Today I had an awesome experience at Ben western scrap yard on Lyell avenue, With such a wonderful staff member, Brianna. Great customer service and wonderful personality it was fast and efficient thank you so much for your great customer service I'll recommend this location to anyone that scrapping in the area for their great inefficient service

This place is a joke. I own a hvac company. I brought my scrape here. They signed off on it I went to the window and they needed another approval because it’s was 1150 dollars. This approval took 38 mins I stood there while people passed me in line.
I always hear that ben weitzman pays top dollar so ive been dumping here. Metalico is paying .80 cents per lb for aluminum where ben weitsman is paying .62 cents. It may not sound like a lot, but when you're bringing in trailer fulls of aluminum, it amounts to a few hundred dollars, each time extra by making a ten minute further drive!
In the past, they have matched the price for me, but today, I'm told that's too high. So Metalico here i come!
Best to go elsewhere. Plan to spend a lot of time getting paid. 4 payout windows but only one is ever open unless it’s near quitting time and there is a lot of people in line. Then employees want to get home so they open a second window. 10 people in line 5 minutes per person = 50 minutes waiting.
Today at closing time there were about 8 people inside, in line and 2 outside the door at end of the line. They shut the door on the last 2 and told them to come back Tomorrow to get paid. This after they weighed in and unloaded and weighed out and had their ticket in hand. Pretty dumb. You want to see some angry people!!!
Also, the road has holes deep enough to break an axle. Try Premier Metal instead . Clean flat driveway, fast service. Same prices, close by.
First time going for scrapping automotive parts... A very unorganized place. Cars just parked wherever and however, it's difficult to even gauge where to park let alone drive in...there are barely any signs pointing to where people can weigh scrap. There are torn plastic bins that can barely hold scrap items. You don't get your price in your ticket and you wait a long time to get your money. They have a very ineffient way of doing things and a worker agreed with that. "It's very inefficient, but I don't make the rules". Save your time, go somewhere else. I'm not returning.

I have seen your comments. And I only wonder this, if you are not happy why you keep on coming back?
In other words good job to a cruel of Ben Weitsman, I will be back I promise.
New process, slower , don't see a dollar amount till you cash out, customers in line complaining. The yard guys are very efficient and helpful. Still my scrap yard of choice.
Came in with a super late load, Bob and his crew dropped everything to get us in and out. Mind you, we were there way past a reasonable time for such assistance. No bother to them, can do attitudes. Great guys. Thank you.
Called them let them know I was coming from out of town, and I missed the Mt read exit 10a and 10b but on the highway it's one sign that's just 10, so I thought the next exit would be 10b.... yea no.... so I called them back and said I would be 2 mins late and hope they would take us, and they wouldnt.... I didn't have small a amount of garbage scrap....I had bare bright..... never will go here again! Have some decency and common care for your customers!
