Arrogant manager! They scheduled my car service for today but according to the manager, the electrician called out last week. Is it not applicable to call the customer ahead of time to cancel or reschedule when you knew exactly what the customer was scheduled for? Rather, the manager raised his voice at me and told me to shut up, like I don’t have rights to ask questions. He called other locations, and says he’s just doing me a favor to get my car in somewhere else, probably a way to cover himself after the disrespect. I have been a pep boys customer for years. I moved over to Delaware and decided to find a location near me. This location is the worst! I don’t need ur help after all the verbal aggressions. Besides, I schedule my own visits. I am heading back to my previous location.
Great, polite service. I called a number of times to coordinate shipping of my tires from Tire Rack and timing off the install. They were very patient, explained the process, and kept me up to date. There's a Wawa and a couple of take out restaurants in the shopping strip. I grabbed a coffee and snack from Wawa. The waiting room has comfortable chairs, bar stools and bar height table which made it easy for me to get some work done. I appreciate Fred, Vinny, Anthony, Ryan, and "the tire guy" for the great experience.
I had an excellent experience with taking my car to Pep Boys. My Technician was Anthony he was honest, knowledgeable, and took the time to clearly explain the repairs needed without any pressure. The work was completed on time, priced fairly, and my vehicle runs perfectly. It’s refreshing to find a mechanic like Anthony and I must also mention Fred for his help. Highly recommended!
I went to a couple of stations to fill a tire low on air and wasn’t having any luck. All air compressors were out of service. I remembered buying tires at Pep Boys on Philadelphia Pike. They not only put air in the tire, a kind man came out in the freezing cold to make sure the tire wasn’t punctured. He also reset the oil indicator which was still showing “needs oil” after another station changed the oil but didn’t reset it. Exceptional service, unparalleled today. Bring them your business.
Vinny at the service counter was easy to work with and kept everything organized during the claim. Information was provided clearly, updates came through when needed, and the process moved along without issues for our mutual customer. Appreciated the professionalism and smooth coordination.
Fred and Vinny were great company and conversation while Anthony worked his magic when changing my headlight. Claymont Pep Boys will forever be my go-to <3
12/14/25 Went for a oil change and a tire rotation the tire rotation never got done kinda upset because I've been going to pepboys for years to get my work done and they failed at the smallest thing the service has gone down over the years I called and they offered to do the rotation and I said I couldn't at the moment because I work crazy hours the point of it all is I'd rather get my money back and hope that they can find reliable people and not the young kids that are just sitting behind the desk on there phone
I have to admit I was anxious about having to buy tires and having them installed. I found Pep Boys, took a chance, scheduled an appointment, and left my car for service. When my phone rang, my heart dropped slightly because I was expecting bad news. Not only was it not bad news, but the technician talked me through a better decision for the longevity of my vehicle. I'm truly grateful and completely satisfied!
Fred the manager is amazing. He was nit my service technician but clearly this place cannot function without him. Great customer service. Today I was in for a battery replacement and oil change. I will be bringing my car back to this location for tires, brakes and anything else I need all because of the manager Fred.
When another Pep Boys location (not this one) left my car in not so good shape, This location was able to step in and make things right. They worked with the other shop to understand what went wrong, clearly communicated with me, and kept the price as low as possible along the way. Vinny took exceptional care of my car during this time, and offered clear and understandable communication each step of the way. WOuld highly reccomend this location for any car work needed!
The customer service employee who talked to us, was extremely friendly, fast and efficient in finding the tire we needed, old car and hard to find, he found it and we went to get it and they put the tire on the rim and everything was great! Thank you so much, you saved us that day! We will definitely come again when needed and Bless you all!
My son went to the pep boys on 9/9/2025 he was on business in Wilmington and as he was leaving from where he was on business his wheels locked up and he got a tow truck and took it to pep boys on Philadelphia Pike in Wilmington he was told it was sensors but when he went to go pick it up pep boys said it was good to go and my son paid close to over $400 and 5 minutes after he left pep boys the wheel is locked up and he had to get his car towed again to another auto place but come to find out what he was told was the rear end was bad but literally no pep boys and not tell us so if you want terrible horrible service and have your money taken from you for no reason please go to pep boys Wilmington on Philadelphia Pike but please don't go it was a horrible experience you had to drive all the way down there to get my son from Wilmington because his car was broken down so thank you pep boys for the most remarkable service not you are horrible you should be ashamed of yourself all you do is take advantage of people
Second time getting serviced by this location. Very quick, respectful, and honest work. Vincent and Ron are in every time I go and are super nice. Ron goes the extra mile to always find the most reasonable priced parts.
We needed a new battery for a car with a quick turnaround time. Pep boys offered a tow to the facility, and had the battery replaced and ready for pick up by lunch, the next day. I highly recommend this business for fast and friendly service!
Was having a problem with my break booster and was calling around looking for a repair, I spoke to Fred over the phone. Fred is a straight shooter, there were no surprises, he let me know the price and the time the repair was finished. This Pepboys has a great team, Justin was the technician and did a great job on fixing my breaks. I can’t thank these guys enough. Excellent customer service and can’t thank thses guys enough. I highly recommend them.
The store manager Fred is straight up very unprofessional and rude. I had an oil change here last year, they forgot to tighten the oil drain plug, i had oil leaked everywhere. This time, for a simple alignment, they can't even get it right since they don't even test drive the vehicle after completing the work. I have to bring back the vehicle the third time - hoping they'll get it right this time. Even worse, they take no accountability on the work they do both times- "the machine says it's good". Hopefully this help some people out, be aware and always inspect their work.

