Near yearly rate increases of more than 15% each time. Granted, prices everywhere are going up - but this place seems to be outdoing everyone. Naturally, support when issues arise doesn’t match the increasing costs.

My trash has NOT been picked up in 3 weeks; I also scheduled a bulk item pickup that has yet to be picked up. I've called several times during the course of the 3 weeks and I've asked to speak to a manager or supervisor. I'm placed on hold for nothing because no supervisor has responded to the customer service representative. All 3 weeks I've asked the rep to have them return my call. Two of them said they escalated my requests and one of them lied saying he has no supervisor. All this after raising their prices. We're being gaslighted. I will be reporting this company to the BBB.

My neighbors and I are customers, and have been for several years. We have regularly been skipped for pickup, but we have been skipped for the last 3 weeks straight (I get it, holiday, snow.. then show up the third week!). When any of us call, we are given any number of made up answers, whether it's "wait til your next scheduled day" or "I can track the truck and they are on their way right now" or "they'll be out tomorrow". That's, if we get to speak to anyone at all. The lack of communication or care is disappointing.

I am writing to file a formal complaint against Republic Services regarding a serious and dangerous incident that occurred on December 9, 2025, and the company’s complete failure to follow through on its responsibility afterward. On December 9, 2025, while I was driving on Interstate 95 North, an object fell off the back of a Republic Services trash truck and struck my vehicle. This was not a minor inconvenience—this was a life-threatening incident. The debris hit my car with enough force to damage my windshield. Had it come through the windshield or caused me to lose control of my vehicle, I could have been seriously injured or killed. Republic Services’ negligence put my life and the lives of other motorists at risk. Immediately after the incident, I contacted Republic Services. I was informed that they located video footage confirming the object fell from their truck. I was explicitly told to replace my windshield and that I would be reimbursed through their insurance. Relying on their assurance, I paid out of pocket to have my windshield replaced. Since then, Republic Services has completely failed to honor their commitment or even communicate responsibly. I initially spoke with employees named Charmaine and Phillip. After that, my calls went unanswered. Two weeks ago, on1/9/26 one month after the original incident I called again and spoke with a representative named Kim, who told me she would call me back. She never did. Since then, I have been unable to reach her or anyone else. My calls and messages have gone unreturned. This behavior is unacceptable. Republic Services admitted fault, instructed me to proceed with repairs, and then effectively disappeared. Their lack of accountability is infuriating, especially given the severity of the incident. This was not just about a cracked windshield—this was a situation where someone could have lost their life due to their negligence.

UPDATE-- I finally cancelled my service. If you’re thinking about signing up with Republic Services, don’t. I’ve spent months dealing with missed pickups, empty promises, and customer service reps who just repeat “It’ll be picked up today” with zero intention of actually fixing anything. Trash missed. Yard waste missed. Excuses every single time. They cannot deliver the most basic service they’re paid for. I’m canceling my account and switching providers. Save yourself the frustration — choose anyone else. Failure to Provide Service and Repeated False Promises ----------------------------------------- On September 11th, I filed a missed trash pickup report and was told the trash would be collected on Monday. As of Wednesday evening, September 17th, no pickup has occurred. I have contacted Republic Services multiple times per day, each time being told that collection would occur “today.” These repeated assurances have proven false, and the trash remains uncollected. This ongoing delay is unacceptable, creating both an inconvenience and a potential health issue. The repeated misinformation from customer service demonstrates a lack of transparency and accountability. As a paying customer, I expect reliable service and truthful communication—neither of which has been provided. Unless Republic Services addresses these issues promptly and implements meaningful improvements, I will be forced to seek out another provider.

After enduring many price increases and frequent rescheduling of pickup days, I shopped around and found a competitor in my neighborhood which charges less than half the price. After paying the account closeout charge and container pickup fee, I placed a dozen requests and waited 4 weeks to have my containers picked up. Disappointing!

I have been a customer of this company for 20 years…until today. I’ve had to place numerous calls to the company for missed pickups. Our trash containers are faithfully placed on the curb Thursday evening; and this company has missed our pick up for trash or recycling about every 6 weeks. It takes multiple phone calls to Customer service in order to reschedule. I no longer feel valued; therefore, I will no longer continue to support this behavior! Good bye Republic!!

Absolutely horrendous service. We've been with Republic for about the past 2 years and they have gotten nothing but worse. Either both recycling and regular trash not being picked up when it's supposed to be or them claiming that trash was picked up but it clearly wasn't. Our account manager Michael Furman does nothing but lip service along with customer service every time we call about trash not being picked up. To top it all off they tend to leave a mess when they do pick up and have decimated our containers over time.

I'd give zero stars if I could. You cannot speak with a live person ever and that's the only way to cancel services. I requested the call back 3 times. Nothing. I even chatted with the bot - couldn't cancel services for me. I'm done sitting on hold and a call back is never coming. This is me cancelling services.

