What clients say about Whole Foods Market in Silver Spring Heights (MD)

Not only did my produce go bad after just a couple of days, my bagels became moldy a whole week before the expiration date on the label, and the quality of the hot food bar was terrible, everything was old and just not up to the usual quality Ive come to expect from Whole foods. This isnt the first time either. Im a slow learner. For the prices they charge, you would hope your groceries wouldnt spoil as soon as you get home basically.

Great selection of standard and unique products you come to expect from whole foods. Plus they have a great vegan/kosher restaurant inside the store. Veggies chili shown here was awesome. Staff are great.

A fairly clean and organized Whole Foods - there are many plants in the front along the sidewalk and there is only one entrance door from the parking lot side. Other doors are blocked/closed for entry. This location is not as big as other locations I've been to, but carries everything I need. Update: I highly recommend ordering their fruit tart beforehand because the baker makes it extra nice!! My daughter loved this for her bday party!

I arrived at this Whole Foods at 9:57 PM, before the posted closing time. A manager named Mohammed yelled at me and told me the store was closed. His tone was aggressive and unprofessional. I understand closing procedures, but there is no excuse for yelling at a customer—especially one who arrived before closing time. This experience was disappointing and not reflective of the customer service standards Whole Foods is known for.

Convenient, clean and usually well stocked. State are friendly and on-site security add comfort to experience since they are in the heart of downtown. The store have been and is still in structural transition since the summer. This is kind of inconvenient but hopefully there's good/better on the back end.

Was able to order vegan/ nut free mini cupcakes for children’s school under $20 and curbside pickup.

Consistently poor customer service at this location. I've found and returned several food items that were expired or already spoiled. I make a point to raise these issues with management and generally get a "carefree" response. No effort to make the customer whole and a very relaxed attitude around removing food items no longer suitable for sale.

I am a frequent customer .. been over 20 yrs … those years I’ve mostly shopped at the silver spring location ( mostly, friendly and helpful staff ) I had purchased flowers for many occasions .. rarely dissatisfied .. I know it’s bit odd to return flowers ( roses ) it was more to share awareness and bit principle. To my surprise customer service was a hard no. I explained the concern was the flowers lasted just 3 days .. with trim, water , etc .. unusual .. I considered indoor heat , but was placed in cool area .,, was a bit frustrated decide to take back .. was told by Hanna at customer service we don’t exchange nor return plants. I mentioned was unaware .. she asked colleague in flower department (Will ) who also confirmed with no, we don’t refund flowers. I stood dumbfounded for a bit , my inquiry was not even reviewed ( receipt ) .. After awhile Hanna took the flowers, said would take to manager to see what could be done .. returned.. mentioned, manager said possible if was returned within one day .. I then called customer service online .. took 30 min generate a refund .. I then ask Hanna to please call manager .. Emerson ( produce manager ) arrived.. I explained my frustration of having to figure my own solution, the importance of review the problem.. i shouldn’t have had to gone through all that, how customer service resolved and credit why not the store ... he inquired whom I called , mentioned prime, he related not the same as wholefoods customer service.. go figure .. prime was still able to support… I was surprise by the lack of courtesy and support .., I mentioned over the years I’ve observed the store manager Mr Mamaduo how he provided exceptional customer services, Emerson confirmed Mr Mamaduo is merely an assisting manger. Emerson display the none importance of our conversation by reverting to Hanna, saying I shouldn’t be dealing with this right now, I am off the clock. I ask, did you say, you shouldn’t be dealing with this matter ? He said, yes I did ! I promptly oblige , that he was free to go and he left. This ordeal has been very triggering. Lack of review receipt. Overall tone by employees. Primarily Emerson’s behavior, not at all helpful, more irk. Was given a name Shawn as the store manger. Mr Shawn I hope you consider the challenge times were in and upskill your team accordingly.

It is always a pleasure to shop in this chain store...something new every visit a variety that is not seen in other chains.

