I brought my car to this smog shop for a smog test since I was in the area. After they drove my car into the garage, they were somehow unable to open the hood — a basic task any competent mechanic should be able to perform. I explained that I had recently reinstalled my OEM air intake to ensure the car would pass smog and mentioned that there’s a specific way to open the hood, which I offered to assist with. Instead of working with me, they immediately turned me away, citing some vague “code of ethics” as an excuse. It’s laughable that a shop supposedly staffed by professionals couldn’t even manage to open a hood or properly assess the situation. If you’re looking for knowledgeable, capable service, I strongly suggest you take your business elsewhere. This place is a complete embarrassment to the automotive industry.

My wife's car suddenly wouldn't start, leaving her stranded at the metro station on Meridian. We needed a reliable and close auto repair shop, and after seeing Scotty's Auto Repair's great reviews, we decided to give them a call. We're so glad we did! Samantha was absolutely fantastic. She immediately put us at ease and clearly explained the diagnostic process and what they found. The transparency and honesty were truly refreshing. There was absolutely no high-pressure sales, and the prices were incredibly fair. Now, our car runs like new! Professionalism Personified! The professionalism was apparent, just walking in the door. Sam was terrific! We had to leave our trailer on the street overnight as our truck was being repaired. Sam considerately parked in front of our trailer to save our hook-up space from another vehicle. The entire experience could not have been better. They butter you up at the counter with all kinds of praise about their mechanics then they can't figure out the problem and get you on labor charges. They took me for $1,300 and fixed nothing. Took it to another shop and had it fixed for $600. Parts labor and tax. Much better shops around They just talk a big game!!!

When you are digging for gold, you have to go deep, and I feel I struck gold! What a wonderful place to do business with, they don’t make them like this anymore! Little did they know I have a second car that needs work, and I was waiting to see what I thought of them. Well you guessed it, I’ll be back! I know work is not cheap, but you just want to feel you’re getting your monies worth and not lied to. Scotty’s really makes you feel confident in the work they are performing.

They not only change my oil but they did a maintenances check on every part of my car to check for repairs. They will inform you what needs work or make recommendations. They won’t push recommendations on you just to make money. They are very friendly and have reliable communication. They inform you the price before working on the car. Knowing that my old car has been checked for maintenance makes me safe and confident about my car. I really appreciate it. I think they are honest and professional.

I cannot stress this enough. DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE HERE. I have had my truck just over 8 years, and have passed smog (now) 4 times. I also have 6 mechanics I know, I’m kicking myself for not calling them first, instead I googled this place for a simple repair and here’s the nightmare: Long story short, an AC hose came unattached, it’s a 2003 truck so it’s to be expected, things need to get replaced as the truck gets older. I knew the hose was bad and as a result a possible clean for any water or debris and a charge for refilling my freon was to be expected. I also asked them to do the smog since it was due, and wanted to help this small business by letting them do it. I dropped it off on a Tuesday morning (4/23/24) it’s now Thursday and I was told my truck couldn’t pass the smog because supposedly my air intake wasn’t smog compliant, AND they couldn’t touch my AC hose because it would interfere with my air intake. They said it would cost roughly 1500-2500 to fix and there was no guarantee the AC would work, but it would pass smog. To wrap up the issue, I did what I should have done in the first place and took it to a trusted mechanic, it’s still Thursday as I write this, and they not only did my smog check and passed, they are replacing the line and cleaning the AC system, and adding freon. All for $250. All the same day. I’ve reach out to 4 of my mechanic buddies and asked for their opinion and they all agree, this place was trying to make the most they could off of me. I’m a tradesmen and I feel like I have them figured out because I see it far too often: mark up the repair ticket and try to sell the customer on doing all the repairs, it’s a bonus structure for the mechanic. But more often than not that compromises the integrity. If that’s how they operate I hope they go under. You’ve been warned.

14 years - that's how long I've been trusting Scotty's with my auto repair needs. During those 14 years, they have provided oil changes, breaks, engine replacement and smog checks, scheduled maintenance on all the family vehicles ... I trust them with it ALL! Couldn't ask for a better auto service provider! Came in for a pre-purchase inspection (PPI) as I was trying to buy a used vehicle from a used vehicle dealership nearby. For a great price, I was provided amazing customer service, a very thorough inspection, and very loaded information! My car has not been able to pass smog for 8 months. I tried some DIY, tried a couple of different places and could never get a commitment to get it fixed right. A family member referred me to Scotty's. It was a drive for me but well worth it. Samantha walked me through every step and found the problems and repaired them with no add on's or upselling. Fair and honest. My car runs better than when I got it. Scotty's is my car repair facility and I will tell everyone I know. And for customer service and communication; Samantha is a rock star!!

