My favorite place in Austin. Thank you Vincent for sharing your artwork and creativity with the world. This was an amazing experience. Regards from Uruguay ??

Unique one of a kind experience. One thing I didn’t read or know before going is to tip. I missed that part so I’m posting this as a “good to know”! This is a residential area in the man’s backyard so it’s pretty awesome he allows guests to come check out his art. I don’t want to give away the experience by giving details of what it’s actually like to see this place in person just be prepared to tip and to enjoy the view and the atmosphere of all the details!!

Google Maps INCORRECTLY stated this was permanently closed. It is NOT! Fun way to spend an hour in Austin. We went on 2/16. As mentioned by other reviewers, pictures don't do it justice. Just call Vince prior to your planned visit. Vince is doing his part to keep Austin Weird. Quirky and thought provoking art installation. Don't forget to leave a donation in the box when you leave!

The Cathedral of Junk is truly an absolute masterpiece. Everything was so thoughtfully organized, and everywhere we looked there was something new to discover. The amount of vintage trinkets and unique pieces woven into the structure is incredible — you can feel the creativity in every corner. The time, dedication, and love poured into this hobby clearly shine through in the work of art Vince has built. Vince himself was super helpful, very informative, and such a sweet, welcoming person. He made the experience even more special. Highly recommend visiting — it’s unlike anything you’ve ever seen!

This is a very interesting art exhibit in a man named Vincents backyard. He built it all himself and it’s really interesting to look through. He’s been featured on many TV shows. If you want to go you need to make an appointment prior by calling him. He allows 10,000 people per year to view it. It was a good experience but I think it’s more of a see it once type thing so I would definitely recommend someone go but i’m not sure if I would need to go again.

Beautiful art installation, & the owner is delightful. Definitely do your research & call ahead so you can check this awesome local icon out! So much discarded history to run around and discover!

A Must-Visit Austin Treasure I visited the Cathedral of Junk today, and it absolutely blew me away. It’s one of the most creative, immersive art experiences! Everywhere you look, there’s something surprising, layers of detail, unexpected treasures, and an entire world built from imagination and reclaimed objects. You truly don’t know where to look first! Every corner is filled with personality and thought, and wandering through it feels like stepping into someone’s wild, wonderful dream. The owner was there during our family visit, and talking with him made it even more special- his passion and creativity shine through every piece. This is a place for everyone: kids, adults, art lovers, explorers, and anyone who wants to feel a spark of wonder. If you’re in Austin, go. You won’t forget it.

What a fun whimsical place to stop and absorb. So much for the eyes to behold, and it is a perfect example of how junk can become art. It's all in the eye of the beholder!

This was a super cool experience, seeing the cathedral was amazing I can’t explain it and the pictures don’t do it justice it’s definitely something that should be seen first hand

This is literally in someone's back yard in a neighborhood. You can tell the neighborhood does not appreciate this being here. No where to park and not open Sundays. One of the neighbors has a sign saying "not the Cathedral of Junk". We only could see it from the front yard and road. Wish we could have seen it.

This is probably the coolest thing I’ve ever seen. Call before to make sure it’s open. You will not regret seeing this…

Great place to visit. Interesting artist with a vision. Cool story and info on how this came to be. Definitely worth the stop if you are in the area.

What a fun place. Owner is super cool and has a little section of the history of it. Fun timeline over the years. Historical junk art museum!

This is a great place to visit. Above my expectations!! Every piece and tool are carefully add to the huge structure. It is a real urban and contemporary art piece.

Absolutely magical art installation. It took me straight back to when I was a kid not only would I loved to explore there as a kiddo but it reminded me of my favorite movie as a kid The Labyrinth. It’s just as mystical and magical feeling even as an adult. It’s completely free but there is a cash donation box set up at the gate as well as the totally awesome owner! He is so friendly and dedicated he has been at this work of art since the 80’s seriously so cool. I highly recommend Checking it out if you’re in the Austin area well worth it !

So glad I finally made it! Vince, the artist and homeowner was friendly and inviting. The Cathedral is like a visiting a Time Machine where old tech, pop culture and everyday items join forces to become art. It was unexpectedly peaceful and 100% keeping Austin weird.

It's neat what they did with all the junk, but is literally in somebody's backyard. You're driving through residential neighborhood and some random house has a whole bunch of junk in their yard. I'm sure the neighbors love it!

This place was absolutely gorgeous! There was so many cool things you could spend all day just finding new things and you'll still be able to find more! I would recommend this to anyone!

This installation was really cool. It was a lot larger than I thought it would be, and was definitely worth the stop. It was neat to be able to see the progression through the years as documented in pictures in the small shed at the start of the exhibit. I’m glad we came!

This was a very unique place to visit just like it is to visit Austin, Texas! Owner was supper easy going and on accepts donations. You will find yourself living in the past trying to see everything. It would be impossible to actually count how many crutches he has in his work of art. Truly a masterpiece and thanks to him we still keep Austin Weird!

Vince has created a master work in his backyard! We called in advance and he was kind enough to let us come see it. I love these folk art creations, and have seen allot of them, this is definitely one of my favorites.

This was a fun excursion! There was so much more detail to look at than expected! The gentleman whose house it is was super inviting and welcoming. We called ahead of time, but there were others that just showed up. Just know that this is his personal yard so be mindful that he might not always be available. Call first. It's located in a normal looking neighborhood. It's all street parking. His neighbors seem to understand thr draw and seem to politely ignore you parking in front of their house, so be mindful and respectful of that too lol The gentleman also has 2 adorable pups that he sometimes let's out to roam with the visitors. The bigger one was loveably friendly and excitedly sought out each person for pets. The sculptures themselves were fun to explore! There were sometimes seemingly themes amongst the chaos. We tried to play "eye spy" but there were so many nooks and crannies that it would have taken forever!

Firstly, you have to call Vince and set up an appointment. When you get there you can park on the side of the road in front of Vince’s house. There is not a charge to enter, but donations are accepted. This is a very unique spot to visit. It’s a sculptural junk yard and it’s very clean and well made! Definitely worth checking out if you’re in Austin - it’s a one of a kind spot!

The most inventive, homespun, but out of this world transportation to another realm, a place where nothing is ordinary and junk is in the most beautiful thematic or random towers you'll ever see. My first time here and Austin and this was a stop that did not miss. Highly impressed. Call Vincent yourself to schedule your appointment to come by and be wowed and transported. Bring cash, you wouldn't want to miss out on tipping and supporting this project. Thank you Vincent for letting me feel like I walked inside a Rauschenberg

**Bring cash to donate** Probably one of the coolest places I've visited! There is so much to see and explore. Definitely a must see if you are in Austin. The artist is one of the sweetest guys also. GO SEE IT! (and bring cash to donate)

This place is super cool and worth a visit when staying in Austin! Just call ahead and to see if the owner is home and he'll let you in. Make sure you bring cash for donations as he doesn't take wireless! But definitely a cool spot.

Such a great backyard art exhibit! I happened to see this pop up on Google Maps, gave the number a call, and the artist welcomed us in less than 5 minutes later. The piece is structurally sound. They even had an engineer help get the city to approve it. Be sure to leave a donation!

Very cool place, literally in someone's backyard. We drove by and almost missed it because we really didn't know what we were going to see. You can climb up steps in different spots that take you up the junk tower, and they have places throughout that you can sit and take pictures. They have a donation box on the way out, they ask for a certain amount of donation per person but you can give what you feel but I definitely recommend having some cash with you, they are sharing their backyard with you.
