly. By far it is the cleanest recycling center and it is really comfortable getting in and out with no problem. I have been going in for five years and I haven't gotten no problems. I recommend this place to go, it is by far the best place in San Antonio.
I'm not sure how their prices compare with other recycling centers but I give it five stars because it is by far the cleanest one I have been to. The first time I went I thought it was really dirty but I guess that's because I had never been to another one here in San Antonio. They actually HELP you and I feel way safer when I go to this one.