Since I had to bring the car back the 3rd time to get the alignment right, I'm pretty sure the tech there secretly retaliate by putting the wheel nuts on the wrong thread. On my front driver wheel, 4 out of 5 nuts broke off when taking off the wheel. It costed me a bunch of headaches and $250 labor and parts cost to get all the wheel studs replaced. Please always inspect your vehicle and try the service that was done on your car. You never know what was done to it.
I had a very disappointing experience at this Pep Boys. I wish i can give 0 star. The older gentleman at front desk staff was unprofessional and had a poor attitude. The quality of the tire service itself was also very bad. My tires came out unbalanced, and the tire pressure was not set correctly on any of them. Even after I tipped the technician, the work was sloppy and incomplete. I do not feel comfortable bringing my car here again and would advise others to seek service elsewhere.
Here I am, desperate need of a single tire plug.....checked the gas station across the street and was directed to Pep bOys. I went there to ask if they had tire plug kits for sale even though I've got the plug kit already I just dont have any plugs, and I was PROMPTLY told THIS IS NOT A RETAIL LOCATION, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. So I contemplated asking for a single plug and this miserable old guy immediately tells me verbatim before I could open my mouth THATS IT, WE HAVE NOTHING HERE. Basically telling me to get lost. Lol Im not a big complainer, I call stuff like I see it, and I believe big in Karma. Why would anyone want to take their vehicle to be serviced at a PepBoys to begin with is beyond me, let alone a shop where a snarky, miserable old guy who's time is far too valuable to even consider helping another working class man. Don't give these people your business folks. They don't deserve YOUR time or YOUR money. Remember that.

STAY AWAY! This is literally something I hate to do. But I gotta be honest. These guys broke the handle that pops my hood. I came for an ac repair and left with no ac repair and a broken lever. I spoke to the manager. There was no options to fix it, no option to open the hood. Nobody takes any accountability at all. The manager then swears to his mother’s grave that his staff would never do such a thing. I thought that was another foolish thing to say. I don’t have to, but I’m going to take further action because the level of stupidity and ignorance at this pep boys is SO HIGH. Now I have to fix another issue. I really would never recommend this place. These guys have NO INTEGRITY!
The Pep Boys in CLAYMONT DE failed to provide quality services that I paid $1300 for. My 22 Explorer had no problems upon arrival. After two visits for a simple new tire installation and brakes my vehicle is shaking and vibrating and my alignment is off. When I returned to have them fix it under warranty at a scheduled time Pep Boys requested, they again failed to fix the issue and then proceeded to explain to me they do not have a certified alignment tech working and they are unwilling to work with me on the price or provide a refund.
I have been charged for services that Pep Boys failed to execute and the only answer they are providing for me is to make another trip to a different Pep Boys wasting more of my time and money.

This shop is fast and friendly.. We live in a time where customers service does not thrive in retail places. This Pep Boys should be the definition for Customer service. They are properly trained and truthful and love what they do. They show a genuine concern for customer safety which produces trust in them from the customer. This is an A plus team, we don't even live in Delaware we live in Philadelphia but will drive here when we need things done... Thank you for being the definition of customer service!!!
I was a regular here from 2017-2019. Service is ok but I got no phone call after the service was completed and when I called to check the status of my car, the person on the phone told me they are closing in 5 minutes and I have to pick up the car before that. They did not have the courtesy to call me to confirm the completion of service. And when I pointed that out to the person on the phone, he hung up. I had to rush there to get my car and the employee asked me to get out. He literally said “get out”. That was my last time going to this location and Pepboys altogether. Such unprofessional behavior!
I was very satisfied with Justin he said he would order my tires and have them in by Monday and they called me sure enough on Monday morning told me they were in and installed them and had the car done in time for me to pick it up. I highly recommend this Pep Boys and I highly recommend Justin and his crew.

Had a great experience here. Very cool guys here. They helped me out with some knowledge about some tires. I ordered my tires from Tirerack and went and picked em up and dropped them off here until my appointment. They made everything very easy for. Thank you
My wife visited this location to get two new tires installed. When she arrived she was greeted (and I mean that loosely) by a service advisor who seemed like he wanted to be anywhere other than work. After the tires were installed they sent an invoice to me which I promptly paid and had a receipt for but they kept saying that it wasn’t. After about 10 minutes they were able to verify that the payment was made. When my wife arrived back home she noticed that the spare tire from her car was just thrown in here truck and not secured. When she called and spoke to the service advisor he nonchalantly told her that they shouldn’t have done that and that she could come back to have it secured in her car. We live in PA and she drove to DE for the tires so of course she wasn’t going to drive back. Overall the tires were installed but the customer service left a lot to be desired. We won’t be returning to this location.
Went to Pep Boys on 202 and found out it was closed. Except for service. So we went to the Pep Boys on Philly Pike in Claymont, and they were great. The service was great. Definitely a smaller store than 202, but we were able to purchase what was needed. Thanks for the good customer service.
