One of my favorite quirky spots in Portland to get inspired for crafting projects! You need a bag of undeveloped film? I had no idea I needed that, but absolutely! They got you! A box of assorted doll parts? No problem! McDonald’s Beanie Babies? Yes, please! In general, this place isn’t the most reliable place to go if you are looking for something specific. It’s more of a treasure hunt. One thing they seem to always have in stock is a great organized by color selection of cheap (but various quality) yarn! Even if you aren’t into crafting, I love taking people here who are visiting for a good laugh and for them to get an example of what makes Portland unique. It never fails to disappoint. The way they organize this place is so much fun. My favorite is the “cursed things section”.

There aren't too many stores where you can spend 50 cents and walk out with 5 random things you needed for a project. I do feel like I need a tetanus shot everytime I'm done browsing here. Prices can be inconsistent, staff have a lot of discretion. Its basically an indoor yard sale for crafting supplies.
FYI they still have signs up requesting patrons wear masks (in 2026), although they're not required to enter; the employees all still wear masks.Jun 28, 2026 -
Has everything a crafter can need. I wanted to make a traveler’s journal and while their leather section was picked through, i found some vinyl covers that did the job. Got all the supplies i needed (and more!) for less than ten bucks. Love this place

Great place to get odds and ends for art projects, as well as hobby beginner supplies like paper, paint, pencils, charcoal, brushes, knitting needles, crochet hooks, yarn, fabric, etc.

This place is huge!!! I'm from the tacoma wa area and have had this on my bucket list for some time. They have everything organized really well and great prices.

What fun!! This place is amazing, I could get lost for hours. I actually went in looking for one googly eye - just one, for a toy that lost one. I found one just like it and a refill for an old style ink pen that I didn't want to throw away. Of course I found several more treasures but really- where else could I possible purchase one googly eye. Plus they have great hours, 7 days a week, same hours every day, I love that!
What a great store, I will certainly be back.Jun 07, 2026 -
This is a great way to recycle and reuse. Didn't turn out to have what we were looking for but I'll definitely return when in need of other crafting needs! LGBTQ+ supportive as well.

Worth the drive if you’re not from the Portland area. While I wasn’t blown away by the stock, they had a decent selection of various craft items and pretty reasonable pricing. Will be back !

Amazing up cycling opportunities! I picked up some clothespins this time but they’re great for fabric, yarn and donated art and crafting supplies. Clear out your storage by donating to them. Great for holidays too.

Great place for artists and crafters. You never know what you may find. This time there were several great vintage sewing machines.

Don't buy slop in bulk on Amazon, just go here. Came for craft stuff, bought a "fistful" of pens, ended up with beads because I saw them. Total price was like $7.29 or something.

Bad customer service from some. Rude, actively ignored and snappy about not knowing all of the prices of the items, when they didn't even know. (Not of the all staff, some were kind and helpful) Other than that, cheap supplies. Was better before the move.

Looking for art supplies or found objects for projects...try this place. It is like goodwill for artists. It is a treasure hunt....probably good to visit often if you live in the area.
Visited again and bought some wool roving and a lino block...always buy it when you see it or it will be gone when you come back...Apr 04, 2026 -
For some reason this store came up as a secondhand furniture store on Google maps. I walked in and was blown away though. It was so cool to see so many things being recycled into art supplies, and at super affordable prices. Even though the store wasn't what I thought it was and I obviously didn't find what I was looking for, I still stayed. And left extremely impressed.

Some cool stuff you don't usually see in a cluttered store layout at bargain pricing. Could use better organization but the rotation and craftability of goods available more than make up for it.

First time visiting their new location. I do like that it's a little bit easier to get to for me. It is large and has a great layout, and there's always so kinda of odds and ends to find here.

Personal favorite. A FANTASTIC fun on a budget art supply/craft store for all types of creative minds!
Workers were welcoming and sweet while establishment was clean and inviting.
Highly recommend and will definitely be there again!!Jan 20, 2026 -
Sewing, scrapbooking, crafting supplies. Buttons, corks, stamps, fabric, canvases, film negatives, stationery. Classes for kids. A fam favorite.

Inspired and hopeful, SCRAP PDX is a nonprofit that helps people to create by purchasing re-used and gently loved items in need of a second home. Think of this place as a shelter for art supplies in need of a loving forever home. Go in with an open mind and an open heart. Perfect place to be if you’re into scavenging for treasures, looking for inspiration or in need of a random object that sparks curiosity and whimsy.