Back on the road! Not wanting to pay the price, or wait the time it normally takes to have my 2009 Dodge Challenger serviced at a dealership, I called Scotty's auto repair. First, I was impressed by the knowledge, courtesy and candor of Sam, who took my call. I brought the car in and they were able to diagnose several codes that caused the engine light to first appear. During the 3 day process, I was contacted by Sandy or Sam to keep me apprised of the progress of the repairs, at least daily. I've never experienced such a high level of customer care from an auto shop! I picked up the car yesterday and took it for a nice ride, pushing it a little and totally enjoyed the experience. Brian got the car running as it did when I purchased it. Scotty's not only treated me well, their prices are good and their service (customer and mechanical) is superb! I highly recommend you contact Scotty's first when you are looking to have work completed on your car!

Sam and the entire crew at Scotty's Auto Repair are amazing! Our car broke down on a road trip and stumbling upon this mechanic (thanks to all the good reviews) was a game changer and gave us such piece of mind on our trip. My car broke down near the 60 and 215 freeway and I googled car repair near me and found Scotty’s Auto Repair. From the moment I walked in the door I received supreme customer service and care. The staff was very informative and explained everything thoroughly. I was very satisfied with the service, information and knowledge I received. I can't say enough good things about this auto repair shop. It's extremely difficult in this day and age to find honest people . To be honest, my father raised me and my siblings as a car mechanic. He was very honest with customers. Scotty's doesn't try to deceive you into charging you for something you don't need. They work WITH their customers! The women handling the front desk are OUTSTANDING! They are very pleasant and friendly. I have even told my daughter she should take her car to them if she ever needs work done. UPDATE 3/8/2022: I don't trust this place anymore. I took car in to diagnose a problem on the car. It took 3 days to get a diagnosis and repair cost. They diagnosed the problem then proceeded to tell me multiple other problems. One simple problem was radiator cap was cracked according to them. When I get the car home I checked the cap ...it wasn't cracked!!!! They wanted to charge me an additional cost of $35 to replace. Really? It costs $13 for new cap. There were other major issues they did as well. I DO NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE TO USE THEIR SERVICE!!!! BEWARE!

We were on Van Buren Blvd on our way from Idyllwild to Orange County for doctor appointments when we developed a serious oil leak. AAA asked where we wanted to be towed and we requested that they please recommend a place because we hadn't a clue. I don't have enough of the right words to express how great Scotty's was. They were kind. They were proactive. They were professional and fair. They fixed my car faster than they estimated for less money than they estimated. When does that ever happen. They made me laugh and turned what started out as a very stressful experience into a fun adventure. If I ever need another mechanic and I could get my car to them, they are my first choice. They're the best.

I went to Scotty's Auto Repair to get my car's brakes replaced. The staff was extremely friendly and professional. After the first replacement, there was still some squeaking, which Scotty's took a second look at free of charge. The second visit did the trick, and Scotty's was able to get my car back to me same day in both visits. Scotty's is a great auto repair shop that is professional, quick and stand by their work.

I have taken my two cars in to Scotty's and the front desk personnel is very efficient and helpful. They got back to me within a day with detail as to what needed fixing, if anything. The mechanics are very professional and I would not hesitate to recommend them. I received a discount because I am a AAA member and I appreciate that.

Jeff was great to work with. He was very willing to answer all of my questions and gave his honest opinion about the repairs needed and the lifetime of my car. Once I gave him the go-ahead, he got my repairs done quickly and did a great job! I believe I was given a fair price for the repairs and labor needed. The parts replaced are all under warranty for 2 years and I was offered a free follow-up alignment service in 6 months to make sure that the parts all settle properly. Would highly recommend!

This shop does car repairs AND smog! I was looking for a STAR smog place nearby and found this one. I went to Scotty's without an appointment and was able to get my smog done right away! Plus, friendly Karen at the front desk gave me $20 off without me having to bring in the coupon - how cool is that. She told me they've been doing this for 27 years and you can tell they care about their customers. Thank you Scotty's!

We've been patrons of Scotty's for more than 20 years. We have ALWAYS received excellent service. They are very efficient, informative and willing to explain any needed repairs in detail. enjoyed sharing my landscaping project with you and hope it gives you some ideas for your home project. as for this visit all good. last year with my other car Jeep and another shop it was failed for many items. I told the owner the testing person is wrong. this is pre OBDII and is not even equipped with a check eng light. also failed for the catalytic the number it had did not come up on computer. It was the same one passing for the last 12 years. then a hose with heat shrink tubing he called a modification. called BAR...(bureau automotive repair) arbitration results Jeep passed every thing he sad was bad. that shop was fishing for work. I even showed the schematic of my gauge lights proving no check eng light the next day and he would not pass jeep. BAR jumped in. free test. was refunded for smog test from shop and now BAR can supersize test this shop. I wish I could warn everyone not to go there that's if there still in business. To avoid this again. I will use Scotty's a reliable star auto repair shop
