TOTAL SCAM! ZERO STARS! A few nights ago my boyfriend and I attended a concert in Miami where we paid to park in a private lot near the venue. Upon walking back to my car, I noticed several tow trucks zipping around the area. When I got within sight of my car, I ran to the truck, explained that I had paid for parking and that they needed to release my car immediately as we had an hour plus drive home. The young driver then told me "too bad, not my problem" and proceeded to EXTORT me out of $80 to his PERSONAL BANK ACCOUNT in order to release the car from the tow. I needed my car back so I had no choice in an unfamiliar area in Miami at 3am. He refused to even entertain any other option and was very rude, as if we were inconveniencing him until he saw the green check from Zelle on my phone. Once he had his money, he released the car from the tow and sped off. I'll be checking for damages to my car, reporting them to my bank, the BBB and the State of Florida Consumer Bureau. I wouldn't be surprised if the parking guys and these guys are working together to purposely scam people into parking and subsequent towing. Extortion, Theft, and Rude, Entitled Behavior is what you'll find at this sham of a business.
The actual towing service I received 2025-03-11 was good. The problem arose a few weeks later on 2025-03-30, when I received a fraud notice from my credit card company that someone had attempted to charge the credit card $54.31 for "TracFone Wireless". The credit card is a virtual card that is only valid for charges by American Towing, thus the TracFone Wireless charge was declined (yea for virtual cards!). Apparently American Towing does not have a secure system to protect user's credit card information.
This company is very unprofessional and they’re a bunch of crooks. I called for a tow and I simply asked Steve for a breakdown of the charge and he refused to let me know how he gets 78 miles out of a 39 mile transport. Now I understand why their review rating is terrible. They don’t deserve to have the name of our great nation. Stay far away from this company.
Terrible Experience - Dishonest and Unprofessional
If I could give zero stars, I would. This towing company is an absolute nightmare to deal with. After the Hialeah police assured me my mother could pick up my car, this company blatantly refused to release it. Their staff was rude, dismissive, and seemed more interested in squeezing out extra fees than providing any real service.
It’s clear they prioritize profits over people, exploiting an already frustrating situation. Save yourself the trouble and avoid this place at all costs. Dealing with them felt like an unnecessary punishment on top of an already stressful day. Shameful.
If you have a car ANY CAR/TRUCK do not leave it with these people they will use your crashed vehicle, leave the windows so IF IT RAINS we ARE IN MIAMI it they will cause more damage to your car more then they will tell you they can’t release it from until Monday but There allowed to use your crashed vehicle and leave the windows open I have full LoJack tracking / monitoring on my vehicle so I have the time and proof that this company is the worst if you have a bicycle you shouldnt even bring it here
Scammers and liars
They held my car for 2 days because they said no one was working. When I went to pick up my car the guy said he was there and I could have gotten my car. Then I called headquarters and the guy called me back lying saying he never was there.
Just so they can get the $250 admin fee
You have the right to get your vehicle even if it’s after hours you can’t forcefully withhold my vehicle when I had no hold on my vehicle
Unfortunately, this people will damage your vehicle as long as they get it in their possession. They will sneak in during nighttime to retrieve the vehicle from your own parking spot, legally parked.
Not sure why people would fault them for their mistakes. People don’t take personal responsibility anymore nowadays. Thank you for being professional and releasing my vehicle the proper way. Good job!
These people are predators. They go into apartment buildings in the middle of the night and search for vehicles without a parking sticker to tow.
They also put a warning sticker on but tow it anyway 2 hours later (while people are sleeping and wouldn't have seen the sticker).
Broke into my car so they could tow it for profit. Claiming they didn't do the damage when my car was clearly broken into with finger prints everywhere.
My vehicle was towed on the first of this year after a hit and run, the officer on the scene contacted American Towing. My experience with them was honestly the best experience anyone can have when it comes to towing companies. From me calling them, or interacting in person, they have been the nicest people. They informed me of everything I needed, helped me remove items from my vehicle and treated me with respect. I will definitely consider them if I need their services again. Thank you to the two gentlemen at the front desk.
