I've been going to this Portland Avenue scrap yard since I was around 4yrs old with my father when it was called Kriegers.... I stopped by today (1-22-21) and dropped off a load of scrap into the back of the yard! As usual the people acknowledge me with a friendly hello and let me unload my dump trailer! They have often asked me if I ever needed help when unloading because of my disability, but that's just the way they are! There all great people there and they really do try to help there customers out. And don't get me started on the cashier who is always in a great mood and has a smile on her face as long as you are polite! Just really nice people there that do a great job!

Closed up before 4pm line the sign says they are open until. Too lazy to put in a full days work I guess.

Bait and switch qoute....Had a small pile of clean #1 copper to recycle. Called and asked current value they are paying? Reply: $2.08 per pound. Headed over and weighed copper in at 69 lbs. Waited in line 10 minutes at window to get receipt to and scan outside cash machine to get$$$. That's when I realized they only paid $1.94 per pound . I told the scale guy and he said get back in line to window.... but that's all we pay. The $9.96 shortage won't break me but the bad rap I spread hopefully encourages others to go somewhere else.

The Metalico employees were very helpful and friendly. Super easy and great customer service. I'll use them again!

Some of the best prices per pound around but the employees are pretty trashy and unprofessional. They take their sweet time and they always make sure their doors are closed almost to the very second of their closing time.

Spend to much time in line at scale

(Call Northside Salvage Yard for vehicle removal. They are getting my car in a hour or two also it's amazing) this is only towards towing...Tow department does not pick ur car up when they say sat around for a day while they claimed they were still coming then at 4pm said they can get to it tomorrow before 10am. So I called at 840am, oh we can't get there till the afternoon. After telling them 4 days ago I have no wheels on the car wasn't a problem then, the one guy says u must of talked to someone else cause he won't send a truck to pick it up w out wheels.

They took the wrong weight when i drove in and ended up halving my total steel weight for it. Do not come unless you like losing money.
