I wish these people gave a dang about their job. They always send trash flying all over the neighborhood on trash day, have lost my trash can, and also when giving me a new one it was delivered a street over to the wrong house. Why do I have to pay for this poor service?
I’m the Owner of Mac’s Sports Bar & Grill, Cleveland, Ohio We pay for Republican to pick up 2x a week, we haven’t had service for an entire Month. We’re now placing our garbage in the Parking Lot, all I get from Republic is excuses, Cancel my Contract and refund me for 1 1/2 months, I keep getting phone messages delay, but Republic never comes out.
Buyer beware!!! I wish I could give zero stars because honestly, this is what this company deserves. I have multiple businesses with multiple containers. I inherited Republic services on a property that I purchased. It was the absolute worst decision I’ve ever made from fraudulent overage charges to continuously spilling toxic EPA violation sludge from the truck onto my new concrete repeated over and over again terrible customer service and then tried to act like it was no big deal zero out of 10 do not recommend go with waste management I’ve had never had any issues.
I left my residence that had Republic Services and had A $32 dollar credit that I tried to collect for 3 months, with no success. One year later, they send me the a bill at my new address that shows $0 with A $32 dollar credit when I called, they said they sent the money to unclaimed Ohio. And could not send me a check when I went to unclaimed Ohio.It was not there , I believe republic services , pocketed that money. If you have to use them cause they're the only game in town document everything along with every phone call and don't expect to get any credits back when you move. UPDATED 12/8/25 After reading my review , a customer service rep reached out to me and sent me a message back asking for my new address. After sending them my new address , the customer service rep said the same exact thing but gave me a different place to look for my refund , which in my eyes , is just another lie. I would not recommend in any shape or form using this company because of their logistics and they're right hand not knowing what they're left hand is doing. They Sent a letter to my new address and then asked me what my new address was, and then gave me the same answer they gave me to begin with.
My trash hasn't been picked up for a month now! I've had the same trash for over a month and it just keeps piling up because they won't pick it up. I got a notification a couple of weeks ago that it would be picked up but was delayed by 2 hours. The whole day went by and it still wasn't picked up. Then I was told to leave my trash cart out because it was delayed because of "too much yard waste" that they had to deal with in the area and they were still servicing the area and it would be picked up within 48 hours. I do that every time and THEY STILL DON'T SHOW UP!! I report it as a missed pick up every time and nothing is done about the problem.
Then they tried to take out a payment more than a week early and sent me an email complaining that it was rejected by my bank. And pay them for what? To do nothing?
I'm not the only one having this problem. Other people in my town are complaining about the same problem. They have awful reviews online nationwide and I also found out that they had a lawsuit filed against them in 2022 and another this year for this exact problem and it's been an ongoing problem for at least 5 years now. They've also had other lawsuits against them since 2008 for various other reasons.
NOTE TO REPUBLIC SERVICES: I'm not paying until you do your job and pick up my trash. And if you don't, I'm cancelling and going with another company, and will also file a lawsuit against you myself and get the whole town involved!!!
The worst in the buisness. Avoid bulk items for weeks at a time they’re contracted to take until you complain. Leave a mess everywhere when they dump the container. The difference is night and day when we switched providers. They’re the cheapest for a reason.
Have missed my trash collection twice in the last three weeks. Called to report a missed pick up multiple times, was assured someone would be there to collect and no one shows up. Why should I pay if you don't do the one thing I'm paying you for
Worst trash service I have ever dealt with. We recently moved to Willoughby and can’t get anyone on the phone. They have skipped our trash pickup for two weeks now. The first week they took a portion of our trash and the second week they didn’t take anything. When I finally did get in contact with someone, they pulled up our account, apologized and assured me someone would be out before 6pm or the following day. This was two days ago. We contacted the city this morning and were told we would receive a call back from Republic. Still nothing.
A driver ran my minivan (with children in tow) off the street on Seneca Rd. in Mayfield Village on May 20, 2025 at 10 am. He laughed at me as he took an unnecessarily wide turn after he pulled out of the drive (to proceed to the traffic light) after he first rushed to back into the drive I was signaling to turn into. This caused me to almost hit a mailbox so the truck wouldn’t crash into the driver’s side of my vehicle. I don’t recommend this company. I tried to report it but got hung up on.