I had an exceptional experience with this towing company! Their service was prompt, professional, and efficient. The team was friendly and handled my vehicle with care. I felt relieved knowing I was in good hands. I highly recommend them for anyone in need of towing services. They truly went above and beyond!
My car broke down in the middle of the road, and they took me safely to a mechanic! Their prices are reasonable. The staff was very friendly and kind. 10/10 now I know who I’m going to call when I break down.

Unfortunately my car was towed due to my mistake. Considering the fact that I was extremely frustrated they were great with me. Very professional, amazing communication. Explained the entire process step-by-step. Made entire process of getting my car back very easy!!!!
Getting your car towed is not an experience I wish on anybody. Thankfully the staff at American Towing made it a pleasant one. Keep up the good work guys!!
They overcharge almost everyone.. give you a receipt written on hand with charges that are not real. Stay away from them. If your car is taken by them, try to get it ASAP
This company goes into gated community to pick up cars. And on top when I went to pick up car they over charged me for storage, I noticed because the send me a certified mail telling me their fees and what they charge was not even close. And they denied to reimburse my money.
Avoid at all costs, they towed my car and damaged it in the process, then told me they weren’t responsible and that I’d have to pay for the repairs. Horrible service and refused to take responsibility for their mistake.
When I saw my truck gone I assumed it had been stolen. Only to realize later that it was towed because I was parked in a spot not meant for parking. I did pay the parking meter so I truly didn't know. At best it should have only been a parking ticket. They provided no information on who, where, or how to get your vehicle back so I had to spend about an hour on the phone with the city just to located my truck. I gave them one star because I feel that they prey on people for innocent mistakes. They had my truck for 2 hours and made $165 off of me. Bunch of thieves.
1) The ladies in countertop treated me like a criminal.
2) They feel empowered and channel his power completely in the wrong way with the people of America.
3) A crane dragged my car with the support of the local police and another was the one that deposited in the facility, what can of Mafia operate there?
4) Is a hard business and no one is happy when the car is towed but for sure the AMERICAN TOWING SERVICE STAFF needs to be trained, qualified and constantly supervised to avoid the mafia that reigns in it.
5) If they continue to project themselves as they do with society, it is only a matter of time for a misfortune to occurs.
This tow truck company is the biggest scam. Money hungry criminals. Make sure you take all your stuff out if your car is towed because it will be empty when you get it back. They do drugs there in front of your face and have not a care in the world. A DISGRACE!
Evil place... they’ll take your car and not notify you. Will charge overnight. And it's super expensive. This is the worst experience especially considering the pandemic. Predatory to the max. Lastly, my tires have been misaligned so badly that I can barely drive in a straight line. This place is horrible and should be ashamed of how they do business. If I could leave a 0 star review I would.
Please be prepared for your worst nightmare. This is ugly place and predatory techniques and unprofessionally behavior. They charge a fee for towing ( $ 153) then another another fee if your car was over 6 hours ($ 30) in this place, then another fee if you do not show driver license ( a passport is not accepted) because of course they want to offer to drive your car ( for another fee, I do not how much money) to your home/work according them because you cannot drive your own ca without driver license, another fee if you pay with credit card or debt ( $ 8)
Please report this business, a business like this does not deserve to be open and harming those who have the misfortune of having gone there
Having your vehicle towed is never a pleasant experience, but at least this place was a breath of fresh air with the way they treat you, with professionalism and respect. Heidi at the front office was extremely kind and helpful.
worse place in the world . Rude actitud . They say they are allow to twon a car and not show u any proves of why they did it . There is not law in this place ... they literary do whatever they want to do .... unlogical common sense . Charging you more than $180 if you want to get your car back . No customer service at all . They were very curtious over the phone and on time. Thankfully a stranger who was a mechanic helped me out. So I didn't end up needing towing but I think the least I could do was recommend them. :)