Ah, how refreshing it is to step into a marketplace dedicated not merely to commerce, but to the celebration of food! My recent visit to the Whole Foods in Downtown Silver Spring proved to be just such a moment—a reminder that groceries, when thoughtfully sourced and tenderly displayed, can inspire as much reverence as a finely plated roast duck or a perfectly risen tarte tatin. Upon entering, one is greeted not with the harsh glare of fluorescent indifference, but with a gentle glow, a sense of curated abundance. There is music, but it does not shout. There are people, but they do not jostle. There is choice—oh, so much choice!—but never the overwhelming chaos found in lesser food emporiums. This Whole Foods embraces, with commendable zeal, the principles of ethical capitalism. That is to say: business can flourish without trampling dignity, land, or animal. Shelves proudly announce organic, fair trade, and responsibly sourced, as if the labels themselves are badges of moral accomplishment—and in many ways, dear reader, they are. It warms my culinary heart to imagine farmers paid fairly, hens treated humanely, and soil tended with care rather than exploited with chemicals and haste. Let us now speak of the food itself. The produce! Oh my, what radiance. Plump tomatoes smelling of sun-warmed earth. Lettuces with crisp veins and no hint of sorrowful wilting. Apples glistening like jewels in a Renaissance still life. Everything seems to say: I was grown not just to be eaten, but to be appreciated. The bakery section offers an array of breads—sourdoughs with admirable crackling crusts, baguettes that snap with integrity, and pastries that whisper, “Take me home and eat me with butter.” And cheese! Glorious cheese! Domestic artisans stand proudly beside their European cousins. Smeared on a slice of rustic loaf, with a drizzle of ethically sourced honey—heaven! In the prepared foods area, one finds a veritable banquet for busy modern souls: quinoa salads with vibrant herbs, golden roast chickens perfumed with rosemary, and soups so fragrant one feels hugged simply by inhaling. It is food made to nourish both body and conscience. Of course, one cannot ignore price—it is, as many might say, not the grocer for the faint-of-wallet. Yet, if capitalism must operate—and indeed it must—then let it aspire to be conscious, generous, transparent. Better to pay a little more and contribute to a supply chain of dignity and stewardship than to save pennies built upon exploitation. So, to the Whole Foods of Downtown Silver Spring: bravo. Continue championing thoughtful food, humane practice, and the exhilarating notion that commerce can be both profitable and principled. Rating: Five ethically sourced truffles—sublime! ✨??

I like all wholefoods. They have great selections. My favorite are the premade salads. They also carry these small ice cream sandwiches. I forgot what brand they are called, but the one I like the most is the banana pudding flavor. They are placed in a reachin frezzer near the the cookies and all those other goodies on the shelves.

This location went down. I agree with some of the other customers review about customer service etc.. They look unapproachable, God forbid if you have a question they look at you perplexed. I guess they’re busy looking creepy stalking the younger customer’s like they can’t eat well too. However, the pizza incident was it for me. They no longer sell pizza by the slice. I was told If I want pizza I have to place an order, we’re not making any slices for the store. I should have took a photo. Ordering a whole pizza for a slice is outrageous.

Super pricy, but the groceries were fresh and tasty. Parking is impossible, unless anyone knows of some sort of parking garage nearby, we could only find paid street parking.

a lot of the food sections are under construction. barely any milk in stock for months. seafood section is closed. frozen meat is closed. cheese section under construction for several weeks. i would avoid. worst WF in the area. other WF have most of the products in stock and no remodeling.

Today I stopped at this Whole Foods for lunch, and it’ll be my last time at the hot bar. The salads are downright questionable — they don’t even bother to wash the lettuce. I pulled an insect out of mine. When I brought it to customer service, they didn’t look shocked at all, which tells me this isn’t the first time. Disgusting and unacceptable

Miss Joy , who works in the Amazon department , exudes exactly what her name is - Joy. I came to return some items from Amazon & she had a very pleasant demeanor & made small talk with my husband and I as she handled our return. She was quick and efficient and genuinely seemed to enjoy her job! Her customer service is amazingggg! Do what yall gotta do to keep her , she is truly a gem ?

