Jay & Carlos are total RECYCLING 'RockStars'. Went is w/2#s (lbs ) of #1 grade copper & got just under $10 (TEN DOLLARS, U.S.).
I highly recommend CMC Recycling; the facility is clean & super well organized. The scale goes fast & they cut YOU a check in about 5 minutes. Oh, the young lady @ the cashier's window is also very pleasant & efficient.

The only metal yard where I've been treated with respect by all but one of the workers. They know me by name and were decent to me even through my darkest times.
Most of the city's homeless go there so if there's someone you're on the look out for , it's a good place to start looking.

They priced my stainless steel scrap and aluminum radiator at shred price which is not fair. In addition, their shred price is $90 per ton which is lowest in Austin as of this date 10/22/2025. I will try other recycling places.
I come here all the time staff is nice and the recycling is easy. Had a mix up one time being reimbursed for the wrong type of metal. Went back up there and they fixed it quickly. My go to.
CMC recycling in South Austin Texas is an exceptional scrap metal recycling facility. The staff if extremely knowledgeable, helpful with info and of course they are all Super Friendly and Professional. Their rates are always good. Trust me. Apparently, their drivers skills are about as trustworthy as their ability to grade metals and treat their customers fairly. After reading a few of these reviews.
One of their drivers cut off 3 lanes of full speed traffic having the right of way(green light) on the frontage road. Driver chose to cross 3 lanes on the frontage road while leaving a right hand turn late at an intersection. Forcing 3 lanes of traffic to slam on their brakes in the middle of an intersection to avoid slamming into the side of the truck.
Do better, lives are not worth you getting somewhere in time!
CMC recycling on industrial boulevard. It's a great place to recycle. You're aluminum and scrapped metal. I've visited the place for the first time and was impressed on how clean it was. And how helpful the workers were.
It was quick. At easy and I will continue to go there. I do recommend this place..

This place is awesome. When your broke and have no where to turn look around and find some metal junk you don't use or need and they will give you cash money right there! We love it!
Very helpful and clean scrap yard. Convenient unloading with carts and plenty of bins. They are a bit strict on materials, but pricing is fair enough and the quality of the experience is nice. Prices might not be the highest, but I never pick nails or screws
Convenient location easy operation. Could be better if paid in cash, but I'm sure it helps against bringing in stolen stuff.
I was removing some shop equipment from a nearby shop that had closed down. CMC recycling was very close and I am very pleased with the experience! It was very easy driving in and out of the yard. The magnetic crane operator was very skillful! It was a lot easier to unload the trailer than it was loading it!!! The location at the I-35/Ben White Blvd. interchange was ideal. The prices were fair and the staff was friendly. I had another job a month later and chose CMC recycling again! Keep up the good work!
I just wanted to make it known that CMC is still the best on pricing for scrap metal and I have known no other place in the ATX that their staff is always kind and very helpful. The lady's behind the glass are always smiling and respectful, Jay, Dre, Edgar, Carlos and Chris, and everyone in the Yard are always polite and helpful and I have a respect for you all. I appreciate you and your staff, when we have All needed you! Thank You staff and CMC.
I have been Recycling for 50 years and CMC has been the best place to recycle all of my scrap. Quick service is important to me because time is money. The employees are always helpful and they know there stuff. My grandson (Mason) enjoys watching the employees working on the claw Tractor and Bulldozer. He is learning that recycling is good for the environment and it also pays to recycle.