I love SCRAP PDX, but I will warn you: DO NOT come in 15-20 minutes before closing. There’s one employee who gets very upset and passive-aggressive if you come in near closing. Other than that, this shop is the perfect craft thrift store ever. If you see something that’s overpriced they might even be willing to lower the price too. I also love their crafternoons on select days of the month they’ll give you access to their studio with tools like sewing machines and glue for $7.50 per crafternoon session

Really just a fantastic place, born out of a genius idea. Pairing up creative people with creative things, in order to make more creative things. The prices are insanely cheap and the selection was amazing. Seriously, if you even THINK this sounds interesting, GO.

What a really great place to grab. Just random knick-knacks. I was looking for a collection of thank you cards to write to my team. And they had everything I needed. I also found myself going to grab a whole bunch of random things like a bag of jar lids, random carpet pieces, a box of stampers.

Great that places like this exist - new home for old craft materials. Prices are somewhat reasonable, but I did see a broken pencil for 25 cents. Hard to find exactly what you’re looking for so best to go in with no expectations. Relatively organized. Staff wasn’t helpful, didn’t even acknowledge me or my partner. But you can do as you wish in this store.

Huge selection of just about anything you could think of. I could’ve gotten lost in here for hours, you guys. So many nostalgic items. I think this place would be great if you had to construct a set for a late 90s, 2000s, or early twenty-teens period piece. My friend didn’t see the vision, but I’m an artist genius you see. So if you’re someone interested in film I highly recommend you check this place out. I didn’t get great pics, but this is a pic of a sticker my dad had on a laptop in 2009-11ish. Such good memories. This place will take you back.

This place is the Powell's of reusable art supplies!! Come in for the Adventure of sensory jubilation. We found good, close parking and the vibe was chill and laid back.

We LOVE SCRAP. We were headed to dinner and came across it. We could have spent hours here just exploring. It is a crafters dream especially for freestyle crafting. If you are making a specific project with an exact finished project in kind it may not be ideal but for fueling your creative genius it is a winner. They had everything. Random slides, maps, art paper, painting, milk bottle caps, champagne corks (for making mushrooms my kids decided), fabric scraps, old photos, bottle caps.
I can't even begin to fathom how many creative collages or works of art you could create. We went on the way to dinner and on the way back. I found funky fun maps of Texas and California. I found a Hawaii map I plan to use. I am a sucker for the hand drawn maps with cartoons of various businesses and I found a bunch of those.
There were collage kits with random assortments of items. Cards. Postcards. Staplers. Paperclips. Something's were priced. Some were by the handful or inch thickness.
This is a truly magical place that must be included on your to visit locations for Portland. We can't wait to come back.Jun 11, 2024 -
SCRAP PDX is one of THE BEST stores ever. Being like an art-thrift store, with new and used items stemming from plastic dinosaurs and paper to paint and glass containers, SCRAP is a magical place. One can get lost wandering the isles easily. The people working are also always very nice, and there are volunteer opportunities as well.
The central location in Downtown, near the MAX, multiple bus lines, and the streetcar also make it incredibly easy to get to.
Their prices are also very good, especially for today's world.
Amazing art store. 5/5 SCRAP PDX.Mar 29, 2023 -
Update: 8/10/22
Still as awesome and fun as ever. The cash register/checkout area is back in the middle. Everything is even more organized and looks great. The staff, as always, is so excellent. Get in there!

The first time I came here, a long time ago it seems, it was raining. I was dressed for rain but not for spending three hours (three!) in the store. I was sweaty, a little uncomfortable, but I didn’t care, I was transfixed. It’s grown since then. As a non-profit, the goods are from donations, you never know what goodies you’ll find. I sometimes go in looking for something specific, hoping to find it (and I usually do)but I really like to just see what there is to see. If I don’t know what I’m looking for, something finds me. It’s easy to feel inspired just looking at everything. I shop there about 3 times a month - at least. Since it’s all creative re-use the prices are always a deal. GO THERE!Aug 11, 2022 -
This is a huge store with a massive variety of craft materials. Now if you have *specific* needs it’s going to be a lucky dip as it’s based on what is available.
From a knitting, yarn craft perspective the yarns are limited and what is there is not in volumes that would be amenable to projects are its small stashes.
Looking for odds and ends? This is your place.Sep 22, 2018