Love this Whole Foods but the person at the seafood counter is not very friendly. Tried to get oysters on 3 occasions and they never wanted to shuck them. But I love that they are on sale on Fridays. Guess I have to learn to shuck them myself

Great whole foods. Parking might be hectic bit it’s worth it. Always a great selection and helpful staff. In the middle of DTSS, might just run into your neighbor, or high school classmate! Watch out.

Clean location with plenty of free parking spots. The hot food bar, deli and bakery were all fresh. There are seats inside as well where you can dine in. The aisles are well maintained.

“I regularly shop at Whole Foods Market and really enjoy the high quality of their products. I always purchase my regular grocery items and fresh vegetables, and they’re consistently excellent. However, there are a few challenges I’ve faced. Some staff members are very helpful, but others could improve their customer service. The pricing system can also be tricky, with different prices for members and non-members. To get the member price, you have to log in online, which can be difficult at times. Another issue is the billing process – even though there are multiple counters, only one or two are usually open, leading to long wait times. Overall, the product quality is great, but improving the customer service, simplifying the pricing, and speeding up the billing process would make for a much better experience.”

I used to love coming to this Whole Foods - knowing the produce section would be stocked well. Now it’s more looking like this - rotten looking grapes ?? I’m checking out the MOM’s organic store that opened recently on Georgia Ave

Update 7.7.24 I purchased Buffalo wings from the hot bar. They were cold, slimmy, and rubbery. This used to be my favorite WFM store. It has really gone down over the last year, in quality, freshness, in-stocks, and overall customer service. The price point used to be justifiable, but not anymore.

Most things here are super overpriced and the Prime discount makes no sense (especially considering you can't use Amazon gift cards), but their chorizo is excellent and $6/lb.

I like to shop at whole foods when I feel like a hippy. It is the only place I know where I can get vegan sausages, peace pasta, grass fed mac-n-cheese, and cauliflower crackers. But hippies are notoriously unmaterialistic and poor, so there is no way a hippy would be shopping at whole foods. Whole Foods is a luxury grocery store. I give it 3 stars because it is a solid 4-star grocery store, but it gets dinged for being cost prohibitive. The cheese selection slays!

The store is nice and clean. But The parking can be a bit frustrating during the weekend

The Cafe tables are quite filthy, nit regularly cleaned. But as a store, it's one of the best Whole Foods I've seen. Large and lots of variety, spacious and delicious.

This is a strange store. No beer or wine. No bar. No dessert bar. One type of restaurant food. The coffee was so bad I tossed it (tasted almost like fish?) the cut pineapple was unripe and crunchy. It was just a really disappointing experience. Location was the only benefit.

This photo is typical. It’s a Saturday afternoon, around 2 PM. The store is jammed. There are 20-plus people in the Express line. And only 3 out of 10 registers are open. Going to customer service is of no help. They just shrug their shoulders and say “we don’t have any more cashiers”. It is my hope that the management learns to prepare more for busy times. Otherwise, the staff is friendly and the food, especially the food bar, is fresh. 10/20 — in order to accommodate their new deliver system, the store has taken away seating. They’ve removed at least 20 seats. Finding a seat, let alone a table, is next to impossible.

We were enamored by the beauty of this location. The A/C was so called for because today is a hot. I always love how clean Whole Foods locations are every time I visit them. She still managed to give us a smile and friendly demeanor after dealing with the heavy traffic flow and after being on her feet for 6 hours. The next closest Whole Foods to here is in DC, so that's why this location stays busy all day. The lady at the checkout counter told us about Wegmans, which is a cheaper alternative when Whole Foods isn't an option. That was thoughtful of her to give us that info because it definitely wasn't required of her to do so. I'm excited about to have a slice of this delicious looking Mango Mousse Cake later on tonight. I wish I could comment on it now, but then we would have a very unhappy birthday girl!