Our Apartment Community has been with Republic Waste for 25 years... I will say they are the consummate professionals. In my 41 years in property management it is easy to be sold on products but who maintains the product, and who can you call when you need attention.... well My account manager is Doug Roebuck, he is the greatest, very professional very calm even when I am not, and he addresses everything in real time....anybody can pick up your waste but not everyone has a Doug !! An excellent hire. !
I have to edit my review of Republic! Once this review (original below) was read by Republic, they asked me to email them. A few days later, I received a CALL from Lisa with Republic! Talk about being surprised! I spoke with Lisa, and I apologize I do not know her title, but not only did she listen to me, but she helped me out & my issue with their recyclable trash container has been resolved! I thank Lisa for calling me & resolving my issue promptly! She certainly is an asset to Republic Services!
I really hate complaining about services received, but Republic has left me no choice! One of my neighbors decided to swap their small recycleable container with my large recycleable container recently. I called Republic & was told I'm paying for large containers. I was told not to go to the neighbors to retrieve my container & that Republic would switch it out for me on the next pick-up for recycleables. Needless to say, Republic only gave me a newer small recycleable container last week. When I called, I got the runaround from their customer service & was told I needed to speak to Sales. They said they would switch me over, but they hung up on me! I called again (this time their 800 number instead of the 216 number) & got a guy named Frank. He was also of NO HELP! I ended up hanging up on him due to my frustration that I'm paying for a large recycleable container, but now I'm stuck with a small container that doesn't hold much! No offer was made to reduce my quarterly payment for this smaller container, so you can imagine how upset I am! Oh, and to make this even more frustrating, Republic doesn't keep records of their "numbered" containers! Why number your containers if you don't keep records?!
I cannot say enough about Republic. They take care of all of my waste and recycling needs. From wood to lightbulbs and even batteries. The account reps are amazing and very attentive to our needs, even when you need a switch out or a recycling product and call at a moments notice they are on top of it. Especially Marina, and Silvia. Without them my days would be much more difficult. The drivers are fantastic and very friendly and are very conscientious to the property and leave things neat and orderly.
Spoke with Tenisha and she was very helpful and pleasant with explaining everything for our multiple accounts (trash and recycling) at work. We had gotten disconnected a few times (my fault due to reception at work) and she tried multiple times to reach back out to me. We finally got a signal that worked and she took the time to sort through everything. Again, very professional and pleasant to work with.
Nothing but trouble. Missed pickups for the entire time we have had our service. Have been trying to get our yard waste picked up for 3 weeks now and they still have not come for it despite multiple phone calls and assurances they would. I would avoid republic and choose another waste service. We will be cancelling our service after our next pickup.
My Church has been using Republic Waste for many years. There came a point to where we either had to upgrade our dumpster size or upgrade the frequency of pick up. But after several communications with the trustees, we attempted to go with a larger dumpster. But our account rep "Tenisha Clifford" pointed out that after inspection, it was not safe for us to go with a larger dumpster because of the slope of our driveway, so we were able to keep our 2 yard dumpster but the "blessing" is that Tenisha was able to give us a great rate on a "EOW" every other week pick up. We are very small congregation and try to do what we can to be good stewards of what God gives us and it's a blessing that we have someone like our account rep Tenisha to assist us in, doing what says the Lord.
Republic Services provides great service and are consistently on time. Their drivers are very friendly and nice to work with. It is a good operation. Marina is a great and responsive sales person. I am very happy with them.
If you're in the market for trash pickup services, do yourself a favor and steer clear of Republic Services. My experience with this company has been nothing short of a nightmare.
Three weeks ago, I reached out to Republic Services to inquire about renewing our contract for trash pickup. Our original agreement had served us well until the renewal price skyrocketed by over $100, prompting us to seek alternative options. Little did I know that simply attempting to finalize a new contract would turn into a Herculean task.