Terrible service! We've been a customer for several years and everything was great until another company bought them. For the last 2 years their service has consistently gotten worse to the point where every other week we don't get picked up and sometimes 2 weeks in a row. I've tried giving them the benefit of the doubt as it seems they have a hard time keeping drivers. To avoid frustration, don't use them. I don't have the patience to keep calling any longer. I hope for your sake, you get yourselves together as you will lose many more customers! I can't really give them 1 star but I can't leave a review without choosing 1. Good luck to you!

Terrible company. Tell your friends, family and neighbors to look elsewhere. Avoid this company at all costs. Missed pickups, over charges, and overpriced. Will be telling any neighbor I see with Republic to switch to a different company. To the reply: No.

Driver looked me the eye and refused to let me put my own bags (after he dumped my can) in his bucket. My complaint got this stellar customer service response. Basically saying, you had 8 bags there and you have a limit of 5 so we left them all. What’s happening at Republicans today that this is considered okay?

I am very disappointed that as long term customers, we had to cancel service. After years of stellar service, Republic seems to have imploded this summer. We didn't mind the higher price, due to the quality of service. But this summer, we had multiple missed pick-ups, promises of next-day pick up to correct that, but no results. After maggots in our trash can twice, we had to go with another carrier. It is almost as if Republic didn't want our business.

I have been a customer for almost 25 years in 2 different neighborhoods. Republic hasn't always been the cheapest but I never had any problems, so I kept them. This year they missed a few pick ups. Now I haven't had my trash or recycling picked up in 5 weeks. I called yesterday and they said they would come out today, never showed. Called today and they said they would be out on my regular pick up day. I asked for a refund and they said they wouldn't issue a refund if they were picking up last week's trash this week. Really? I suggest if you want your trash picked up regularly and good customer service, don't use Republic Services.

If I had the option to rate a company for the worst customer service, I would give that rating to this unprofessional company. Unfortunately, we are forced to deal with them because the Town of Elsmere has a contractual relationship with this provider. I encourage you to voice your concerns to the Town of Elsmere regarding the poor and unacceptable service we continue to experience from this company.

I think they have missed my trash pick up three straight weeks, despite picking up neighbors trash right next door. I have trash overflowing. I've contacted the company several times, and they've told me they would be out the next day, and still my trash sits. It is absolutely disgusting. I don't know what happened to this company, but the rates keep going up, and the service has become awful.

This company sucks to blue hell!!!!!! I paid my fee to start my services and whats crazy is I dont even have a trash can to even start with and that was 3 freaking weeks ago!!! I call them up again to let them know that I dont have any trash cans and my trash is piling up; they tell me that they will come pick it up and they never came after 2 weeks and still no trash bins and no trash. I had to fi d a spot to dump my trash in delaware and to have the audacity to say on the app that they satisfied my service and dropped off my cans. This company csn burn slow all the way to the ground. Yall better pick some other trash services because if yall was to wait on them your property would look like a landfill. Do not hold your breath EVERGREEN WASTE SERVICES is way better cheaper and punctual!!.

I signed up for trash and recycling service at my home. Quarterly costs is variable ~$120-160 due to “fuel surcharge.” Pickup service is irregular with delays and sometimes there is no weekly pickup. This summer, I’ve received a text almost every week saying my pickup service is delayed, or the truck doesn’t show up. Republic doesn’t not adhere to their end of the contract that they make you sign, and I am not receiving the service for which I’m paying ~$600/yr. If the excuse for poor service is that there are ongoing union negotiations and strikes, I’d like to point out that most respectable companies plan for continuity of business. Republic’s poor business planning should not be the customer’s burden to bear. Would recommend another company. Republic Services, you are welcome to contact me if you want more information.

I’ve been really disappointed with Republic Services over the past year. The prices have increased significantly, yet the quality of service has gone downhill. There are constant delays or missed pickups it’s become a regular issue. Whether it’s due to staffing shortages or equipment problems, it’s frustrating to pay more for less reliable service. This level of inconsistency is unacceptable.

You are absolutely horrible!! Your company is pitiful and so are your customer service representatives. We have not had our trash picked up since 7/3/25 and it’s the middle of Summer! The Flies, Maggots and Birds are absolutely disgusting feasting off of hot trash all because you can’t do your jobs. Not to mention, I live in a decent neighborhood with an overflowing Trash Can on my curb. NOT APPEALING AT ALL. You don’t even have the decency or courtesy to notify customers if there is an issue as to why pickups are delayed. This is not the 1st time this has happened and When we call we are given every excuse but the right one! The one lady blamed the strike which did not even occur in our state. We finally called today and cancelled our service and the person had a nerve to get an attitude!? You push customers away so blame yourselves! You’re lucky I didn’t load my trash up and dump in front of your headquarters. Get it together!! Just Awful!!!