First and foremost, getting in touch with anyone at Republic Services seems to be a feat in itself. Their customer service is practically non-existent, with long wait times on the phone and unresponsive emails. After finally managing to speak to a representative, I was assured that our new contract would be processed promptly. However, "promptly" seems to be a foreign concept to Republic Services.
Three weeks have passed, and we're still stuck in limbo. Numerous follow-up calls have been met with empty promises and excuses, leaving us feeling utterly frustrated.
It's utterly unacceptable for a company to exhibit such blatant disregard for their customers' needs. Save yourself the headache and opt for a more reliable trash pickup service.
Bill Marchese came to our office on a cold call one day - it turned out to be a great day for us! I had been having customer service issues with our current trash service - difficult to reach a rep and long times on hold. We switched to Republic and have been so pleased with the exceptional service provided by Bill and Republic Services. We are in the middle of a major clean-up of our facility and Bill has been extremely helpful in scheduling pickup and returning empty of our 20 yd dumpster and normal trash dumpster. Five+ Stars to Bill and Republic for exceptional service and response times. I can't thank you enough!
Our account representative Marina Fletcher is a superstar! She provides unparalleled customer service and is an absolute pleasure to deal with. Marina is attentive to our needs as a business, and works hard to ensure we always receive the best value. She simplifies items that others complicate. Her responsiveness is excellent when other won't even provide their direct lines. I've dealt with several other waste removal companies and account reps, and no one has come close to the level of service and value that Marina provides. I can't recommend her highly enough!
The service was fantastic. It was an on-time pickup every week. I would receive text confirmations that the dumpster was tipped before our offices opened every week. The salesperson, Bill Marchese, was very helpful and responsive. He worked with me to find the right solution for us. Highly recommended!
Our company has been with Republic Services for several years (over 7 years) and they have always been there for services, scheduled pickups, bulk items, the customer service is great. Always helpful. They inform us when there's an issue with pickups and they are very accommodating to our needs. Marina Fletcher and Doug Roebuck are wonderful representatives to work with,. Marina is very helpful and understanding and RESPONSIVE--Instead of hold the line and follow so many prompts. When there are issues, she resolves the matter very quickly and responsively, she is also professional and helpful. VERY IMPORTANT!! Their prices are also competitive and you get good service and that's what counts.
Bill, Howie and the Republic team were fantastic with helping our new clinic get set up for service. They came out same day to quote, have been attentive to our needs, and we have had no issues since.
I have been a customer starting on July 1999. I never had a problem or issue with them. Their pricing is very fair and you can't beat their great service. They are very accommodating, they notify us the day before the container pickup and if we need an extra day to get the container ready they will reschedule.

This is possibly the worst trash hauler experience I’ve had. In the 3 months we have lived here, it’s been some service to no service. The truck drives right by my house or better yet will pick up some boxes & leave the can untouched!! Customer service is non-existent. Calls are not returned or when you finally are contacted & tell you how sorry they are, that we will look into this & your trash will be picked up, next week! I have spoken with so-called supervisors who are useless as well. If you have an opportunity to use another trash hauler service, please do so, this company is not worth the aggravation…
Don't be one day late on your bill. They will charge you a $35.00 late fee. I did not receive our bill before memorial day. They did not pick up our trash so I went online to find the bill and realized it was not paid and the bill not received. I could not pay online because I did not have an invoice number. No bill. I paid over the phone and they promised all that week to pick up the trash. I called everyday. I already had two weeks of trash. They escalated the call twice. I told them I knew they were not going to pick it up until the next trash day. My garbage sat on the curb for over a week. Now they are charging me a 35.00 late fee. Really? No service for over two weeks. Not happy but we have no other options.
Although I had a not so great experience with customer service for my business account, my account manager Jeff was such a pleasure to talk to and he helped our business greatly! I was happy to learn I had a “spokesperson” to handle my account with republic. Jeff was personable, responsive and very helpful! He was able to keep me as a happy customer, says a lot!
My experience with Republic is from a business perspective and has been nothing but positive. The sales rep I deal with (Bill M) is great and communicates very timely. They helped us solve problems that were unforeseen and have exceeded our overall expectations for an important service.