I did cancel my services. I called after the owner replied to be supportive and they lowered my bill by $5 (WOW) for 3 month period. They increased my yard waste, so my total bill was even higher. What a waste! I am about to cancel my services after many years. I tried them leaving WM for over 15 years. They started reasonably, but as many have commented, they keep increasing the rate every 6-12 months and hide it by splitting the bill and doing it one side at a time. I've had enough and will be switching within 5 days. My rate had yard waste and they were charging me for the winter and off-season as well with no pick-ups. They claimed, "since I didn't ask for a cessation." They also went from every week pick-up for yard waste to every other week and no reduction in price. The trash guy Jim was great.

Worst trash company ever and the most expensive also. Do not get this waste service for your home they miss pick ups regularly, they nickel and dime you for everything and they charge more than every other company in our area. I switched to evergreen and pay a flat rate of 35.00 per month no tax or gas fees added on and they have never missed a pick up and they work on holidays except Christmas and Thanksgiving only . It’s been 2 months and Republic still hasn’t picked up their cans yet and won’t let me drop them off to avoid 80 dollar pick up fee.

Part 2: 4 more hours and my recycling will have been out at the curb for 7 days. Calls, emails, and more calls, and even a text saying they were going to pick up on Tuesday. Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha HA!!! WHAT A JOKE of customer service. Got a reply from Owner from this post only to follow instruction responding to get no response. Does the Owner have a Name?? Part 1: I don't bash companies, but you don't get any answers when you call the office. They pass you between departments and bottom line is nothing gets done. Somebody who has the authority to rectify issues contact me.

I've lived in my house in Elsmere for 2 years and haven't had an issue until lately because who ever is picking up in Elsmere is either incompetent or dosent really care about their job if I'm not searching for my trash can that has the house number on it and my fence has it to, im having ro move cans from infront of my parking spot. Today I had to move 4 cans that where in a row blocking my parking spot.

Do you want reliable trash service? Basic service on your scheduled day? Then do NOT call this company. Find any other company. Do you want to be read a script when calling for basic services to be performed and your trash pickup missed for multiple weeks in a row? Then this is indeed the company for you. Google needs an option for zero stars.

I did not want to write this review as I was with Republic Services for 10 years and although I am switching providers, I didn’t feel right bashing a company as “I was on my way out the door,” but they left me no choice. I cancelled my services on 3/6/25 due to the fact that Republic just is not competitive in the marketplace. I could live with a 10% premium, but being 50% over the market is instance and frankly, I feel as though they are price gouging. Since early March, Republic has missed 10 appointments to pick up their cans, which has forced me to sit on hold for 45 minutes each time just to have them no show me again and again. Get it together Republic or you will be this generations Sears or Polaroid.

I had a disappointing experience with my Republic Services. They consistently failed to pick up my trash, only to promise to pick it up another day. Except they didn’t. On top of that, I noticed that I was being overcharged for their services. They always offered a credit but it’s too little, too late. They even missed my very last pickup after I cancelled my services with them. I would not recommend this company.

1 Star - Unreliable Service & Constant Price Increases I’ve had nothing but frustration with Republic Trash. They constantly increase my monthly rate without any clear explanation, and their bills are packed with hidden fees like fuel and environmental charges that keep adding up. Transparency is nonexistent, and getting a straight answer about pricing is impossible. On top of that, they regularly miss my pickups, leaving me with overflowing trash while still charging me for service they didn’t provide. And to make matters worse, when I decided to cancel, they hit me with an outrageous $80 fee just to pick up their own containers! If you’re considering Republic Trash, stay away—their poor service, constant price hikes, and unfair fees make them a terrible choice. I wish I had switched to another provider sooner.

I called in July to cancel my yard waste service and discuss my bill for August. After canceling my yard waste service I agreed on a lower price to continue my trash and recycling service. I turned auto pay off because my bill on the APP didn’t reflect the price I agreed to pay. Several days later they charged my credit card for the price for all three services. I called back and spoke to Michael in sales. He was so rude that I canceled all services with your company. I was given a date that your containers would be picked up but you didn’t come get them. I called back and spoke to Julie who said she was a senior advisor and she guaranteed that they would be picked up the following Monday. They were not picked up. I’ve called numerous times and your containers are still in the road in front of my house. You have fraudulently charged my credit card and you refuse to come get your containers. Your customer service is horrible.

I have for better than 6 mos++ been asking that the recycle truck close the lid on my can. I was told the truck doesn’t close the lids. That is not correct. I have other neighbors who use the service & their cans are always closed. Why? The driver that picks up my trash gets out of his truck & takes my trash out of my can & takes it to his truck. Another thing that I don’t understand. My other neighbors who have Republic is not having this problem. I have called and complained so many times that I have canceled my service. If my complaints have been kept, you will see how long I’ve been dealing with this aggravation. Everybody I spoke to was polite but always unhelpful! I would not recommend this company because they don’t solve problems.
